4:34Well, the price of gasoline right now in California, the average is 588, and that is almost $2 more than the national average of 401. lowest price, 327 in Oklahoma, and Iowan Kansas, Iowa and Kansas are about the same. So we are way above about two bucks above some states, and you know what, most states are still in the threes, most states are still in the threes. It's because of California, I think the average has bumped up over four bucks a gallon. Another thing going up in price is jet fuel. We're going to talk with Alex Stone from ABC News because the price of everything involving airlines is going way up. Because of the war in Iran, and we can't play the jet fuel prices on Newsom. Alex, tell us, it's not to say you won't try to blame him on Newsom though, you know,

5:35by time you're done, I'll figure out a way. So yeah, we got a new jet fuel data today, and when the plane pulls up to the gate, they're not like, well, do I want low grade, mid grade, high grade gas, they get jet fuel that comes out of that ground or out of that truck, and they get what the price is, and whatever that location. And today, since the beginning of the war, we know that the prices have gone way up. And really from the beginning of the year, this new data shows that the jet fuel prices have doubled due to oil prices spiking and the war in Iran. But the average price of jet fuel starting this week, it was at $4.62 a gallon compared that to even just a few weeks ago, February 27th, right, before the war started, it was at $2.50. So the price has doubled from the beginning of the year, but even from late February, it's gone from $2.50 up to $4.62. So the airline industry, they're saying that this is a big deal now, that they think this is going to go on long term, they are projecting through 2027 that oil prices will be elevated

6:40and that they're going to have to deal with this. The airline industry uses 20 billion gallons of jet fuel every year, so they use a lot. And that is why, as we've talked about last week, when I sat down on the CEO of United Airlines, that they across the board, not just United, but all of the airlines say that the prices have got to go up about 20% off said that. And that even at the current price, let alone if it keeps going up, but at the current price that the United alone will spend about $11 billion more and fuel this year than what they were expecting. And it is across the board, Delta and Americans saying today that they've already spent each about $400 million more and fuel since the start of the war in Iran. That blue today announcing it's increasing checked bag fees to offset the price of fuel. First checked bag is going to be $49 bucks now at peak times, $39 and non-peak times to pay for fuel. But this is real money. For every penny the jet fuel goes up, that's $200 million more the U.S. airlines have

7:41got to pay. And so it's a lot for every when any, yeah, when there's 200 million total for all the for a year for all of the airlines because of the amount of fuel that they've got to use. And I mean, it's $11 billion just for United where we are right now. So I guess there, I mean, they're raising prices on every aspect of travel, right? Well, yeah, I mean, they're all doing it differently. Jet blue today is saying it's going to be the bag fees and you know, some people are like, just raise the price of the ticket instead of all this ancillary stuff. Here's our going the ticket route, but I would assume that you're going to start to pay more for everything that over time that everything's going to get a bit more expensive. But right now the Americans, Delta, Zalaska, United, those are being passed along in ticket prices. And this is all a little bit delayed because people who are flying today, typically most people aren't going to be buying a last minute ticket that they probably plan the trip today, you know, three, four, six months ago.

8:41So this is more looking at later in spring, summer travel, travel, fall travel, where they think they're going to begin to see the cutbacks from today. And then just economics 101 that its prices go up, people cut back on their travel and on their spending is they don't want to spend that money on travel. So then airlines have got their supply and demand to come into all of this, it comes into it as well that if fewer people are traveling, then they got to figure out pricing to get people to travel. And as fewer people travel, the airlines, like the spirits of the world, the frontiers of the world, where they are ultra low cost carriers that they are about moving a lot of people. They're about filling those seats. They begin to have bigger problems. There's already been talk about jet blue, potentially trying to find a buyer. Spirit has been trying to find a buyer for quite a while and then deals have fallen through and they've gotten into doing furloughs and bankruptcies and different things. So they've already been on rough footing, but it's going to get interesting over the next couple of months. So with Trump and his personality and the nature of this war, he could pull the plug on the war in a minute and suddenly the crisis is over.

