Daisylocks

About this episode

This Disney-themed adaptation of a classic fairy tale features Daisy Duck as the titular character, Daisylocks, who wanders into the home of three bears while they are away. Driven by curiosity and hunger, she samples their porridge, tests their furniture, and eventually falls asleep in the smallest bed. When the bear family returns to find their food eaten and a chair shattered, they discover the intruder resting in the nursery. Startled by their presence, Daisylocks flees through a window and learns a valuable lesson about respecting the privacy of others. The story concludes with the bears tidying their house for invited guests while the main character resolves never to enter a stranger's home again.

0:00Hello there! Are you ready for a story? I thought so. Today we're going to hear all about a very, very curious little duck, and her name is DaisyLocks. Okay, our story starts way, way deep in the woods, and guess what? A very special family lives there. Come on, let's go meet them. Oh look, here they are now. In this sweet, cozy cottage lived a pop-a-bear, a mama bear, and a little baby bear. Now they were a very kind family, but they were just a little bit lonely. Sometimes pop-a-bear would say in his big, deep, rumbly voice, Oh, I do wish we had a visitor. So one bright and sunny morning, mama bear made some delicious porridge for breakfast. Mmm, but oops, it was way too hot to eat just yet. So the three bears thought, hey, let's go for a little walk in the woods while it cools down. You know what? Someone else was walking in the woods that day too. And that's someone, yep, it was our little duck, DaisyLocks.

1:02And DaisyLocks was a great big explorer, who was very, very curious about everything. So as she was exploring, DaisyLocks spotted the bear's pretty little cottage. Oh, how cute, she quacked, and all the door was open, just a crack. Now DaisyLocks knew you're not supposed to go into someone's house unless they invite you, but she was just so curious, she just had to see what was inside. So she took a tiny peek, and then she tiptoed right in. Mmm, she smelled something super yummy. It was coming from the kitchen, so she followed her nose, and what do you think she saw sitting right there on the table? That's right, three bowls of porridge. While all that exploring had made DaisyLocks a little hungry, so first she tried the great big bowl. She took a little sip, and yowch, she quacked. That is way too hot. Okay, so next she tried the medium-sized bowl. She took a little spoonful and blech, she made a funny face. This porridge is too cold, it's all chilly.

2:05All right, one bowl left, she tried the teeny tiny little bowl, and guess what? Mmm, this one wasn't too hot, and it wasn't too cold. It was just right. It was so, so good that she ate every single bite. All gone. Well, with her tummy full of yummy porridge, DaisyLocks was ready to explore some more, so she waddled out of the kitchen and into the next room. And what did she find in the living room? You got it. Three chairs. She climbed up on the great big one first. Thump. Oof, she said. This chair is much too hard. It's like sitting on a rock. So she hopped off and tried the medium-sized chair. Wush, she sank way, way down into a big pile of soft pillows. It was so fluffy, she almost disappeared. Whoa, she giggled. This chair is way too soft. Okay, one last chair to try, the wee little one. She hopped on. Ah, she sighed. This one is perfect. It's just right.

3:14She wiggled back to get extra comfy, and then, crack, crash. Oh no, the little chair broke right into pieces on the floor. Oh my, all that excitement and that full tummy made DaisyLocks feel so sleepy. She let out a great big yawn. Yawn, and decided she needed to find a cozy spot for a little nap. She waddled upstairs and found a bedroom with, you guessed it, three beds. The great big bed was too hard. The medium-sized bed was too soft and squishy, but the wee little bed, well it wasn't too hard and it wasn't too soft, it was just right. So DaisyLocks snuggled right under the warm blankets. She closed her little eyes, and pretty soon she was fast asleep, dreaming happy little duck dreams. But just then, stom, stom, stom. Who do you think was coming back home from their walk? That's right, it was the three bears, and they were hungry and ready for their porridge.

4:14But the minute they opened the door, Papa Bear stopped. He looked down at the floor, and in his big, rumbly voice he growled, someone's been in our house. And look, he could see little muddy footprints all over the nice clean floor. They walked into the kitchen, Papa Bear looked at his big bowl and growled, someone's been eating my porridge, and Mama Bear looked at her bowl and said in her kind voice, oh dear, someone's been eating my porridge too. But then little baby bear looked at his tiny bowl and started to cry in his wee little voice, someone's been eating my porridge and they ate it all up. So they went into the living room, someone's been sitting in my chair, roared Papa Bear, and someone's been sitting in my chair, said Mama Bear as she straightened her pillows. Then poor baby bear saw his little chair, all in pieces on the floor. He said in his saddest little voice, someone sat in my chair and they broke it.

5:14The three bears followed those muddy footprints all the way up the stairs and into the bedroom, someone's been sleeping in my bed, ground Papa Bear, and someone's been sleeping in my bed too, said Mama Bear softly. And then baby bear tiptoed over to his tiny little bed and he whispered, someone's been sleeping in my bed and here she is! While all that whispering woke Daisy Locke's right up, she opened her eyes, what do you think she saw? She saw three bears looking right at her, quack, she cried, she was so surprised. She jumped out of that bed, hopped right out the open window and ran. Ran, ran as fast as her little legs could go, all the way back home. Well, the three bears tidied up their cottage and they even fixed baby bears' little chair. And you know what's funny? They weren't angry at all! Papa Bear's wish had come true, they'd had a visitor. And as for Daisy Locke's, well, she learned a very big lesson that day, it's never okay to go into someone's house unless you're invited.

6:19And that's the end of our story. Thanks for listening everyone!
