I went, yeah, I was in work and I was like, I'm a bit cold. I'm not even going to get my hoodie. And then what I normally do with my hoodie because I'm just so used to being by myself. I just

1:04put my head up and if I'm kept looking at me going, oh you look really cozy. I was like, oh is this unprofessional? Well, I've been wearing jumpers in school this week for the first time in many months and you don't know this yet. Oh, when night this week I did have the electric blanket on a little bit. No, no, no. I did. But I was a bit nervous so I made sure I turned it off nice and early before you even thought about going to bed so you couldn't tell. It just just toasted me a little bit. So you get one of those dual ones. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Hot on the right after bed. Cold on the left after bed. Little insight for you there listeners. Yeah, I've had a nice week this week. We didn't do a bonus podcast last week as I potentially hinted might happen in the last week's podcast because there was a couple of you got lots of things to do. So we're not going to do it. Well, I know I said that there was going to be these Nintendo event things happening in the evenings that I wanted to watch and that was an Apple event this week. And I have only been for episodes of Coronation Street for us to enjoy this week. And on the whole, it was a quite good week. I'm going to say there's definitely ups and downs that we'll be talking about later. Yeah. Been all right. But now on an all right week. We have. I don't know. I've got nothing else to say. You say you call it pads you say pads if you got your pads. I've never spoken to any woman ever than you about this kind of thing I know you say pads I don't know how many women you spoke into about it but definitely sanitary towels does sound quite apart from a 1965 hospital matron or a school nurse says sanitary towels you just don't say it sanitary towels does sound a bit dirty winter. 13:47say and it was really invigorating. It was very critical. It was very critical. Set up as a joke so that David can make fun of something that women never say. Well that's the worst thing that I've been doing for a year this week on coronation street this week. No it's not going to be a grouping a week. That was just my family's hat. Which is also my hair. We had a bit more of a detrimental story this week as well because it was her birthday on Monday and I was convinced that going into Monday's episode there was going to be some horrible drama and she'd forget something or other but she didn't it all turned out quite well actually and we got a trip to the Rover's toilet so I was very happy to see that. It sounds weird maybe but you know you like it when sex you haven't seen for a while. Come back on. Right what is our click right this week? 14:52Oh yeah. Kit gave him a bit of a lamp didn't he this week. He put a chimney on him. He did. Well Ross found out through the conversation that Kit is... What did he find out? This is a whole week. Is it the kit was going out with Sarah or is it that Todd knows with friends with Sarah or... This whole week was hilarious just watching um because I didn't see the scene but I know what happened that Todd found out what's up with Kit and then all the way through the week you can tell he's just he get tested so many times to see whether he's going to say it and you know he's dying to dying to go. Kit's got cancer. Todd's not a gossip but... No but there were so many times when people were like oh what's wrong with him? Alcombe is being so miserable. Oh what's wrong with him? Alcombe punched me in the face. Oh what's wrong with him Alcombe's? Oh yeah because he says to Lisa doesn't he's like read the room Lisa when she got him but... I said this in a short but this was another example of

15:55Corey's stitching Lisa kind of swaying up because she's always a bitch in the worst possible moment. Yeah I know. Wasn't she like how like poor she can't catch a break. If normally fine to be horrible to Kit but at the moment you can't. She she can cry into her fan mail drummer. Right so we've got Ross so he knows that Todd is friends with Sarah. Where can I drop his next sinister move? I did I kind of thought about it at the time but I haven't thought about it at all since is he going he obviously wants to get his own back on Kit. I thought he'd given up on it but I'm obviously naive about the ways of prison officers. But he doesn't work in the same prison as Sarah. I think in Coronation Street I think he probably does. Okay he's going to go. Just the way same way Aggie works in every single ward in the entire hospital. Do you think they've just got a little you know they're actually next to each other and there's a nice little revolving door between them. Yeah one side. The prisoners don't get through it. No one side is like the man's side

Not all of the week and there was still I was still like today. I was like okay I'm a bit over it but I was for Tuesday and Wednesday's episode at least again. Oh Jodie's quite watchable for a change but then it kind of let me down because it was like oh Thursday, cliffhanger, dad's back and I don't feel that they it really landed. I don't think there was enough payoff on Friday's episode but yeah Jodie sneaking around and discovering kitten Bethany together. Well that they had been together was quite juicy for me but I saw

On my own same as last week as Gemma steps away and we'll return later to talk about the very juicy details about who kits mystery woman was. I did right before I sort of talk about everything that happened. I don't want to sound like a broken record or anything because you know last week I did have a little mini rant about the fact that this storyline is coming again and there's another another cancer storyline which is who wants this who wants this. Jean-Aid, Celeste, Julie, Kevin,

