Danny the Dragon

0:00Hello there. Oh, I am so happy you're here. Are you ready for story time? I have a wonderful story for you today all about a dragon named Danny. Are you all snuggled in and cozy? Perfect. Okay, then let's open up our storybook and see what our friend Danny the dragon is doing. Here we go. Our story starts in a sweet tiny village. And who is that we see? It's our friend Danny. Danny the dragon lived in a cozy little home right next to a village. Of sometimes dragons can be a little bit scary, can't they? But not Danny. Oh, no, he was the kindest, friendliest dragon in the whole world. Every single morning, Danny would walk through the happy little village and call out good morning to everyone he saw. And all his friends would smile and wave and say, good morning, Danny. And when nighttime came, Danny turned into a super helper. He would fly to each house and with a gentle little puff. He liked their fires so they could be warm and cook their yummy dinner.

1:00After he made sure all his friends were warm and cozy, Danny would walk home and his heart felt so full and happy because you know what? It feels so good to help your friends. But then one sunny morning something new came to the village. Hmm, it was on wheels and it was very colorful. I wonder what it could be. It was a funny man with a big cart. His name was Mr. Marvo and he was shouting in a very loud voice. Come and see, come and see, buy my magic fire sticks. He showed everyone what the sticks could do. Whoosh, sparkly stars flew out of the end and pop just like that. They could light a fire and cook dinner. Wow. The villagers had never seen anything like it. Amazing shouted the villagers. I want one said somebody I'll take six said another and soon everyone in the whole village had bought one of the magic fire sticks. But oh dear that night as the sun went down something was different.

2:01Something that made Danny feel a little bit sad Danny went to his friend Joe's house to light his fire just like he always did. But Joe said, Oh, not tonight, Danny. I have a magic fire stick now. I don't need a dragon. Poor Danny, his wings felt all droopy. He went to Peg's house and she said the same thing and then he went to Sam's house and it was the same story there too. Everywhere he went, nobody needed his help. Oh poor Danny, he sat down and looked at all the village lights and he thought a very sad thought. He thought, no one needs me anymore. How do you think that makes Danny feel? Yeah, I think he feels very lonely and maybe a little bit hurt. It's not a very nice feeling is it? So with a very heavy heart Danny walked slowly back into the quiet woods. He felt so alone and he tried really, really hard not to cry. But wait, what's that noise? Who is that creeping through the trees?

3:01They don't look very friendly at all. Uh oh. It was a gang of robbers and they saw the lights from the village and they could smell all the yummy food. Ooh dinner grumbled their leader in a silly gruff voice. The robbers ran right into the village and they were not being very nice. They pushed people and can you believe it? They took all their food right from their tables. Help, help! Cryed all the villagers, they looked around for Mr. Marvo, the man with the magic sticks, but he didn't help. He just got scared and ran away. But listen, someone did hear their cries for help. A real hero is coming to save the day. Do you know who it is? All the way in the woods Danny heard his friends and you know what? He forgot all about being sad. His friends needed him. He knew he had to be brave and go help them right away. Danny swooped down into the village. He took a big breath and a tiny little flame came out and made one of the robbers beards all warm.

4:03Then he toasted their feet. Yeah, they cried. That must have tickled. And then he gave their bottoms a little toast too. The silly robbers were so surprised that they ran away as fast as they could. Far, far away and they were never ever seen again. Hurray for Danny cheered all the villagers. They gave him the biggest, warmest hug and told him they were so sorry. And to say a big thank you, they used the magic sticks to build a beautiful shiny new roof for Danny's house. The villagers learned that even when something new and sparkly comes along, a real friend is someone who is there for you when you really need them. That's what makes a good friend, isn't it? The end.
