So if you've ever furnished a restaurant, hotel, or an office, you know the drill. Five vendors, five invoices, five delivery windows. But there's a better way to do this. Creighton Barrel Contract is a business to business program that covers three brands. Creighton Barrel, CB2, and Creighton Kids with one account, one order, one delivery. They've got durable plates and glasses, contract grade furniture, and lighting that looks custom that's built for the wear of busy space actually takes. It's okay. Old habits die hard, but welcome everyone to Coffee and Play. Let's restart. Let's restart. It's okay. It's not. He will have plenty more episodes where we could play the Creighton throw. You like a Florida state fan looking for the 90s with that shirt on. It's for my son, at MAG, not Florida state, although Matt would probably say otherwise. But I've joined every morning by Bobby, Bert and Jerry Hamilton. And today we got Jeff Howl joining us as well. But tell us where you're checking in from. What you're drinking, get those questions in. We're gonna get to those in a little bit. We are also two, two days away from the season opener. Ellis is gonna be hot. We talked about it earlier in the week, but 230. If you can't make a game, we'll be on ESPN. And of course, there's the watch with us right here on on Texas football as well. But I wanna actually talk about something happening tonight, Jerry.

Something that you've been instrumental in setting up. And that's another watch party. Yeah, if you miss Landon Williams, Calis, season opener last Friday night against Dallas, South of Clif. That went for 33 carries and 220 yards. Couple of touchdowns completed to pass, caught a pass. You can watch Landon Williams, Calis here on Texas football tonight versus Spring Westfield. Really good 618 as 4 5 D1 commits, three guys on defense. You can watch Landon Williams, Calis with us. Myself, I'll be in the chat. I think Jordan Struggs, some others may be in the chat. But Landon Williams, Calis once again live here on on Texas football. Tonight, game time 630. We're gonna have Longhorn live stream. 6, maybe a couple minutes, 4 6 leading into the kickoff of this nice matchup in the city of Houston with Landon Williams, Calis. Tell your friends, tell your Texas friends, come join this live stream tonight in this simulcast and watch Landon Williams, Calis.

See if he goes for 200 again. This is second week in a row. I think they're gonna have to put the ball to the stomach quite a bit the win-a-game. They probably don't wanna do it 34 times like last week. Last week was a must-win game for rivalry purposes. But Landon Williams, Calis, Simulcast, Richard Mandel, a Westfield Simulcast here on on Texas football tonight. Come join in the live chat with us and we will talk all about that. Take questions on the game Saturday, recruiting, whatever you got. We'll turn it into kind of like an ontexasfootball.com chat while we watch Landon Williams, Calis. Yeah, that's good stuff. Rush for the record. Should I beat the all-time high? Make over 8,000 Peru rushing yards tonight. That's crazy. As a shock. That's like 790 more than Blake. Just a hair more. Not that impressive. It's only 1,000 yards better than me.

I get it. Is that like the stat Bobby that feel like a major league baseball father-son strike out of combinations? The record is Roger Clemens and Cody Clemens because it's whatever rocket has and with Cody's one. And now the family has 24 career home runs, right? Yeah, apparently. I think. I think. I think. I think. Yeah. Yeah. Well guys, later today, Sark. Later this morning, I guess I should say. Sark meets with the media at 11 o'clock. Anything in particular we're hoping to hear, hoping to learn, whatever it may be. I think he starts at around 10 30. We'll have something immediately following that. This morning, they've got practice this morning again. Second to last practice before they hit the field at DKR. I think I want to mention as part of that, that conversation we'll have with Sark. There's some reporting yesterday that Trevor Goopy might be able to go and could go if necessary. I'm just not sure that the long horns are going to go that direction.

This early in the process with Trevor Goopy, we will see. We'll also be listening to see if Steve Sarkieshan has anything to say about the health of Lawrence Seymour, the offensive guard, any updated last minute conversations or issues with the long horns heading into the game against Texas State. We'll a full slate of SEC games on the horizon, guys. Though we can take a look at those starting tomorrow night. Actually, we got a little football action tonight with Colorado and Georgia Tech playing. But tomorrow, the SEC really gets fired up. Oklahoma, of course, is using UTEP at 7 o'clock on the SEC network. And then, of course, Saturday, a whole slew games followed by Ole Miss playing on Sunday. So a full weekend, not only SEC football, but college football. Two tight games, or three tight games here expected. Auburn Baylor, that game, I believe, isn't it Lanna, right, Jerry?

