They've got the experts. So, uh, no. Toucher and hearty. No, on the sports hub. All right. We are toucher and hearty. Danny Roach is in for hearty today who's dropping his daughter off at UMass Amherst like a good dad. Uh, what were you two talking about?
You two are sending something up. No, I would always tie it up a possible to go into play golf. Yeah, that's all. You see, he needed this creative event with you two without me in response to mean you going to the game. Well, actually Fred had to do with my wife plays golf. His wife plays golf, so why not have a force? Why not have a force? Exactly. All right. Look, uh, I just keep him. I just letting you guys know I keep my eye on things. All right. So, uh, if you would like to watch this game take place and Dan feverishly look at the notes for this game that he created, you could not be more nervous. I don't know. I'm not just like I just trying to figure out how to do. Yeah, he's trying to figure out the game he created. Well, in fairness, I didn't know how much time to give you guys for that thing. So I just ditched the time or halfway through. All right. So Dan is created a game and you can watch this on YouTube. Subscribe to 985. The sports hub on YouTube. And Dan, this game is going to be what? You lead it, baby. Well, we got an open. So we'll do that and because you criticized me last time for having a way, way, way too long of an open.
Don't we call it criticizing you? I just want to point it out while this is long. Good, right. Now. So you just said, who can it be now? To the song, who can it be? The song was too long last time. So this is it friend. All right. So he did, he did the game. Who can it be now with the song? Who can it be now by minute work and saying, who can it be now? To the song, when they say, who can it be now? It is the, it is a parody song. In honor of Labor Day, right? You guys all work together, and everything else. We've known each other for a long time. So it's, it's, Mike Reese was involved in this a little bit. John, yourself. So it's a little different. All right. So Fred, I didn't know how to phrase the question. So Fred, I'll go first with you. You can tell me as close as you can,
what was your first job of these three guys? Okay. You put that job with that person. Okay. Okay. Three simple questions. This person was a car wash attendant. It's his first job. The second job was scooping ice cream. And the third job was baking bagels, which of us matched those, see how close you can come. Okay. Who are the people involved in this? Dan, myself, John and Mike Reese. Okay. Okay. So I am the one that's answering these questions. Yes. Dan, John or Mike Reese. And your first job was washing dishes. It was washing dishes that the buggy works. I also worked at a car wash. Did you really? At one point. Yeah, the soft cloth boys. Okay. And the guy told me I have to wash cars on the right of the exit. And I said, why? And he said, because I was stabbed in my left arm and I can't use it in jail. Oh. All right. Okay. All right. And the guy that ran the car wash was a big coke head who had an invention of a one-stripped backpack.
Oh, no. All right. Okay. All right. So who baked bagels? At bagels, bagels, bagels and more. Okay. So that you Reese or John. John. Okay. So John is Jewish and that would get him into a bagel place. But I don't think that was John's first job. You are very goyem. So I'm going to say that wasn't your first job. Reese, I don't know what he is. He's like the guy in Seinfeld that Elaine dates. And she's trying to figure it out. I'm going to say Reese worked at the bagel shop. Okay. And then scooping ice cream. That sounds like a you. Okay. And car wash attended. Oh, see, that's not that's not John. So I thought I'd knew John's first job. See? Now, well, do you know each other? All right. You're the car wash. John's the Jewish guy. I'm going to go bagels and then uh, the ice cream is Reese. You're a cuss.
You were a friend. You were right on. Okay. Baking bagels and bagels, bagels and more was my crease. Scooping ice cream. It's Steve's ice cream was John. And I was the car wash attended. A half-dress car wash in North-hand over. Neutral no steering no brakes. Have a nice day. All right. That seems very blue collar for you with the soft hands. Yeah. All right. All right. Now, this is a question for you, John. Okay. All right. You have to. How did we answer? Okay. If you could go to one place for a vacation, where would it be right now? And your answer was? Hawaii. Okay. As you knew, Fred. One of us would have gone there. Yeah. One of us said Hawaii because they've never been. Okay. One of us said, Angula. Angula. Angula. Yeah. And one of us said, well, Disney World. Well, I can do this one. Then you're Disney. Okay. Next. What are the other two? Hawaii. And Angula. I'm going to say, Mike is Hawaii.
