Dak Prescott Advises Pickens: Take Franchise Tag

Dallas Cowboys quarterback, Dak Prescott recently spoke out about a wide receiver facing the franchise tag. He encouraged the player who finished the last year of his rookie deal to take the roughly $30 million dollar offer. Dak said it is like what he got on his own tag, urging him to bet on himself since he is a great talent. That receiver is Pittsburgh's dealer star, George Pickens. The franchise tag for wide outs comes in at $27.3 million this year. Meanwhile, the open market pays top guys around $40 million per season. Dak's own tag back in 2020 was $31.4 million, which ranks 7th among quarterbacks at the time. Prescott has since signed two long term deals. Wide receivers like Pickens usually get just one big contract in their careers. The tag delays Pickens from that payday by a full year. Teens can tag him again next year for $32.8 million, still below market.