9:47Yeah, I mean, if they could announce that the straight of hormones is open and flowing and that there's no conflict there whatsoever any longer, then great. And all of a sudden if oil prices take a nose dive, then then a lot of this would be hopefully backpedaled. Typically, airline prices do, they're kind of gas prices. They come back down slowly. I don't know about checked bag fees. If jet blue is ever going to bring those back down, but ticket prices would come back down. But they are having to work on the belief and the thinking that prices are not going to come back down. The airline industry right now is looking at oil prices being elevated through 2027 and having to deal with this and potentially at least a united of the price of oil going up. It could go as high as $175 a barrel, which would be a major, you know, problem for all of us. And we can imagine the gas prices here in California, if oil went up to $175 a barrel, but they've got to prepare for that because they move so much fuel that they they've got

10:48to use so much of it that they've got to get ready for it. And hopefully it never gets to that point and then the prices go back down. I heard today for every $10 that oil goes up that you get you get a 25 cent gas price increase. So the oil went up from $60 to $100 a barrel. So the gas prices went up roughly about a dollar. So that's the formula for every $10. Yeah. Right now we're like 102 a barrel as of this afternoon and there was a spike earlier today. It went up to like 105. So yeah. And it bounces around obviously. And hopefully all this planning that the airlines are doing that poof, it goes away. And the TSA people are coming back. They are. We saw the lines go way down just based on some coming back, but it's not totally back normal that the TSA every day they give us the day before is numbers. So the TSA says still around 30% of TSA officers called out sick in Atlanta yesterday, 24% in Houston. It's not the 40% that it was last week and end of the weekend and lines are coming down,

11:53but it's still not back normal as we talked about yesterday. A lot of this is still and I'm guessing that the numbers today that we'll get tomorrow, but for today will be even lower as as officers come back. But still there are some saying until they know they're going to get paid in the future, because the president's executive order does not indicate whether his order is going to have them continuing to get paid or if this was one lump sum and then it stops again until Congress gets a deal. And until they get all of their back pay, which they haven't gotten yet and things for like overtime that the summer saying that they still don't want to come back or can't come back until they know they've got a solid paying job again. If they're getting a lot of them have gotten side gigs and they may be working at Taco Bell or a Del Taco or Amazon warehouse, that sort of thing. And until they know they can quit that and come back and actually get a paycheck to support their family that they're not necessarily coming back. Alex don't thank you very much. Good. Thanks John. And the average across the country is $4 and a penny, but that includes California. Otherwise it would be in the 390s somewhere. So we distort the nationwide price because we're 12% of the population. All right, when we come back, I want to talk about a poll that's gotten a lot of attention in newscasts and talk shows and in political circles. This poll is complete and utter nonsense. Total horse manure. I cannot I can't I have many more derogatory things to say about it, but I'm constrained by FCC rules. This is like the worst poll and I can't believe really in this town. How many news people I guess they're not even paying attention, but they got they got

I want to be unequivocal about this. There is a poll that unfortunately has embedded itself into the entire news cycle, and it is the worst poll I have ever seen. In years ago, no way this would have made it into the news. For the LA Times credit, they wrote a story basically debunking the poll, and I think in the old days they just wouldn't have published it. Nobody, I wouldn't have talked about it. In fact, I didn't want to, because I saw what this was right away. It's called a push poll, and it's used by campaigns or willing allies to push people

19:08into an answer. Then you release it, hopefully the news media jumps on it, and you have now changed the perception of the race. Every candidate wants to do this. Somebody in Nithy Rahman's camp pulled this off. They got some organization at Loyola Marymount, and that's the key. You have to be connected to something which makes the poll look legitimate. Because somebody had a friend at Loyola Marymount, and they had a center here. I don't know if this is some kind of think tank or what. The Loyola Marymount's university center for the study of Los Angeles. Who the hell knows what that is and who finances it. They did a poll, and then the headline said, Nithy Rahman, 33% of the vote, basses at 17. Rahman had a bass, two to one, Adam Miller, who's a tech executive from the west side that

20:13hardly anybody knows, has 13% and wouldn't you know Spencer Pratt had 12%. The whole thing just fits in exactly. This would be the dream that Nithy Rahman would like to have. His numbers that fall into alignment like this. The LA Times credit, Noel Goldberg, wrote a piece pointing out and not explicitly saying it, but after you read this thing, you realize this is a load of crap this poll. Because what they did in unlike other polls, respondents were given brief descriptions of the candidates, including their occupations and political priorities. So it wasn't just who you vote for, would you vote for ramen, bass, Pratt or Miller. Rahman was labeled as a progressive LA City Council member, focused on housing affordability, homelessness and systemic reform. Bass was incumbent mayor of Los Angeles veteran legislator, focused on homeless days since

21:17very clever. In other words, bass, oh, she's part of the part of the establishment here veteran been around for a long time. Negative connotations in this climate, but ramen, progressive housing affordability, homelessness, systemic reform. What does that mean? It's gibberish, but it sounds good, doesn't it? Ramen is not well known in the city at all. She represents her district, which is Los Feliz and Silver Lake and part of the San Fernando Valley, north of the mountains. And when Emerson did a poll, they found out that 51% of the voting public was undecided, but you weren't allowed to be undecided in this Loyola Marymount poll. There was no undecided. That's, see again, they push you into a corner. They give the candidates that they want to win a favorable description.

