Commemoration
Today we commemorate Johann Sebastian Bach, Kantor. Born in 1685, Bach would become one of history’s most prolific, and gifted, composers. Not only did Bach compose, but he also performed, conducted, and taught music. For the last twenty-seven years of his life, Bach was responsible for the music in the four Lutheran churches in Leipzig, where he died in 1750. A devout and devoted Lutheran, Bach bequeathed to the Church a wealth of music, which he wrote to the glory of God and for the edification of all Christians.