Yeah, I know it Auburn, because it was at Baylor. It's Atlanta. It's Atlanta. They did the NIL deal to be in Atlanta. So Baylor, Auburn favored by 7. The other two are Clemson at LSU. Kind of strange to see LSU favored by double digits. I think Clemson going with a quarterback named Christopher Vazini is going to be the new guy that takes over for Kade Clubnik after he started four years for the Tigers. And then Louisville Ole Miss is actually a Sunday night game. Since it's a Labor Day weekend, they'll do a couple of that. And pro football has not officially started yet. Ole Miss favored by 7 over Louisville. That may be the one game that we actually learn a little bit more than maybe you thought you would heading into it. Ole Miss only favored by 7. Tells me, Jerry, that 1.

Louisville is going to be pretty good, but also, are they going to keep this train running that they've been hitting on offense? Because Ole Miss, I mean, look, they've been okay on defense. They were an offensive jug or not last year. They have the same quarterback and running back back a lot of the offense. Line is back, but the coaching staff's gone. So is that train still going to run on time and run at the velocity that it was under Lane Kiffin and Charlie Weiss Jr.? That to me, I know it doesn't happen until Sunday. That to me is the most intriguing game in the SEC this weekend. Yeah, I can't figure out whether or not Ole Miss is a contender or pretender this year, I think, almost immediately. Well, I, we've talked about this most of the offseason. The first two weekends in the SEC, whoever loses these games,

these two games, if, if LSU loses the clips that are Ole Miss loses the Louisville, they will not make the playoff look at the rest of their schedule. Texas and Oklahoma next weekend, Michigan, Ohio State. If anybody loses that game, then they start to feel a back against the wall after two games to make a college football playoff. So there's some huge early games in the SEC that I think are really going to impact as we get in in November, the potential playoff teams for the SEC. But Clemson at LSU, Dabo and his best Rodney Dangerfield, I'm not getting any respect, I don't get any respect at all. That's where Dabo feels like his program is at right now. I would tell Dabo you did it to yourself, but I'm very intrigued by Ole Miss Louisville, because they got Kleinholds who lost the job to say in it, Ohio State is their quarterback. He has a real element of off-schedule plays and athleticism. Ole Miss, he's golding set at SEC Media Days, we're going to be better on defensive.

You're going to be tested right out of the gate because you're going to get the quarterback with mobility and you're going to get one of the fastest running backs with pads on. And we know his name from last year's portal potential going in in the country. And Jeff Brahm is a very well-respected coach who is one nine each of the last two years. Huge game, huge game for Ole Miss, but I'll say this, it's a huge game for Louisville, because if you look at their schedule, if Louisville wins this game, they don't have Miami in the regular season. If you look at their path, they don't play Notre Dame. Man, what a path to the college football playoff out of the ACC if Louisville wins this game. They got a chance. That's a big game right out of the gate. Give me the jab. I want to see how much of Alabama East Carolina I can watch. That's similar, a little bit similar to Texas State. I mean, that's not a team that you can just roll out of the rack and play a D-plus game and win it by five touchdowns.

They can push you a little bit, but I want to see Cheel and Russell game one, what that looks like in Kaling to Bowers offense. Bama's one of those teams, guys, I don't know that we probably talked about them as much as maybe we usually do in terms of being an SEC contender. So I just want to see what that whole operation looks like game one. Yeah, and I would say, is anybody watching Firm in Tennessee just to see what the balls look like? Probably not me, because Texas and Texas State will be on the watch with us at that time. Remember, I've watched with a Saturday, but will anybody record Firm in Tennessee so you can get an early look at Tennessee? They play Georgia Tech next week. I think that's when those people attuned in the sea. Tennessee under Jim Knowles minus three defensive starters lost for the year, but Clemson LSU, what are your picks, chat? Clemson LSU, Louisville Ole Miss, who are you picking to win those games? Firm in Tennessee, Jerry, that 46 and a half is a mighty, mighty large number.