And whoever else is in. Fred. Fred is in. It's in. Real. I was going to correct you, but that would have given it away. Yeah. You've been there? Yes. Okay. All right. I would like to go back. I've been twice. Okay. I have been. I also wasn't putting it. You would have gotten. If I was in that, I would have gotten. You would have gotten. Easily. Yes. I would have won that easily. Yeah. All right. Let's go to John again. Then we'll go back to Fred. Oh. What is this? This is where the game is playing. I see. Okay. What's your favorite sport to follow? Your favorite sport. Okay. Yours is. Mine is. Well, basketball. Of course. Celtics. Bryant University. Sure. Two of us said football. One of us said baseball. Fred is baseball. Oh, no. Wait. Now you see. Here's the trick. I'm going to say, you know what? I'm going to say. Fred is football jets. And the other two are baseball. No, there's two of us. Two of us. Wait. Two of our football. Two of our football. One is baseball. This is pretty easy. All right. Your baseball and the other two are football.
Yeah. That was a pretty much a game. Yeah. All right. Uh, I do. I do baseball is my favorite game, but I like falling in a fall. I had to. Al Tune, baby. Al Tune. That's right. All right. I have a signed Al Tune picture in my would have been Sherry Rice with a different quarterback. Who was your favorite athlete growing up? Yours was. I loved yours. Yeah. Right. The wizard. All right. Who's Aussie Smith? I would actually really gotten out. You would have gotten out. I would have gotten out. The other three. Here they are. Paul Moleter. Larry Bird. And Yaz. Okay. Your Yaz. He's Larry Bird and Reese's Paul Moleter. Well done. Fred. There's no question about that. You see, it bird was easy, but number two would have been griffy and you would have gotten out one too. So yeah, I do. Couldn't say griffy. All right. That could be right. You bring it away. Your favorite interview of all time. And yours was like, my, it was right up there. It was my second choice, but yours was my lockerman from the descendant. Yeah. It's just so happy to meet him. But I, there's the bed. My favorite interview we ever did is Bill Cosby. But you can never say that. I didn't know what you were doing with this stop.
We had to Nixon. We had Cosby in studio. And he was first started the show. I remember that. Cosby and Cosby came in. And it's like, you know, like, wow, like Cosby's doing local radio. Yeah. And he was great. And he was like so friendly and like into it. Like he wasn't being, he was just like, good on the radio. Like he wasn't, he was conversational. He was like asking questions. I asked him about like himself, like when he does Bill Cosby himself. And he like, you know, he easily could have gone, oh man, you know, that's from like 1982. But he like went into how he improvised the whole dentist thing. And like it was, it was a really good interview. That's what always pops off his like, because he was such an icon at the time. How many years ago was that? How long? Right in the middle of his, of the peak of him being popular. It was like, no, it was, he was touring as a standup. And it was like after the Cosby show and everything. So he was 11. 2010, is that make sense? Oh, it's probably 2009, 2010. It was before any allegation. It was before Hannibal Burist.
We just started. Yeah. Which is what started the whole Cosby thing. All right. Go ahead. Fred, this is your favorite interview. You just talked about Milo Arcoman. All right, the three of us, one of them said Ted Williams, one of the said John Calapari, one of them said Tom Brady. Reese's Tom Brady, John's John Calapari, and you're, um, what was the other one? Ted William. You're Ted Williams. Mike Reese is John Calapari at UMass, when Mike was a student. Whoa. Okay, because John is involved in, you know, university basketball. Right. So I know that that was a joke. And John's is Tom Brady, believe it or not. You interviewed Tom Brady. I interviewed Tom Brady. I was always the got the last cut. Everyone goes to the Super Bowl, but they left me behind. So I was hosted the overnight show on E.I. After the 03 or 04 win. And Ordway was supposed to be back at his post at the media center after the Super Bowl. He never showed up. So we got a call in the, call in the studio.
We have Tom Brady on the phone. We need to interview him right now, while it get in there. And so I interviewed Tom Brady, laughing in the locker room for about five minutes after he had won the Super Bowl. You know, I've never interviewed Tom Brady. No, and I was here during half his career. And I never, I've never been in the same room with him. I've never talked to him. I've never interviewed him. Never been on the same phone. Never. Yeah. Yeah, that's how far removed he was. I mean, the chances of an athlete being in town for that long in like, I don't know. I don't really ever talk to the sports hub. No, well, there was a rumor. Well, there was that rumor when he called in one place. Of course Tom Brady did call in that day. Under a fake name. I might have been here. He might have been here that day. Yeah. All right, so. Something good happened. So you're probably here. Mine was a busy radio. Long time ago, Ted Williams. And he was like in the 90s. He was, his voice was booming. He sounded like that John Wayne, you know, let me tell you kid Mo Vaughan does this. You probably kids is asking. I've never seen a day.
