A cyclone watch covers areas from New Flume Bay to Port MacArthur, including communities like Boralula, Nambolware, Al-Yangula, Angukur, Gapawiak, and Bolman. Residents there face risks of damaging winds, storm tides, and heavy rain leading to flash flooding. The storm crossed far North Queensland as a Category 4 earlier this week and will track west across the top end through Sunday. Forecasters expect up to 200mm of rain in spots, which could swell rivers already hit by recent floods. Places like Groot Island might feel effects as soon as tomorrow afternoon, while Catherine and Besswick are still recovering from prior water issues.