Big number. It's a big number. Georgia's, I mean, is Georgia Tennessee State's not a good football team? Is Georgia going to score enough points? To win by... I see where the A, the Missouri State guy said they're going to win at Texas A&M. Yeah. Yeah, they're 40 and a half point underdog. But they're going to win. They're going to win. They're going to win. Oh my goodness. Oh my goodness. Hi. We got more to talk about this morning, but first, Bobby, I'm going to let you tell everyone about Vaughn Lane. You know what? I gotta say Blake. Well, you got Jeff is up on the secretary of muting himself Blake. Yeah, secretary. It's going to have to come from behind this morning. I've been doing pretty. They've been doing pretty good here lately. Like for sure. Blake gave me too many buttons here to work. I get confused. Yeah, Jeff does and his the fancy does the new view that he sees. Now when he's doing shows with this. So maybe I threw a little too much at him at once. We'll blame it on that. That's all we'll do. I wanted to ask this question to set up our next segment. We saw the spreads obviously on those games. You all think Texas covers the 30 and a half this from Bobby Brown 512. Well, I guess we're going to do our score predictions.

May as well. Let's do it. Yeah, is that is that the segment you're looking for? Yeah, I'm is that is that the segment you're leading into? No, that's not the segment. I'm leaving. Okay. What? I'm not I'm a maybe on that. At this point. I'll I am definitely in that range. I will if I if I say over or under whatever. You'll know my what my actual pick is, but I'm in that range. I think that's drastically over or under Jeff or Jerry. I'm slightly under but we're talking last set, you know, last drive touchdown for a Texas state or shark shuttin it down so much of these lines like this come down to what the coach wants to do. Lating these games in the fourth quarter of these games, Jeff, I mean. I think Texas can I think Sarc can cover that number. I'm not sure he will cover that number.

I think this is more of a case of the dreaded and feared backdoor cover coming out because I don't think you know. DJ Kenny's been pretty clear even going back to the summer. You know, they don't really know what will much champs going to do. You know, they can watch Georgia film or old South Carolina film and have an idea, but they don't really know if they're going to have their base stuff that they're going to want to run and I've got a feeling even if Texas does start putting back up in the game. I just keep Brad Jackson in there and run their offense. So that's something I don't know that that's how I think he's going to play it. But he made decide, hey, at some point, it's just, let's just run the ball and just try to get out of here as healthy as possible. So I lean slightly. Yes, but I that back the backdoor covers should definitely be in play here. Yeah. So the reason I ask is, you know, obviously that's a team spread, but I wanted to look at player projections. So price picks has put them out for this game.

Obviously archbanging has the majority of these and we don't have to go through all of them. But what we have 11 players here, anything you want to touch on any surprises here on any of these numbers. I got I got two mores right now, Derek Cooper and Hollywood's mother's touchdowns. I like it. On both rushing and receiving for Hollywood. No, just rushing on both. So I got both those guys storing a rushing touch. I think Sarge's going to want to when he gets in the red zone and not these not going to throw a pile on ball to Cam Coleman or Emmett Mosley, but I think he's going to want to. Somebody to carry the ball over the end zone in this game. I think he's going to want to push physicality in this game. So look, we were talking about more or less receiving yards for Cam Coleman. Just a couple days ago, Jerry, you and I were 840, I think was the number.

Yeah. What's 12 times 60? 735. I mean, what? So, and this is against one of the teams that theoretically should be one of the. I'm not saying it easy defense, but certainly less talented than some others. Right? I mean, I all to say this. I think I think Cam Coleman's due for a big game. If anybody's asking me for a surprise pick on offense out of this, I'm going to go with Derek Cooper right now. I know everybody is talking about Hollywood. Some others and really Brown and I think that really Brown and some others are going to have good games. I think that Derek Cooper might announce his presence on Saturday. Just keep that in mind. Jeff, Jeff, there's Ryan Wingo cover all the see go more on all three on the first drive. I'll tell you this. The first one that jumped out to me was longest reception 22 and a half yards that I'm hammering that.

