Story Transcript:

He: ערפל כבד כיסה את ביצת השפעת כשיונה, לבוש בענף רימונים מכובד, יצא לשדה.
En: A heavy fog covered the Bitzat Hashpa'at when Yonah, dressed in a distinguished sprig of pomegranates, went out to the field.

He: רוח קרירה נשבה בין העצים המסוקסים, כשהם מחזיקים עליהם עלים בצבעי סתיו שונים.
En: A cool breeze blew between the gnarled trees, which held leaves in various autumn colors.

He: יממה לפני ראש השנה, יום של תקווה והתחדשות.
En: A day before Rosh Hashanah, a day of hope and renewal.

He: יונה, עם חיוך קטן, ידע שזו תהיה הזדמנות טובה להפגין את כישורי ההרפתקה שלו בפני חבריו, אלי וטובה.
En: Yonah, with a small smile, knew this would be a good opportunity to showcase his adventurous skills to his friends, Eli and Tova.

En: They came to see the forest and marshes, a forest filled with fog and mystery.

En: But soon a problem became apparent.

En: Yonah lost a shoe in the deep mud.

En: There were rumors of a mischievous creature living among the marsh trees, fond of hiding shirts and shoes.

He: יונה הרגיש שהוא מוכרח להחזיר את הנעל לפני שחבריו יתחילו לפקפק בו.
En: Yonah felt he had to retrieve the shoe before his friends began to doubt him.

He: "יונה," אמר אלי בחיוך קל, "אנחנו כאן לעזור.
En: "Yonah," said Eli with a slight smile, "We're here to help.

He: כולנו רוצים לחזור בזמן לארוחת חג.
En: We all want to get back in time for the holiday meal."

He: "יונה הוציא מזכרונו את הסיפורים ששמע על היצור.
En: Yonah pulled from his memory the stories he had heard about the creature.

En: They had to be careful and cunning.

En: "Let's pretend we're leaving," he suggested.

En: "The creature will come out of its hiding place, and then we can catch the shoe."

En: While having fun, they continued to talk loudly and walk around the marsh.

He: החיוך על פניו של יונה חזר כששמע רשרוש באחת הצדדים.
En: The smile returned to Yonah's face when he heard a rustle from one side.

He: "עכשיו!
En: "Now!"

He: " קרא יונה.
En: Yonah called.

He: הם רצו למקום שבו שמעו את קול היצור.
En: They ran to where they heard the sound of the creature.

He: והוא שם, עם הנעל ביד.
En: And there it was, with the shoe in hand.

He: טובה עשתה רעש גדול על ידי תלישה של כמה ענפי עץ.
En: Tova made a loud noise by pulling some tree branches.

He: היצור כולו מבולבל ויונה הצליח להרים את הנעל מהאדמה המשוננת.
En: The creature, completely confused, allowed Yonah to lift the shoe from the rugged ground.

He: השמש שקעה כאשר הם יצאו מהיער, עם הנעל המאושרת בבעליה.
En: The sun was setting as they left the forest, with the shoe happily reunited with its owner.

He: הנעל הייתה מעט בוצית, אך יונה לא דאג.
En: The shoe was a bit muddy, but Yonah didn't worry.

He: הוא ידע שעכשיו הוא יכול לחזור הביתה לארוחת ערב ראש השנה עם חבריו.
En: He knew he could now return home for the Rosh Hashanah dinner with his friends.
