Colorado QB Dominiq Ponder Dies in Crash

The 23-year-old lost control of his Tesla on a curve, hit a guard rail, then struck a power pole before rolling down an embankment and catching fire. He was pronounced dead at the scene, with police suspecting speed as a factor. Ponder had joined the Buffaloes this year after starting his college career at Bethune Cookman in Florida. The six-foot-five sophomore appeared in two games last season for Colorado. The news hit the team hard just before spring practice was set to start on Monday. Athletic director Fernando Lovoy called Ponder a standout for his passion, leadership, and toughness that teammates and coaches admired.