Yeah, every day like he could get that on the first snap. Yeah. He could go more he could go more on the first snap of all three of these Jeff. Yeah, he honestly could be the other one that jumped out to me. I feel a lot better about this team, and especially it's given given what we heard and the few clips we saw coming out of the two scrimmages. I feel a lot better if archmaning is less than half an interception. Like pretend if you we can talk about point spreads and all that stuff. If you want to keep it in fear, you're pwned in the game longer than they should turn start turning the football over. Oh, yeah. Yeah. I'll tell you the one that is imperative for me in this game. To be a more I would love to see it be more spedic hits a couple of field goals. I've said this before. I've said this before he kicked it Ohio you in Memphis.

If he does it if I'm sark I absolutely kill a drive in this game to make sure he gets a feel of it. You imagine you are so bad. I can't drive on purpose just to get the. Can you imagine if it played out that his first kick at Texas was a 48 yarder to beat Ohio. Can you imagine the pressure he would feel of his first career big kick in his life was 48 yarder. Against Ohio State to win the game. I'm killing a drive and making sure that guy kicks a feel of my god. I'm killing a drive. Yeah. I look I'll be many things but I'd be very surprised that that's on sark's radar to kill a drive on purpose. I'm not going to be going for the jug. If I'm up if I'm up red something they need to be going for the jug. If I'm up 42 and I'm running it up the middle a couple of times and sintering it and letting the guy gets make a feel goal in this game.

I promise you I do it as a coach. All right. The other thing I want guys in this game are arch I want less than 30 and a half rushing yards. I don't I want to minimize as much as possible. The number of times archman is exposed to getting hit. So very few of any quarterback like design runs. If he's got a scramble that's fine. Just keep it to a minimum. The growth of these when you've got so many new pieces in the past game and this is where I take solace and wingo and mostly coming back. Those guys that's the year went on last year were so good and scramble drill situations. But that's something that comes with time it comes with snaps so you know how adept are Hollywood smothers of relief brown or. I'm a soonest at when arch scrambles. Hey I need to go find work. I need to go find open space to get open for my quarterback so he can throw me the ball. Let one of the running backs one of the tight ends go one on one with a safety rather than have it be archmaning in the open field.

I'm going to minimize as much risk as you can to arch while still you've got you got to let him play like that's part of it so it's a balance but I want arch arch is arch is body exposed to hits as little as possible. 100% I'm going to say this as it relates to that I think that archmaning plays better when he gets popped on the chin. I don't realize he's not in a simulation he's actually in a real game. I I really believe he's one of those guys that doesn't mean he needs to beat that 30 yards to Jeff's point I'm not saying we need it needs to be running and I just I think that he's a guy that gets popped on the chin and then all of a sudden you see a different archmaning. There it's just that's that and so if that takes a run or two Jeff that that's that's where I'm at there's a difference between that arch isn't.

Ars doesn't need to go Sam Ellinger and like find a safety to lower your shoulder into like there's new answers there's there's there's levels to this I agree with you but I think at the same time. You know and Jerry I think we're talking about some highs but also I don't want to spoil anything we've got plan is for segments in the show go but you know I think one of the differences one of the separation between a guy like archmaning and C. J. Car I think when you want C. J. Car the mechanics are cleaner it looks more like it looks a little more polished i'm coming around the idea that arch is more kind of that Josh Allen mode where it looks maybe a little unorthodox it's more about raw athleticism and instincts and the big arm that it is about being clean but at the same time. If this offense is going to take off arch has to learn to play with the next structure got to get better at playing keeping the offense on schedule the way Sark wants it you got you got to have the other stuff to because that is part of his game i'm not disagree with that at all. But you got to be able to keep this on schedule you got to be able to play within the system you got to be able to hit those layups Sark causing you got to be better in the RPO game so there's there's levels to this but I think that's part of it to can arch be can how much better is arch now then he was last year playing with the structure.

I'm ready let's see I mean look two days away from seeing what what we know and what we find out and if i'm if i'm a Texas fan right now frankly there's been so much talk this off season because Texas ended the season I think prematurely right I only winning going nine and three when they were playing their best ball at the end of the year. And so I think you know that certainly played a role into it also how well Texas did in the portal plays a role into the anticipation for this and now we've sat here and had to wait for you know eight months essentially and we get a taste of it in two days i'm ready for it. Thank you. Yeah. We got a super chat here from Blake Blake Janz I think you Blake what are the odds of the Texas state defensive back gets moths by King Coleman.