22:20Here's a tip off, nearly 50% of L.A. said they prefer a democratic socialist. No, no, no, no, that's nowhere near the truth. It's single digits supported democratic socialist, single digits. According to Mike Trio, who's a consultant for moderate Democrats, he's not representing anyone in the race, he says he's done polling across the city. The democratic socialist popularity is much lower. Romano, Nithia Ramendo, is a member of the DSA. She pays dues and they've endorsed her in the past for city council. Trio said, if you believe this poll, I'd bridges to sell you on 1st Street, 6th Street, and Alameda Street, and there's no bridge on Alameda. The poll was basically A to Z in Nithia Ramendo's contact list.

23:23And it might have been because only 370 people were pulled. We've got almost 4 million people in the city. They pulled 370 people and half of them want a democratic socialist, according to this poll. That's impossible. Paul Mitchell is vice president of the bipartisan voted data firm, political data incorporated. He said the poll sample size was too small to draw conclusions. And the poll was less reliable. It was conducted over the course of more than a month. Usually, polls are conducted over about a two-day period and there's triple the number of people interviewed. And with many of the candidates relatively unknown, the descriptors would push, would bump up, the percentages that each candidate would get. Because again, you can't say, I don't know who they are. You can't say, I'm undecided, that's not allowed.

24:23Mitchell said, I'm sure Nithia Ramendo doesn't have citywide name recognition. But that description is really great. When we come back, I want to tell you what the guy who directed the poll has to say about the poll. Because if you decode his gibberish, he's basically saying, well, this is not a real poll. Don't trust this. Don't trust the poll I put out. There's a reason we got these numbers. And I'm saying this because this has been reported in much of the media, uncritically, unanalytically, apparently nobody recognizes a push poll anymore. Nobody recognizes a public relations ploy by one of the campaigns, and it actually worked. Now, I didn't say when they all had times published it because it's already out there on the social media. And they did the right thing by debunking it. Because what else are you going to do?

25:25The story's out there. But this is what they call slop now. It's like when you see bad AI cartoons or bad AI video, they call it slop. This is polling slop. Tell you more when we come back. 26:26chair of the California Air Resources Board. Because Newsom pushed for years that disastrous policy, trying to force everybody to buy electric cars no matter what. Even though he never built an electrical grid, nor did he build enough charging stations, not even close. We had a tiny fraction of what's necessary. And all all the regulations and all the taxes that has driven gas up to six dollars a gallon. This is all part of his EV mandate. And the house committee wants an investigation. They're subpoenaing all the documents that went on between the California Air Resources Board and the governor and the Attorney General. And we'll talk about this with Michael Gates, who's running for Attorney General on the Republican side. Now I want to continue because this is really important. It's a strange election cycle that we're in both for the governor and for the mayor. Because in the governor's cycle, you've got two Republicans leading leading. And you have

27:31eight Democrats. Apparently most people don't like most of the Democrats. Even Democratic voters don't like this crowd. They're a bunch of losers. And there's a lot of crazy people in there. So that's why. And you have a sizable undecided group of voters. And here in the mayor's race, everybody hates bass. I mean, bass is approval rating is in the 20s. And that's her vote total, according to the Emerson votes, 25%, which means 75% do not want to vote for her. But they don't don't know who they don't know who Nithya Rahman is. A lot of people didn't know who Spencer Pratt is. And the other candidates don't matter. I mean, they'll shave off, you know, 5%. Just because just because. But it's an undecided group of voters. So because it's such a wide open field. And because most people are undecided, a smart political campaign plays a trick

28:36on the voting public. And what you do is you set up a mechanism to create a fake poll, a push poll where you word the questions or the descriptions of the candidates in such a way that as soon as you hear the description, you get warm and fuzzy. So people connected to Nithya Rahman put together this fake push poll, again, designed to push people into Nithya Rahman's corner. And they'd launch it by using the credibility of Loyola Merrimount University. And somehow they got this this stage who runs the Loyola Merrimount Center for the Study of Los Angeles. And they did the poll. And the poll was 370 people. And it took more than a month to get the answers. I guess they did this online. It just violates every polling concept there is. And most