It was so great to listen to. It really was. Because he's supposed to be a bad guy. Yeah. No. But red hour back was another one too. That was one of my favorite. How was he? He was supposed to smoke him like they saw. That's the whole thing. That was in person. Red, it is leading years. Tended to smell like cigars. It was a little different called. Yeah. So he just like leaned into this. Yeah, yeah. All right. Well, last one out of the group. There's a couple other ones that we talked about. Well, all right. John, what's the last book you read out of these three? This was yours was who the hell is this? What was your last play Harvey? It's I don't read books anymore. I just don't. So the last book I read was a while ago. Clay Harvey is an action fiction writer. It's called Whisper of Dwelling in the Great. That's insane. I can't believe you read that. I don't. I don't. I know. OK. I don't understand why I didn't do such a fence to that. I know. I know. I know. I know. It was going to be like Clay Harvey dwelling in the pharmaceuticals. No, no, no, no. I was like, oh, wow. OK. I did. So one of the answers was the corrections by Jonathan Frenzen.
One of them was that when Pride still mattered by David Marinus. And one of them is Patriots media guide. It's too busy going out to shows. Yeah, I know. Well, obviously the media guide is Reese. What are the other two? When Pride still mattered by David Marinus and the corrections by Jonathan Frenzen. I don't know. I'll say the corrections is Fred. And then you're the other one. Wow. You went three and oh. There you go. Outstanding. Yeah, I have nothing to add. I just read the corrections by the way. It's a got seller. It's no great accomplishment. God. These last two I couldn't figure out what to do with them. It's just just so we could talk about how many of these events have you been to in person. And I found this rather interesting that an NBA finals game is myself and John. A Stanley Cup final game is myself and John. World Series game is myself and John. And then the Super Bowl Fred, yourself, me and Mike. And John hasn't been. I have not been to a Super Bowl. And the Super Bowl was that. I know, right? I know. Well, again, always the last cut at E.E.I.
And then when I came here, we'd always go for the week leading up to it and then get on the plane Friday morning and fly home. Yeah, because the twist, the answer is that the Super Bowl I was at was Super Bowl 16. I was at the Super Bowl in Pontiac, Michigan. Right. Where there was the huge ice storm. Oh, I didn't put that together. I wrote 2016, I might know. No, it was, it was, no, it was 1982. I don't even remember it. But I know I was there because I remember the ticket. And my dad got tickets through work. And where was it? Pontiac, Michigan. It was in the Silver Dome. And there was a huge ice storm. And my dad dropped me his friend and his friend's kid off. This is when advertising executives got four tickets to the Super Bowl because it was in Michigan. And he dropped us off and he had to go park in someone's lawn because the parking lot was such a mess. And he didn't get until half time. I only know that story from his yelling about a constant. That's an interesting one. And have you ever been to any of the four Hall of Fame's? That was my last one. I know where John's been. God try it. John's been to basketball. John's been to basketball and baseball.
Okay. He's not been to hockey or the NFL. And you've been to two Fred. Mm-hmm. What are they? We'll have John get hockey and baseball. Correct. Yeah. I've never been to the hockey Hall of Fame. It's in a strip mall. I've been to the other three. That's what I hear in my wife said. It's awesome though. Uh, yeah. I've heard the opposite. Okay. I've heard the opposite. It's not like bad. It's just small and there's not a lot going on. Yeah. Baseball Hall of Fame is so much better than the other three. The base not even close. Yeah, like I have no desire to go to the basketball hall of Fame. And I really have no desire to go to the pro football hall of fame. I was there last week. Pro football hall of fame. Like there's like 60 years of that probably that I have no idea who any of those guys are. Like it's set for the quarterbacks and running backs. Like I would have no idea. Like people that played in like the 50s and 60s. It's not like the other sports. Like where the icons here, here, the, the, the face mask of Mary and Motley. Okay. Yeah. Good. Fantastic. Fantastic. And then even like the 70s, like all I've heard pretty much all the names now, but like the linemen don't mean anything to me.