Pretty high. I mean I'm not trying to be rude to any Texas state DB okay when you know everybody saw the one handy catch okay that was tremendous catch no questions asked but. I am told that he makes those catches on the regular not necessarily that style. But it's not a random one time thing he didn't just make a great catch right then he makes these regularly. He's been doing it since he was 12 yeah exactly exactly so that's the lead trade. And that's my point is like don't be I won't be surprised if he makes at least one. That's just who he is it's not a it's not a wow did you all really just catch capture that that pass in that setting from a video videographer standpoint no he does things like that daily in practice now not exactly that is fantastic.

He's a competitive as Rod Rod's chronicled it and CJ has to with stats to back it up I mean 75 80% contested catch rate. That's an amazing amazing amazing number. Yeah Jerry there's a look I don't want to compare cam Coleman to this guy I'm going to mention straight up because of all the great wide receivers I've ever seen play high school football in this state. Desperate is still number one for me is you talk about raw talent. But we talk about separation like how do you there's more than one way to create separation some guys do it you know you can do it like Xavier worthy you just run by people. But that's where cam Coleman kind of reminds me Desperate you create separation because your catch radius is so insane. Yeah. And that 50 50 ball for a normal receiver that's more like an 85 15 ball for a guy like when you're that you lead at it. Well and I will add another piece to it 100% agree but here's the other piece go back to what Aaron Ross said. Here on coffee and football I play off big receivers well you because cam Coleman is fast but he's not for three fast so you can play off him.

And he's going to be in a lot of contested catch scenarios or situations. And so I think that is the way you play him the way the DB's are going to play him they're not going to get up and press him that much so well Aaron Ross said you play off the big receivers and then you position yourself to make a play on the football. And you say alright guy if you're a big wide receiver with a huge catch radius and in a 35 inch vertical just go run stop routes we're fine with that we'll play off you and let you have that. But because he's not that for that elite elite vertical speed guy he's going to be in a lot of those contested catch situations in the SEC he's going to get plenty of opportunities. No now they play off. We got more to talk about this morning but first Bobby can you do us all a favor and tell us about shields yeah absolutely it started last weekend shields opened up over in Cedar Park and man when I tell you.

That place was hopping it was hopping all new store built for Texas anglers hunters campers weekend warriors golf tennis you name the sport they've got it covered gear up with trusted brands from boots and backpacks the rifles rods and reels plus clothing and footwear for the entire family. Blake dropped drops of pretty plenty every time he goes into shields explore one of the largest outdoor selections around all and one impressive store over 300,000 square foot in Cedar Park in Austin area it is shields your next adventure starts at shields. And I'm going to tell everyone this morning about pride picks because we're always looking for ways to make watching games a little more fun that's exactly why we love price picks it's America's number one sports pick up and honestly it's about as simple as it gets for player picks all you do is choose more or less on a few player statue lock in your lineup you're ready to go.

But if you're someone who likes picking teams instead of individual players well they got you covered there as well you can now pick the winner you can pick the spread or the total on games and even fights and price picks is available in most states including California Florida and right here in the loom star state so chances are you can jump in today. But one of my favorite features is that you can follow users on the app very easily if you like the picks they're making you tell them with one click it also makes it super easy to stay with your friends as well and see what they're doing but the best part is if you've never tried price picks before right now if you play your first $5 line up and you win you're going to get $150 in bonus line ups just make sure to use code hm a when you sign. They actually just updated this offer so there's never been a better time to get started and if you want to get started with what we got tonight we're all over the college football action we're going to be paying attention to the Georgia tech Colorado game we got Colorado tight and Zach Akens to have more than one and a half receptions along with Georgia tech running back just this hangs to have more than 82 and a half rushing yards tonight so download that price picks out today use code hm a when you sign up play that first $5 line up.

