Conductor Accidentally Knocks Violin Out of Soloist's Hands

Violin right out of soloist Alina Véhalé's hands while leading Max Bruce Violin Concerto 1. The rare instrument, crafted by one of history's top violin makers, flips three times in the air before hitting the floor, but Véhalé cushions the fall with her foot. She screams in shock, then picks it up as the orchestra pauses for a tense two-minute break before she jumps right back in and finishes the piece. Flawlessly. Véhalé, a 50-year-old violinist born in the U.S. and raised in Finland, called it a scary interruption but praised her violin's glue for giving way.
