About this episode
This week I am talking to Lee Cockerell. He is the former executive vice president of operations for the Walt Disney World resort. As the Senior Operating Executive for 10 years, Lee led a team of 40,000 cast members.
He was responsible for the operations of 20 resort hotels, 4 theme parks, 2 water parks, a shopping and entertainment village, the ESPN sports and recreation complex, in addition to the ancillary operations which supported the number one vacation destination in the world.
That is just a portion of his list of accomplishments and the things Lee Cockerell has been able to do.
Now Lee is helping other folks learn to create Disney magic. He's doing public speaking, and he's written four books.
Some of the reasons Lee has been so successful is that he is so disciplined and very organized.
Lee shares that by hiring better with more clarity, they train better, and have a better culture. He boils that down to "hire right, train them right, and treat them right" and the people will do a good job for you.
He teaches others how to "hire slow and fire fast" so companies are more successful. Combined with his principles of time management, Lee imparts wisdom for organization and dealing with the world.