21:14Toia. It's it's really really miserable. It's obviously very triggering for a lot of people. It's going on at the same time as look at our stories for this week right. So we've got a story about a guy with stationary breast cancer. We've got a storyline about somebody who's been murdered. Storyline is someone who's recovering from a stroke after being strangled during sex and the story about someone who's dying from dementia. Those are literally the four stories we've got this week. I just want to bid our lightness here. I do not want another cancer storyline and also it's kit who's actually no not one of my favourite characters and I'm not it's this is clearly a story that's going to run for a little while so that there may be quite few of these solo spots for me in the coming months and that's just you know something like Toia's and it's over and done within two weeks but the fact that he's been given such a grave diagnosis

22:18makes me think that we could be in for the long haul here. It's not been revealed I believe whether he survives or not yet. If I was if I was a gambling man I would say you know when I found out about this I would have said oh they're not going to kill him off they're not going to get rid of kit. He's really is he popular? I think he's popular. He's definitely popular with the people behind the show because they keep letting put him in stories. I think that I don't I doesn't feel like they want would want to get rid of kit but maybe I don't know maybe Jacob Roberts has said I'm well being worked very hard on Coronation Street perhaps I fancy something new because if you look at Dee Dee I wouldn't have said originally that she was going to go after what three years was it? Oh I don't remember but she was what she was in so so so many big stories it felt like maybe that was a bit of burnout a bit of Dee Dee burnout of shenny burnout I don't know

23:20so let's not let's not look towards where the end is at the moment because I still think that it's going to be a wild or whatever happens but yeah I think that another kit story another cancer story just fills me with doom and gloom however however and I'm saying this in an empty room at the moment so you guys can get in the first to know I think this could possibly be the story that gets me to like it because I I actually really liked Monday's episode despite everything I've just said I think it was really well done I think the script was fantastic it was Joe Parkinson's on Monday wasn't it and yeah we had the stuff with Debbie's party and you you can't go wrong there really can yet but I think that everything that did with kit was was really well written it was really well performed and I did start to feel oh maybe I maybe I could like him here and I think

24:23it was because of partly because of the way that he took the news and he you know Cory people always keep it a secret when they get horrible diagnosis diagnosis nobody ever wants to share it with their nearest and dearest and he only blurted out a toad because he was getting at him but he was kind of he was that he wasn't making a joke out of it but he was kind of looking on the positive side maybe more about it and it's like oh you got it out on me then or whatever it was I don't know and the fact that he didn't sink into a massive depressive slump was quite positive for me yeah I I enjoyed watching his reaction and I'm very curious about what his state of mind is going to be going forward he obviously had his CT scan on was a Thursday's episode yesterday I don't know how long the results of that take to come in but yeah he was you know he was just checking

25:25around the rest of the week wasn't he well one of the nights at least and yeah not letting it not letting it color his mood quite so much so yeah I think I think I kind of like to kit this week it feels really funny to say this out loud because I've just been sliding the character all the time this is never it's never been anything to do with Jacob Roberts performance it's just the he's a miserable get isn't he he's a big gruff miserable pouting get and he wasn't so much this week and he had quite a lot to be miserable and gruff and pout about so hey let's let's see where this goes um Monday's episode started off quite interestingly I suppose it's not unique or novel quite so much anymore because they've done it a few times in recent years but it was very much a let's follow kit through the course of a day kind of episode for the most part so I quite liked the first person view of the the woman exiting what we know it's

26:30bathany now don't we leaving his room at the beginning of the episode because that was what I was really wanting to tune in to find on Monday and I was I got to avoid spoilers I don't want it don't want to see it it we said last week it was fairly obviously going to be bathany even though there was no clues about it for everyone the universities were decided it was bathany and it was but I quite appreciate how they strung us along for a bit longer and hey if I hadn't been looking online and doing the podcast and then looking to tweets and everything maybe I would have never even guessed bathany because they seem to have no chemistry but anyway I quite I quite appreciated them going into a first person perspective like it was a game of doom or something which is quite um quite fitting really because it does spell doom in many ways anyway um so he she goes off and then he wakes up and has a look at a picture of him and Sarah on the lock phone of his love so the lock screen of his phone and he's kind of like oh shakin his head very guiltily

27:30about this um but he's got he's got more things to think about today so he goes to the hospital as in in his um role as a detective constable somebody's been beaten up this kid or was it is he 1819 or also um he's been in either beaten up or in some kind of accident I can't remember um but you know he's chatting away his mum's there and he's he's taking down the details and everything just normal day for kit really then he's in the cabin later um show no and joe dee are there too and they do try to they try to make us think oh it must have enjoyed because look she's given him the sassy slinky silt tree looks um and he's like oh good morning dc green and he's not in the mood for any of this it's like a is it um I think probably yeah maybe from the way that they were talking to him then it was obviously people going into it last week thinking oh is it not three some with with those two and shona is it and definitely you could tell from the way shona was

