The Council updated its local laws in February to prohibit camping in public spaces. In April, officials began clearing the site with help from police, rangers, and heavy equipment like bulldozers. Many residents had already been displaced from another nearby park before this action. Justice Paul Smith delivered the judgment on Friday, stating the removal of their belongings broke human rights protections. This decision highlights tensions over homeless clearances in the region.
