'Cooperate, or you'll be beheaded just like this man' - The Memory Project

Teka Teka

About this episode

The victim was arrested shortly after the declaration of Martial Law in September 1972. He was ordered to give his captors information about the CPP/NPA which he didn't have, under threat of being beheaded just like a man in another cell; and of his friend being killed. "I demanded to have a lawyer represent me, but they claimed they were the law since martial law was already declared then," he wrote. He was freed in 1973, but by the 1990s, when he executed his affidavit, he said he still carried the scars of torture. "All that I seek now is truth and justice, just like the fate of my fellow ex-detainees, dead and alive."