And if you win you're going to get $150 in bonus line ups that's price picks code hm a good luck to you and there's always play smart play responsibly the price picks. Alright guys we'll just paint you know three three different schools that from eight start off it Alabama got you know signed at the times in college football. Well we just need to rest for a little over 80 tonight that's the play in the SEC the big 10 and now in the ACC. I love it I love that Bob Bob is trying to make a point Blake's like not just eat him over 80. He go everything. He's the rest right to have your all taking them I'm taking them over versus Colorado. Yeah. Jerry that is about as safe a safe a pick as you can make all weekend taking anybody to do anything against the Colorado defense feels like I'm feeling good about that unless he turns his ankle on carry to. No we probably just jinxed him now so he's going to have to get a break not the good 80 pro.

Why would you say something like that on on our picks that's terrible Jerry because he's not a tech display. The jinx is only I mean look. The question is is he going to transfer and get all power for conferences and I know he's got a tech is next year Texas. Bobby that's a great call call your buddy Cody Campbell and tell me needs to go after Haynes. I were earlier mentioned the high has been odd. High has been odds and Jerry this morning you're talking about an ESPN article that you know was looking at the high has been odd so I pulled the latest ones here. Now archmaning slightly behind CJ card one point this season they were tied for having the best odds but now many clear number two followed by Dante more than menza at Miami saying Ohio state. Trinidad Chambers at Ole Miss Jeremiah Smith the White receiver from Ohio State and Josh Hoover quarterback Indiana rounds out our top eight.

But right now guys these are the front runners your thoughts. Can I say this about Shameless guys I just want to throw this out there can Shameless be in 2026 what Jayden Daniels was in 2023 where they don't make the playoff. But the numbers are just just stupid that he ends up being the guy. Jeff I mean you know it's not a bad take. Then Jayden Daniels loses OC before that season to or was it after that season chat after that season and Brock went to Notre Dame after that season. But I mean I think the biggest thing with Shameless is no lane kiff and no Charlie watch junior I think that's the biggest thing I'm watching with Trinidad Chambers and Ole Miss offense. I got to tell you I think Darian menza is in a went to a situation that's pretty good for a quarterback guys I I would almost have him my favorite and he's been going into this year. Imagine being a quarterback and doing what you did it Duke and you walk over to Miami would not walk you wrote on a bed of money to Miami and and you brought your best wider seeker with you from Duke and you have Malachi Tony and when things get a little tough you have a power run game and Mark Fletcher and all the talent Miami around you in the ACC.

Darian menza may be positioned better than anybody else on this list honestly then he's got a game at Notre Dame he goes up there and beats Notre Dame in Miami. He's going to put up numbers look at what he did it Duke not though him and throw him in the coral gables with all talent there Darian menza is pretty well situated guys was the schedule to and I'm not sure the schedule is defining in Heisman because Marcus or Mendoza didn't have a great regular season schedule. Last year his Heisman moment actually came against Penn State who is a wound is wobbly team. So let's stop the conjecture let's make the pick. Who's your pre see who is your I have menza preseason I think he's a preseason okay Jeff who you got the C J car. It's he's a note he's a Notre Dame quarterback there's that still it probably shouldn't mean as much as it will but I think to a lot of people that have a vote for the Heisman it still means something. I just heard B no cook say he's going to win it twice that's not from from beyond break I need to take a break like when you have one.

I like C J car because of the schedule. Got it. I'm going to arch. I think it's time Texas has the year I think they're going to have I think it's going to have to be arched here. Here's where I push back Bobby it has it has nothing to do with arch. It's nothing against arch I just feel like for the people voting for this thing and again trying to get into the mind of Heisman voters there's a group of people that shouldn't have as many votes to do that's people in the baseball reddit association and I've hauled the fame votes right below them as guys with Heisman ballots there's just a lot of people that have them that shouldn't. I feel like if arch has that one game like think about Vince Young in 2005 right the A&M game where he just he wasn't good and it was it was almost struggle bust a little bit and it was kind of clunky all day. I feel like if arch has one of those even if Texas wins the game I think a lot of people will not import.

So I think in the minds of voters Bobby I'm just thinking they view arch is he's got to be damn near perfect to get their first place vote. Correct. I agree with that. Yeah I agree with much which said I will say this to I think I'm the only one here that went Texas 12 and 0. And so I'm calculating that into it. I mean at that point if Texas goes 12 and 0 against this schedule in the regular season. I think that's a different category. I agree I agree with that that puts him in a different element. I do think that the negative about playing in the SEC and playing nine conference games as well as playing you T. Texas Ohio State excuse me in game two you're playing 10 power four games. You don't have a chance to really have these crazy stat games.