You know, they start with the NFL Hall of Fame. They used to, it's getting a little bit more hard because of how popular it is to get in. But just it seems like there was like Roger Craig's in the Hall of Fame, for instance. Like the equivalent of Roger Craig from the 70s, I'm going to have no idea who that guy was, you know, like Rocky Blire or something. Like I know he's not in the Hall of Fame, but it would be like guys like that. All right. Thank you, Danny. You know what? That was good. John and I made that a contest because we had a conversation about the questions. Good. So what you did is you set up a conversation starter. There you go. Well done, Danny. Thank you, Freddie. And you kept the song very short and very on mark. All right. I'm going to talk about erectile dysfunction to figure out what's on. Well, this doesn't help chronic urination. All right. We'll be right back. You know those nights when you get home and suddenly realize it's dinner time and you have absolutely nothing planned. If you want to follow us on social media at toucher and hearty and more importantly on Instagram at Fred Toucher where you can see the photo of Joe Lazon post bear knuckle fight. I get, I just tweeted out through my social media accounts, that thing got more traction just because of the way Joe looks. That thing got more traction than just about anything we put out recently. Okay. The only thing I've ever put out that got traction is the picture. I just took someone else's picture off the internet and put it up. I put their post like football crave was the post and it's of Bill Bella checks Pierce
Nipple. Yes. Would you care to know how many likes that got? 2000, 2000 likes. Dan, what do you say? I'll say, um, 5,000. 21,000. Oh, Jesus. Wow. I don't get credit money for it though. I get no money. That's not monetized because it wasn't my original concept. But we got thousands of likes on the Joe Lazon picture. That's Twitter though. No, Instagram to Instagram. I think Instagram too. We take a look. If it's not 1000, I was supposed to know about mountain likes. That's I understand. I just want to know likes. We got a bunch of emails this morning. A lot of them are Dan centric and Dan, I'll get to your emails in a second. But the first one is we got it from Peter and Peter says, John just did the open nose Tom thing and Fred didn't even call it out. I say that's not true. Fred called it out the second I did it, which was I have a wife that plays golf. Dan has a wife that plays golf. Let's have a force. No, yeah, you did that thing and I did the thing from the kid in North Carolina.
Right. That's all mad at me. Like why not have a dent? That's right. That was you. And then mine was the thing that was like my wife and a friend. Right. So no, he called it out immediately. No, we did that. This is, what was I can say? Do you know Gloria Steinem died? I saw that. Dan, you're the time is yours. The Gloria Steinem. Thank God you're wearing black. Yeah. RIP. That's all you have to say about one of the true heroes of feminism. Yeah, I know. She was guiding light for a lot of women. So she did well. I don't think Pam's going to like that. No, I think you better go home and rework kind of stumbling over your words. I can't believe you couldn't even come up with something on the fly down to the woman, but okay, Sarah from Everett has an email here. And this is Dan. This is for Dan in his performance and the Disney quiz in the eight o'clock hour. Did you guys realize Dan got seven out of 11? Seven eleven. His birthday, mine too. Oh, how about that?
Happy birthday. Her brain is always churned. A rich said Fred, you need to apologize to Dan. Yes. Walking the length of his song parodies. Now he is passive aggressively punishing us listeners with super short songs. Dan's parody songs are the highlight of his appearances. Their second only to Tyler Milliken's cousins. That is from Mitch from New Bedford. Bedford. I had a boy Mitch. Appreciate you. Okay. Jeremy says if Dan had to use one Disney ride to describe his sex life, what ride would it be? Jeremy says I'm guessing splash mountain. It's a small world. Maybe expedition. Never because it goes backwards. Clip that. We could play that later. I don't get it, but it sounds horrible. Yeah. I don't understand it, but it sounds horrible. Hey guys, while working as an engineer on a stunt show at Universal Hollywood, we talk codes over the walkie talkie all the time.
