Cowboys Sign Bullard, Shoring Up Defense

0:00On March 28, the Dallas Cowboys just added some grit to their defensive line by signing veteran Jonathan Bullard. This guy's heading into his 11th NFL season, coming over from the New Orleans Saints where he played last year. He's reuniting with Cowboys D-Line coach Marcus Dixon, someone he worked with back in Minnesota. Bullard was a third-round pick by the Chicago Bears at a Florida. He's bounced around to Arizona, Seattle, Atlanta, and the Vikings from 2022 to 2024. Career-wise, he's pocketed over $11 million, but only has 6.5 sacks, mostly shining as a runstopper with more snaps against the rush lately. Last season, the Cowboys had one of the league's worst defenses, giving up 511 points the most in the NFL. That led to firing their defensive coordinator Matt Eberfluss after just one year. Now they've got Christian Parker, their 4th DC in 4 years, who came from the Eagle's secondary coach spot.

1:00Parker is switching them to a 3-4 front, starring Quentin Williams and Kenny Clarke up front. Bullard slotted as a rotational guy to help there, fitting their push for run defenders. They traded for Ed rusher Rashan Gary from Green Bay, and signed Otito Agbania in Free Agency 2. All these moves show Dallas's dead series about fixing that leaky defense before the season kicks off.
