One month ago, prices set at $2.94 and a year back they were $3.08. Costco shoppers are feeling some relief at the pumps, where gas typically runs about 20-30 cents cheaper per gallon than nearby spots. The warehouse club uses low prices to draw in members and their strategy helps soften the blow during spikes. When prices drop, Costco doesn't cut as quickly, but they catch up fast when costs climb, keeping them competitive while padding profits of it. A $60 gold star membership pays for itself after saving 20 cents on just 300 gallons. Lately, Costco added standalone gas stations in California and plans one in Hawaii, with
