Daily Devo | God So Loved the World (John 3:14-21)

Highrock Church

About this episode

Nicodemus had asked Jesus how he might be born again. Jesus here explains that the Son of Man must be raised up, hinting at his coming crucifixion. "For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life." Just like the bronze serpent raised up on a pole in Number 21, Jesus must be raised up and we must look to him for life. What does it mean for you to look to Jesus today for life?

For Reflection:

During the Exodus, the people who were bitten by snakes had to look at a bronze serpent lifted up on a pole (Numbers 21:4ff). Jesus says that he must also be lifted up that we might have life.

- What does it mean for you to look to Jesus for life? In your day-to-day life, how do you look to Jesus? How might God be inviting you to look more deeply or earnestly?

- Consider memorizing John 3:16-17, perhaps in another language if you speak a second language.
