Joshua Clifton Demmels motorbike was found abandoned at Yorky Crossing in late January and this week the search resumed. Staring down the barrel of a jail term, Rowan Dennis went to the district court this morning with an unexpected request that the judge who sentenced him to a good behaviour bond over the death of his wife, cyclist Melissa Hoskins, not be the one to punish him for breaching it. Rowan, why do you want another judge for this case? Why are you asking for another judge? Is that what you worried about going to jail?

8:21Last year, Judge Ian Press took Dennis' license away for five years and warned him a transgression would very likely lead to prison. But in June, he was caught behind a wheel with his and his Hoskins two children right around the corner from where she was struck and killed by a car he was driving in 2023. What's wrong with this judge? There's nothing wrong with this judge. There's a very good judge. Dennis's lawyer refusing to give away his argument. If Judge Press is a very good judge, as you say, why don't you want to use him in this matter? Because there are legal principles are in play, which will be all explained on the 22nd. Before he was reported for driving while disqualified, he took to social media with a picture of a Porsche, captioning it as an absolute weapon. Dennis faces 12 months jail for the driving offense alone in addition to 17 months for breaching the Good Behaviour Bond. Dennis's legal team will fight the case for recusal at the next hearing
