0:00Welcome back, Queensland's top doctors are urging political leaders to lead by example and publicly get the flu vaccination. After Premier David Christopherley refused to roll up his sleeve for the cameras for the second year in a row, our reporter Declan Milton has the details. Good afternoon. Well, it's the second year running Queensland Premier David Chris Christopherley has not received the flu jab publicly with the state coming off the back of a record season. Queensland's vaccination rates are low, sitting at around 27%. Now the state's top health body, the AMA says politicians must roll up their sleeves to help build trust in science. The Premier's office has reportedly come out saying Christopherley has received the flu jab this year but says it must be a decision left up to the individual in consultation with their medical professionals. It's a position maintained by other state government ministers that getting vaccinated
1:01should be a personal choice and not be rushed. Steven Miles, the opposition leader, had the cameras there for his jab last week. Queensland's flu season is turning less seasonal. It's becoming an all year round virus but the big concern this year among health professionals is the fast moving super case strain. It spreads quickly poses more intense flu symptoms and can get people seriously unwell.