And the one we abused constantly, code 82 from when there was an extremely large guest causing havoc in the way. Yes. They ate too much. Where did this guy work? Universal Hollywood engineer on a stunt show at Universal Hollywood. And so if there was a fat guest causing problem, problems, it would be a code 82. Coase it code 82 as in they ate too much. Oh, okay. I understand what you're saying. All right. So that was how they would say there was a fat person. So how did they find them other than the front of the line? Because there was a time, Dan, at Disney that if you were fat and they had like rentals like in the parking lot, like side hustles of people like renting out little rascals. And you if you just were fatting out in a little rascal like that motorized scooter, like your fans are mostly in as we saw it. If with oxygen that you got to the front of the lines at Disney because you were quote unquote disabled, do you recall that? I do.
Yeah. That was a problem that they stopped. Yes. They said just because you were a lot of people were doing it. It was obvious. Yeah. Well, I mean, we did a new story in Atlanta one time that there was they were busting like pirate businesses that were literally renting out motorized scooters to people so they could get to the front of the lines. And then you'd go on the bus, you know, the buses that take you everywhere and they have to wait. And then you'd go on the scooter, you'd have to have the guy put the ramp down in the back. Yeah, but that's for people that are really in wheelchairs. Dan. No, there's people that we had their little school. Yeah, I know, but Dan, you're just against it. Like people in wheelchairs getting on buses and enjoying things. Don't spin. I mean, you cook it too far. I was saying that the fat people renting a scooter going up to the front of the line was an appropriate, but now you're saying that people with disabilities shouldn't be able to get on buses. I apologize. Dan at roach. Yes. Go ahead. Better now. Go ahead. You got something else? Justin and we're going back to the shoot debris segment. As you can imagine, a lot of emails people couldn't get in on the phone lines because they were constantly jammed. Everyone wanted to talk to Dan. So they started emailing us.
This is from Justin asked Danny what's more relieving pooping when you have bad diarrhea or pee when you can't hold it any longer. All right. This might be, maybe, the last one. Oh, man. Yeah. Let's keep it at that. Let's cap it. Yeah. Oh, man. Yeah. Let's keep it at that. Let's cap it there. Let's cap it there. Very good. What is this? Oh. Oh. So Mike Hurley has put up other teams doing the same thing that the Patriots did with the field goal. Yes. Yes. Again, knowing it's Hurley, he has dug very deep onto this and has tons of evidence. So Hurley has now, no one has ever done more with less reward than Hurley. He is. You ever get to feeling if he doesn't do it, he just go insane and start kicking things around his room? The thing with Hurley was that he was at during deflacate in that whole horrible time, which was like the COVID of sports.
He went in, he would, Gedal was doing this press conference. And like Hurley's whole thing was deflacate. He was legitimately upset about it, like really upset. Like he, you know, article after article after article about deflacate and he had a legal pad with like, you know, long ass pieces of paper, handwritten scratchings of a madman for like pages and pages. He was going to ask Gedal and he never even rose his hand to ask him a question. Well, he knew it wasn't going to be called on. But why write the questions out? I don't know. And if you're like the man you despise that you want to call out is like right in front of you. You just be compelled to like try with everything you had. And it was a very crowded ballroom, like, but it was a ballroom. Like it wasn't, you know, in arena, like there was a, you know, he was like everyone else. He had a press badge on. He could have got an ass. He could have asked a question. I just think it was too overwhelming for him, so staring the face of evil, like right across from you, snapped.
When you confront the man that you've been going after for years, I like Hurley a lot and I think he's talented. But oh boy, because I hated that deflate game time so much, I just, I hated it. And he was so into it. The other part of this, and you were already in a bad mood because you remember what Super Bowl that was. Was that Phoenix? It was. Yeah. So we're Phoenix. Gedal probably talked about like two in the afternoon and we were there. I don't want to have guests, right? Huh? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You came right on the show. You know how pissed people would have been if we had Gedal on the show because I didn't, I wouldn't have even pressed them. Like I don't even, like what am I going to do? Yeah. I wasn't upset about it. They bled air out of the balls. They let out of the air out of the balls. I want to interview the commissioner live on radio. Who? Which one? Tagliabo. I thought he's friends with Manfred. Really? Yeah. Manfred's not a bad radio guest. He'll talk about stuff. They did a blind survey of major league players, but they, it was only like a handful of them, different about ESPN, that about the lockout.