29:41polling sucks to begin with. So they took all the polling concepts that barely worked and replaced them with just random nonsense. You can't ask people over the course of a month and say, hey, look, here's the most popular candidate. Most people don't know who she is. There's no way she got 33% of the vote. Go ahead. Go out on the street. Ask any ask 10 people outside her district. You know, never heard of Nithya Rahman. They don't know. But they described her as somebody focusing on housing affordability, homelessness, and systemic reform. That sounds good. And so she gets 33% of the vote in this poll. Bass has 17. And then then the third place contestant is Adam Miller at 13. Trust me. Most people have really have no idea who he is. And then Spencer Pratt, who is at least has some notoriety, is it 12%? Let's just scoop it. But again, this was by design. And now with social media and now with

30:47news departments degraded the way they are, you have mostly young progressives or dumb young progressives. They don't know what a push poll is. They just get everybody to repeat the same nonsense. Like, whoa, looks like Nithya Rahman is taking a commanding, well, no, she hasn't. The commanding lead is among those undecided and who don't know who most of these people are. And everybody who's in the business says, and there's some Democrats are saying, no, no, no. Nobody knows who these are. These people are. So the guy, the guy who oversaw the poll. Let me get his name here. It's Guerrera. Fernando Guerrera? Yeah. And he's the director of Loyola Marymount Center for the Study of Los Angeles. So Fernando Guerrera says, well, this poll shows if only positive descriptors are used and context

31:47is provided, Rahman is ahead. What does that mean? You do a poll where you describe one of the candidates really positively and give her context and suddenly boom. She goes from 9% to 33%. You tell me that she's at 9% just last week with the Emerson poll and suddenly boom. She more than triples in popularity. Well, you're positive. Why are you using positive descriptors? Guerrera says he believes bass is the front runner, taking previous polls into account. So the director of this poll said, well, I believe the other polls that says bass is ahead. But if you make Nithya Rahman sound really, really, really good, we can make her a first place candidate. I'm looking at this as like I've never seen anything like this before. Then Guerrera was asked, why didn't you include an undecided option? Since more than half of

32:52Los Angeles is undecided, and he goes that he wanted to force respondents to give an answer. What even forced respondents to give an answer? What kind of a poll was that? You don't get an undecided box, even though more than half the city is undecided, and then you describe your favorite candidate in glowing terms to force people to vote for them. And then it's presented as a poll and what's worse, the news media covers it as a real poll. Boy, oh boy, we are way lost in the three-dimensional maze here. Oh my god, what I've never heard of such nonsense. He says he wanted to force respondents to give an answer similar to when they actually vote. No, it's not the same, because when people go vote, it's because they've reached a decision already after following the campaign. And if they're not following the campaign, they probably don't vote. In case you haven't noticed,

33:55turn out for a mayor election is usually really low. I think one year when Garcetti ran, it was like 15%. Most people don't follow it. Therefore, they don't vote. That's kind of a waste of time. So they do follow it. Maybe not well. Maybe they're stupid and they don't process things right. But nobody is forced to vote. That's a volunteer action. And then when he gets 50%, say they prefer a democratic socialist, most people don't know what that is. Because if they understood that, they would have run all these people off the city council by now. Because we got four of them. But they come generally from illegal alien districts. So activists, what they do is they do ballot harvesting. They get, you know, they put, they get illegal aliens to get on the voter rolls. They fill out fake ballots. They go to nursing homes. There aren't that many people in these districts that vote at all.

34:57So it's really easy to flip a district like this. And that's how you get democratic socialist in. I mean, the city is so corrupt. But you know, I just, this is just the most outrageous thing. I don't say this often, but thanks to the LA Times for debunking the poll. And those democratic pollsters who also debunked the poll because it wasn't a poll. It was a campaign stunt. Well, this comes from, I always tell you about the zombies that I see every day, and most of them are young women walking across the street to whole foods and back during lunch hour with their heads down, and they're scrolling looking at their stupid texts. Oh, so you're blaming that on this? Well, actually, yes. That's apparently true. Horizontal lines that develop across your neck with age, and worsen with incessant smartphone use. I came close to knocking her down, because she just jumped out in front of me. And I honked the horn, and I yelled at her, I go, get off your phone. And she looked at me all wide-eyed. But yeah, get off the phone. I almost flattened you. I'm glad that you told her that. I, it's, of course, you should probably think as I'm just some colossal jerk.

44:18Oh, man. Yeah, I call that's right. Just this jerk old guy complaining about phones. But no, a proctor in gamble has a, has a brand of, well, they got, they got all kinds of creams now.