28:34acting then that she she was not involved and that whatever she was doing on the sofa with a mum Friday it was luckily not leading to anything but yeah they they did try and make a thing that maybe um it had been it had been joe dee we see him at work later Lisa swains pinching the sweets and he's like I'm not in the mood kit uh Lisa sorry I'm not in the mood boss um don't talk about why and she says look you need to go to the hospital again because we need more detailed description of yeah the sailant the guy who beat up this this guy uh and he gets that and it looks like the kid has died um and the mum's being told she's bursting into tears I uh is interesting because you don't you don't get characters like that very much do you're just the the side characters and they've got their own you feel like they've got their own proper little story going on and and the mum I thought she didn't have much to do but I thought that she gave great performance and we got to see kind of a little bit of kits reaction to this that that was that was the whole point wasn't it he was in the hospital he knew that later that day he was going to have his own appointment there and it could well be his life in the balance as it was for this kid so it was um yeah it was

29:41he gave him pause for thought um so I thought that was that was nicely done he goes and and he sits in the waiting room with his headphones in uh and he's called in where he's told he's got stage three breast cancer and oh my gosh so stage three that's pretty bad it's pretty bad it's not a case of there's no coming back from this but he's definitely it's not going to be a case of like well let's just get rid of it and hope for the best he's going to be having is he's going to be having his chemo they said um what's the doctor said he's wildly obviously got to get a mastectomy because because this is in this is in his lymph nodes lymph nodes as well he's got more scans to do the doctor does say that the statistics are in his favor survival wise um but yeah he's he's kind of taken aback by this and um Jacob Roberts has said himself or I didn't realize that men could breast cancer so I wanted to portray it like kit didn't know that men could get breast cancer as well

30:45um I don't I don't know that this is a common misconception really when obviously when people mostly think about breast cancer they think of it as women but I don't know I would have thought I would have thought that kit would have known but I don't know I don't want to say why he doesn't know I don't know anything do I? Jim is always surprised by things like I don't know that I suppose a common knowledge but hey um so kits like what on earth I got I'm a bloke and the doctor pretty much in as many words as well you're soap character aren't you you're statistically more likely as a soap character to get a very very uncommon disease because oh you know Debbie 55 dementia it could happen what was the other one that we had recently I'm oh gosh I can't remember it seems like well Betsy and her stroke it could happen it feels like if ever there's the slightest of chances that somebody other to particular age group or

31:53or gender I suppose in this case if it's just a little bit possible that they could get this condition coronation streets downfired well gonna make sure that the character gets that condition because you've got to raise awareness of it oh you don't really do your coronation street but hey hope everybody knows now that men can get breast cancer so there we go can we stop doing the story now no we know about it anyway so they do the whole thing as well I wish I'd put a tweet out predicting this beforehand because you know going into Monday's episode of course I knew that this was gonna happen I think there a good a good number of the viewers on Monday went into the episode knowing that this was gonna happen because curry put out the big press release about it and it was quite difficult last week on the podcast not just blurting it out because again I obviously knew a lot of you guys knew but I know not everybody knew I was talking to somebody that we can that

Is this an issue based storyline about bipolar and it felt like Doug held the key to the box that explained now the piece of paper inside that explained what Jody's deal is and then she stole in it. But it really did she put it at her own box didn't she and so I was waiting for this massive Lord dump or explanation or or something in today's episode and it never came. Do you know what this is? This is like when you're playing a game and you get to a cutscene. Now you're talking my language. This is like in the cutscene begins but no it doesn't it just cuts off imagine if that happened. This is part of I you know I've been very very positive towards Coronation Streets move to half an hour episodes I've enjoyed

1:21:14it half an hour I've enjoyed it every day but this one here was like this kind of needed to be an hour didn't it because they wanted to have good. At the very least you need to pick the story up the next day yeah yeah I've had up with these cliff hangers that don't go anywhere. They've had it a few times where there's been a cliff hanger at the end and you think oh surely they've got to pick up where this left off like when thing he died like when Tim goes to Richie's house and finds his dead wife on the floor. Like surely next episode we'll pick up right from that. No wait to see it's the next day it's the next day and they didn't even do it they barely even attempted to explain it in today's episode did though it was he comes into the cafe and she's like oh yeah I just slammed the door in your face last night or he says you slammed the door in my face but he was in the front room and Bethany was there how did that work? It doesn't it doesn't join up it doesn't join up. If you're dad who you've not seen for seven months is it shows up on your doorstep

1:22:18asking for Shofoshona? I'm not saying this is what they've done but it feels like they've cut whoever it is that joins the scripts up. It's not always a case but this was a really glaring kind of you just need to pick up where the scene left off or introduce him at the beginning of the episode yesterday or the beginning of the episode today. There's no time for it but they could they could have they could have tweaked what would have been the difference of today's episode starting there's a knock on the door come in postman what you're not the postman it's dad and then picked it up from there I'm like I get that they wanted the clip hang it it was a great clip hanger particularly for anybody who wasn't expecting it I mean there's probably a few people to be honest that watching it and go who's he who's he's famous actor is he but yeah it's we're supposed to remember and still care it's all very good to say all this in Captain
