What goes on behind the scenes of the occult? We may never know because it is "occult." That means "hidden." Another word for it is esoteric Those in esoteric circles tend to be enticed by being included in secrecy. It attracts that mindset.

New Age as well as witchcraft have their similarities in which the person is attracted to becoming divine in him or herself. The notion "you can become god" peaks our inner pride. There are practices they share.

New Age and occult circles have a variation of what they call 'Christ." They don't call on a true person of Christ, but on a principle, sonetimes even attempting to summon a spirit that is Christ who guides them. other times they summon a spirit, angel, or entity they regard as their guide. In New Age they are called Ascended Masters. But no telling if they will be good or evil. One takes his chances.

Having knowldge is the purpose of the occult. Knowing is their salvation, being enlightened is their means to their salvation. But it isn't the same as being redeemed from sin to know God. They reach a counterfeit god, a counterfeit spirituality, and a counterfeit philosophy filled with abstract ideas and changing definitions.
