Dallas Cowboys Legend John Fitzgerald Passes Away

0:00On April 16th, John Fitzgerald, the former Dallas Cowboys offensive lineman, has passed away at 77 years old. The team announced the tooth a morning, but didn't share a cause of death. This guy was a two-time Mombardi Trophy winner, who anchored the line for 12 straight seasons, all with Dallas. He played mostly as center, suiting up for 137 regular season games and hitting five Super Bowls under coach Tom Landry. Fitzgerald snagged the starting spot in 1973 after backing up the squad during their Super Bowl 6 victory the year before. Coming out of Boston College as a fourth-round pick, he played both ways in college, before becoming the foundation of Landry's shotgun offense. The Cowboys side called him that, for a reason. He never suited up for a losing team and made the playoffs 11 times. Over his career, he racked up nine NSC championship appearances and 19 postseason games total, including starting Super Bowl 12, where Dallas, B. Denver, 27-10.