And if there would be a lockout and about the negotiation and none of them, even to their best interests seemed at all interested in salary cap, but they wanted a floor. Some of them wanted a salary floor, but not a salary cap. I'm sorry. That doesn't happen. You have to have both. Oh, everyone would like more money. Okay. And guarantee more money with no cap on it. We'll pay everyone more money, but we won't limit spending. Oh, okay. Would you like 100% of the revenue? Okay. We'll take care of it. I did this one in, I think 98. It was at the Super Bowl, and we were doing a Saturday show. You guys know how in radio row there's like nobody around us. Saturday. There was no one around everyone. Yeah. We're on the area. Well, it's happened to be in the, in the same like ballroom down the hall and in some private room, the owners were voting on whether or not to install instant replay for the first time in the NFL. So it was a big moment. And we were doing a show. It was myself and Tim Fox and Will McDonough. And back then, Will was everything. Well, he just got every, every story and everything else.
So we see Tagelibu coming out after the vote and he just takes his headphones off and he goes, Paul, Paul. And he calls him over. Tagelibu comes over. He throws headsets on him and we just started talking to what happened. How did the vote go? And he basically told us and told the world that instant replay had passed. So it was pretty cool. And it's a good story. Moral of the story, I suppose, is that even though McDonough had wielded all this power and was, you know, this respected a journalist, he was doing weekend radio. Well, no, he's just a guest with us. I know, but he was on the radio on a Saturday. Oh, but it was the Super Bowl. Okay. Will was awesome. He used to say to me, Danny, the difference between you and I is you think and I know whenever we have it argument about any topic. Kind of a dick thing to say. It was great. It was Will. If you knew Will, I God love him. I loved him. The guy who punched Ronnie Lapet and knocked him out was Adrian Clayborn. Yeah, Ray was in the locker. I know. You do. Yeah. You get told that right away when you move here.
Oh, is that part of it? Yes. Okay. The minute sports part of the lineage I was unaware of and told that I would never fit into was that the stories of Will McDonough. Those were told to me in a condescending fashion as they I did. My was going to do my brief little thing in Boston sports and then move along. Those are real guys do it. Those were fun too. I love you. You would have loved him, Fred. You would have absolutely loved him. I'm sure I would have. And he seems like I mean, he hit a player. That's pretty cool. I mean, I'm not kidding. Like that's pretty cool. He was old school. Yeah. Don't cross him. Yeah. I mean, players are always like, you know, you can do the in the hit one. Then great. That's awesome. I like it. All right. We'll be back. But the thing is that we knew that we weren't going to get fired. And then that's the thing is that you have to that's what's frustrating is that you hear everyone talking and read everyone saying that you're going to get fired and you know you're not. And you're just like, oh my God, all this conversation about something that's not going to happen. Well, that was what made it for me speaking for myself.
When I first joined the show, I found out what was going to happen. And then you hear all of this talk about the show and how it's going away. And I couldn't say anything, but I knew that I was safe and you were safe and we were going to keep going. Well, that's fun. It actually taught me a big lesson in this happened a bunch of times in my career is that like this is because this other, this has happened with other stuff before. Whenever someone says, I heard or I, I know that such and such is going to happen. 99% chance of them being wrong. 99% chance or of having like big holes in the story and things like that. I've heard more things about myself and what was going to happen to me and this, this, this and what or what happened and da da da da da da where everything's wrong than I would then is keep my sanity. It's just it's so not news like not stuff in the paper or TV, but like talk is tough. All right. We'll be back to finish this whole a fair up in just a moment here. The headlines.
I had a people listen to touch your eyes. Because it's a thing. No way. You know what I'm talking about. Sure. No idea what you're talking about. Here's more of the thing on the sports hub. We know what you're thinking. What could I possibly have missed from the show? It's just that mark. It's just that mark. It's just that mark. It's time for the stomach on touch your heart. All right. We are touch your heart. Dan Roach is in for hearty today. Joe Murray is in for beetle today. And beetle announced yesterday something that we knew that he has thyroid cancer and he has been very positive about it. It seems like something that can get taken care of with relative ease. So obviously we are rooting for beetle and he'll do great.
