About this episode
Despite all that people had seen, despite the seven signs by which Jesus had demonstrated his identity and power, most of the people still did not believe. Seven hundred years before Jesus, the prophet Isaiah had predicted this very outcome in the beginning of Isaiah 53. What or who had hardened their hearts against Jesus? Isaiah gives us both a clue and a warning.

For Reflection:
The costs that come with faith were too high for many, both then and now.
- One painful cost is the cost of submission. If Jesus is Lord, then we are not. This cost was the reason for Pharaoh's hardness of heart. How has Jesus' lordship challenged the way you might otherwise direct your time, your treasure, and your talents?
- Another cost is the social. Have you or others you know paid a social price for following Jesus?
- Have these costs been worth it for you? Why?
