On Thursday, they waved defensive linemen Perion Winfrey, according to the league's daily transaction wire. Winfrey joined the Cowboys last June after playing in the U.F.L. A back injury sidelined him for most of the season, but he did return for one game and recorded two tackles. Before Dallas, Winfrey appeared in 13 games for the Cleveland Browns in 2022. The Browns released him the following summer after he faced accusations of threatening a woman with a gun. He then played one game for the New York Jets in 2023. Across his Browns and Jets stints, he tallyed 25 tackles and a half sack. This move gives the Cowboys more flexibility as they shape their roster for the new year. Winfrey now hits free agency.