No doubt about that. But he announced that on the year yesterday we've known about that for like a month. But it was good to see the support for Bertrand that came out with that. Joe is here. And Joe the minute he came through the door, I was like standing by the door that he gets into the station and he was going, code 82. Because that was the thing that they put for fat people in the Disney world. And when they were causing troubles. And so he said that. And then but Joe was talking about code 82 and then you moved into your problem with buffet. Correct. I love a buffet. Okay. Who doesn't? All right. But my biggest issue and maybe Dan, I know you've been to Disney a lot. Is there a time limit on the buffets when you've never heard of one? Would you be aware of it if there was probably but no, you know, what do you think the time limit? If there was a time limit, what do you think it should be? Like two hours maybe. Okay. That sounds right. All right. Well, if you go to Vegas right now and you go to a buffet, 90 minute time limit and I'm
not happy with it. You know what? I'm on your side with that because like from what I've heard, I've never been to a Vegas buffet, but there's like the famous one at one of the hotels. I can't remember. Oh, yeah. The Bacchanel was 90 minutes at Caesars, but they had like mimosas and you know, that's just it. That's the one. I think that's the famous one. But isn't there like a line? Like I would imagine. Yeah. It's out the door and around the corner. Yeah. Right. So if you're standing in line for a buffet in like 45 minutes of your time there is standing in line, 45 minutes of eating at a buffet food is not enough. But the whole point of the buffet is more than one trip. Like necessarily not even hungry. And you pace yourself. Right. Like you might start. You might start with some antipostan stuff like that and then you or like, you know, shellfish and then you start moving on, you know, like that and you start moving from there the 90 minute at a crowded buffet. Like if it's, you know, just like some buffet restaurant like, you know, whatever, like the where they're shaving off the what is a golden corral?
Yeah. If it's something like that, like whatever, because you're just like going up whatever, a pizza buffet, like whatever. Like a real buffet with like a line and everything because they have those in the Bahamas. And yeah, it's not easy like getting in there. Like you got to stand around. If you get an omelette or something at a breakfast buffet, you're eating up 10 minutes there. So I'm with you, Joe. Yeah. 90 minutes. It's got nothing to do with being a fat guy or wanting to eat anything. I just feel like 90 minutes isn't enough time to like if you're going out with people and you're spending $200. I think I went Easter Sunday two years ago. I think I want to say it was like a bucket idiot person. Jesus. It was the greatest buffet of my life. Better but still. But I wanted to start carving station first, then do the breakfast, then maybe look at maybe crab legs or lobster. You don't work back yet. That seems kind of odd. I feel as though you have to go hot first. Why? It's in plus. I don't want them to run out of it either. Like if someone's chopping up some prime rib, I want to get in there.
One would think they'd have a spare in the back. You would. You would. This is the cheap thing. Especially you can't take chances. Well, they'd be spending all of that money. They better have a backup. What if they don't and I've been denied before? Oh yeah. So this is a conundrum. What's the first thing you do when you go to a buffet? It's got to be hot. It's got to be that that sliced carving. I think you're in the minority on that one. Well no, because you would you usually I would guess salad. You would do as I do where you go salad. I don't know if I'm having a salad at a buffet. I might put a little bit on my plate for appearances. But I would go with shellfish first, oysters, and if they had crab legs, good God, or even if they had lobster tails, which I imagine they don't. But if they did, I mean, I would get as much of that in me as possible. And then I would move on to the hot food from there because that's like traditional dining. I used to do the same thing. You know that hotel that Eddie Muddy used to play in Nadek every year called the Verve.
You know, you said stand by the dumpsters and free base. That's right. That's what you're talking about. That used to be a killer buffet from Mother's Day. We used to go. It's expensive. But I would always start with the meats and the cheeses and all that stuff to start. And then you kind of segue into the hot. You know what I'm saying? Just remember those meat and some of the cheeses were still there when you left. Doesn't matter. So is the prime rib, Joe. It wasn't big on the. Joe, what where were you wronged? What buffet were you wronged at that is scarves? You hit it was the Bakken Ellen Las Vegas. It's not 90 minutes isn't enough. It's just not I agree for that. But what I'm saying is they would ran out of prime rib and Vegas. Forget about the buffet when you guys go out to dinner. How long are you there? When I go out to dinner, it depends. Like if I'm at a nice restaurant with a lot of people probably 90 minutes, but generally probably a little under an hour. Yeah. That's right. Under an hour. If you're just out with friends, yeah, it's not an hour.
