Cowboys Free Up Cap Space, Ready for Free Agency

The Dallas Cowboys just restructured contracts for three key players, quarterback Dak Prescott, wide receiver CD Lamb, and left guard Tyler Smith. This move helps free up-salary cap space as the team gears up for free agency. Prescott signed his $4-year $240 million extension last year, while Lamb inked a $4-year $136 million. Deal around the same time. Smith got his $4-year $96 million extension back in September. These aren't the first tweaks for Prescott and Lamb. They both restructured last offseason two. The Cowboys also slapped the franchise tag on wide receiver George Pickens this year, giving them until July 15th to work out a long-term deal. That could open even more cap room. Team owner Jerry Jones hinted at more changes coming. He mentioned plans to rework contracts for defensive linemen, like Quinn and Williams, Kenny Clark, and Osa Odidi Zua.

1:01Jones put it bluntly at the scouting combine, saying he dipped into future cap space to make it happen. Jones called it, borrowing from tomorrow to push harder today, showing how aggressive the Cowboys are feeling. This comes right before the NFL's big spending window. Free agency kicks off March 11th at 4 p.m. Eastern, but teens can start talking deals during the legal tampering period. Beginning noon on Monday.
