It's March 6th for the NBA. Let's get into it. The naysmith basketball hall of fame, just named the winners of its 2026 Kurt Gowdy Media Awards. Chris Carino, the Brooklyn Nets radio play by play voice, takes home one electronic media award. Seth Davis, a top college basketball writer and CBS analyst, gets the print media honor. Mike Fertello, the Emmy-winning analyst known for his illustrator work, earns the other electronic media award. And Magwally, founder of China's biggest sports TV channel, receives the Transformative Media Award. These awards honor folks and prints, electronic and new media who've done big things for basketball coverage. They're named after the late Kurt Gowdy, a Hall of Fame broadcaster who helps shape sports TV. Past winners include legends like Marv Albert, Bob Costas, and even teams like Inside the NBA. Carino has called Nets Games for over 20 years, including their NBA finals runs and first Brooklyn matchup.
He's also done Olympics and NCAA tournaments. Davis wrote for sports illustrator for two decades, host CBS shows, and runs his own college hoop site. Fertello coached in the NBA before breaking out on TV with NBC, Turner, and now the Clippers. Wolley built CCTV-5 from scratch in 1995, turning it into China's top sports network with hundreds of staff. He ran broadcasting for the Beijing Olympics and advised Yao Ming on basketball growth. All four have left huge marks on how fans follow the game worldwide. They'll get their awards during enshrine and weekend at the Gala on Friday, August 14, at Mohican Sun. Leo Wilcox picks up a lifetime achievement honor too. Check the Hall's site for tickets as details roll out. Thanks to our sponsor for supporting today's coverage. Do not just listen to podcasts.