It's not including the waiting. There's a lot. When I was drinking like a lot, like when I was like drinking and would have cocktails before dinner and then like, you know, and if you're having like this is like a nice dinner and you're having wine and then you might have a digested beef like after dinner, then you're talking about like two hours. So you immerse yourself in every dinner experience you go to? Like I just say, I like the capital girl. It's my, it's the one of the steak houses I like. Sure. They give you the bread. What do you want first? Super salad? Boom. I'm eating that first before even look at the appetizers. So there's one portion. Then it's the appetizer. Interesting. You don't order the steak first and have the bread there because I don't want it all coming at the same time. You get hot first. I would tell you. I'll have the filet mignon first. The way that I set up the brunch probably sounded that way. Yeah. But no, like if you're going to the buffet and there's a carving station, I don't want to miss my prime rib and my ham and my turkey. Oh, the chocolate cake first. And then again, you know, I didn't know this, but I've had, when I went, there was like
crepes and all these other things. I don't really have that often. I don't see you as a crepe guy. I mean, either, but you know what? I had a time limit. I had to try it all, you know? So they kick you out of the table or what happened? They basically put the, like, you've already paid for it up front, but they kind of write something like, all right, you actually, yeah, they can't tell you how much time you have left. Really? The waiter comes by and says 15 minutes. Yeah, it was kind of like, hey, just take a look at the time that you guys showed. Remember, just remember everything's 10 hours. And I'm like, because they want to get their tip, too, you know, because they're running the tables. So, excuse me, Mr. Murray, you have 20% to that waiter. Oh, they didn't do anything. No, it included. That's not putting my amy. Oh my God. Yeah. Miami, I didn't realize they already had a groutoody and I was tipping on top of it. Oh, it happened to be too. That's infuriating. If you're at a resort or a hotel, you got to check to see if the groutoody is already included. Usually they'll put a 15% on it. I would call you guys public figures. I feel like you have to do more than 20% these days.
No. 20% is fine. 20. I'm a 20. Maybe 22 once in a while. Yeah. Or to round up and you end up in 22. Yeah, but no, I'm not. I worked in the service industry for many years and 20% was fine with me. I was never expecting more than 20%. But if it's a long conversation and they're talking to you about everything and they're like a fan of a show, then I'm going to round way off. Yeah. Just well, let you guys know. It's got to be more than 20% because you can't be like, hey, he's a bad temper and you can't get that reputation. And I know 20% is great. Dude, I never got 20%. I was a terrible waiter, but I like never got 20%. Ever. And sometimes with female service staff, you got to be careful with that too, like over tipping because especially if you go to some place like often because that can look weird too. Oh, yeah. I think you're creep. Yeah. So if you're like, here's 50 bucks on like 100 bucks, you know, someone like, okay, like
you can just keep doing it. You know, I do think who you are matters. I do. No, I absolutely. Like if someone comes in to do work in my house and they're like, oh, hey, I'm a big fan of your show. I saw it was you. I wasn't going to sure if it was you. Yeah, I'm definitely tipping on. Here's an extra fin. No, that what happened to me was I valed and some guy goes, oh, you Joe, hey, man, what's up? My buddy tried to give me a $5 bill to give to the guy. And I'm like, I can't give that guy five bucks at valed. I had to. Oh, Joe. I don't want the guy to think I'm $5. I didn't want to be thought of as a dude. But dude, you got a rich man. He's going over and then there's really over the top 20s over the top. I think 20 was good. I'm handing out $100 bills to everyone. I'm the pie pie per 20 dollars. That guy puts the car right in front of the entrance to the restaurant. You're not a rich man. There was. I am not a rich man. So, I mean, Joe, you shouldn't feel obligated to tip 20% to a valet. It's a good reason for myself. And by the way, you are much more recognizable than any of us. Especially, yeah. I told you, you're like a food critic too. When I was in, it's like a radical.
When I was in real quick and we got a break, but when I was in detox, I told you, the guy's like, you're in radio and I'm like, yeah. And he goes, big fan. He goes, he didn't know who I was. He's like, you're in radio. He goes, you know Joe, Joe Murray. Yeah. And I'm like, yeah, he's like, yeah, you're the rest of Roxbury. I know Joe Murray. So I was like, no, I said, I bet you know Joe Murray. He goes, I know someone over there is big guy. I know. It's Joe Murray. Yeah, Joe. Yeah. If it didn't exist, you would be the most popular guy on a planet, right? Seriously. What? What are you doing? No, you were getting ready to say goodbye. I just needed to give him our program and come out of next. Go ahead.
