Couple Banned from Owning Animals After Neglecting Dogs

0:00On March 25, a couple in their 70s from Oldberry has been banned from owning animals for 10 years after neglecting two dogs so badly they had to be euthanized. 72-year-old Ian Yarnold and 66-year-old Doreen Yarnold pleaded guilty to welfare offenses involving their pets, Sandy and Isabel. The problems went on from November 12, 2024, until February 5, 2025. Inspectors found the dogs in terrible shape with untreated skin issues and eye problems that left them in constant pain and unable to see properly in, one case. In court, Aved explained that any responsible owner would have sought help much sooner for such obvious suffering. The Yarnold's claimed they did their best, but the judge wasn't convinced. On March 19, at Birmingham Magistrate's Court, both got 18 months community orders with 18 days of rehab activities. They also have to pay 100 pounds in costs and 114 pounds surcharge each.