Whereas CJ Carr is going to play navies at some point. He might just pick his his numbers right as far as what he's got it you're going to get. He arch is not going to get that opportunity. Even Darian Mintsa to Jerry's point is going to get some of those opportunities. At some point they're playing wake forest probably or I don't know Virginia Tech or a team that's just not quite as good right talent wise. Yeah. Jerry I think that arch has to overcome in my opinion or anybody in the SEC. Trinidad Chambles would have been my second pick by the way. Guys, am I stuck like this as a child of the 80s and 90s and I think that Notre Dame being a Notre Dame quarterback means something to voters again. It probably shouldn't but I just I think at the end of the day if CJ to Blake's point the schedule favor CJ Carr more than any of these other quarterbacks. If CJ Carr quarterbacks Notre Dame to an undefeated season. Arch would almost have to lead Texas to not just 12.

No, I'm talking about like 13 or an SEC championship. I don't I don't disagree with that but I there's also like ability. I mean look I the Heisman voters are the Heisman would like nothing more than to have arch in New York City. They would like nothing more to have CJ Carr Mintsa and Arches their three finalists from Notre Dame Miami in Texas. Let's be real. They would love that for the Heisman trophy. But to your point Jeff there's something to that. I hear someone thing I'll say I don't think CJ Carr is going to put up monster numbers. Look at the way they play off it's a football. Mintsa is the guy that could put up the big numbers. This year. I know that a name is going to they're going to run that ball they're going to they're going to build those running backs throughout this. Time out though they've got the same offense coordinator that Jayden Daniels had Mike Denbrock they will. They'll they'll use the wide receiver game. No they will but I'm not sure he's going to be he's not going to be putting up the numbers.

Some other guys are throwing the football. I don't think he's really good really really good. I'm not sure he's going to put up those numbers if numbers matter. But the Jeff point he's very he's going to be he's a likable guy. If he if Notre Dame's 12 and O he's gotten. I mean there that's where you're at. I think the Bobby's point though when you look at Shamless and harsh. If they've got the numbers it'll be because they had to do that because you're in tight games and you just got to put the ball in your best players. Hand and let him go. Right. It's not going to be empty calorie stats for those guys. Man don't get ready. I got a doctor's appointment don't talk about empty calories. I said say ball. I'm going to get I'm going to get that talking to today at about 930. I mean you know Mr. Burton. I know. I'll do I'll do a last one. Talk to me about empty calories. I'm I'm a I've got a little. I'll do a lap around the block in your honor when this shows done Bobby. Thank you.

What's up everybody Jeff, what's up man, good to see us. I saw you Monday and passing at that presser but glad to see you on this Thursday. Thursday. Greg is great. Greg is on the doctor. Yeah. Lobby's off to the doctor. Yeah. Hey, Will, uh, hey, before we get started, um, since, uh, I love keeping the full-back position alive. Yeah. We're gonna make it great to get at some point. It's all cyclical. Uh, since you're on shot at the Andrew Beck for making the Jets 53 still lost. Still cash and checks just because he can, uh, you know, he gets the occasional kicker turn. They throw a bonus way, but I like Will that a guy's still on a 53 just because he knows how to set the edge in the run game. Yeah. I mean, that's a special thing. I feel like it's a special thing. Like, uh, and I feel like the artist being lost. There is an intensity that comes with being full-back and full-back-esque, age-back that doesn't exist in the game in the way that it should. There isn't. I mean, you know, I, I want people to be safe, but I really like hits and, uh, I just, I'm, I think I might just start a company and call it ISO, not for not sell anything.

Just just so I can say the word ISO. Love it. Very. So called ISO. Where you just make that full-backed plays in college football. There you go. There you go. I think it's going to be much of a military. A lot of old school highlights from back in the day. Yeah. Hey, Will, what's the one thing you're looking for Saturday other than out for your out other looking out for yourself with 140 degrees on the field? Yeah. Um, I really want to see the guys come out and take care of business. And what that means is a level of professionalism. I was talking, uh, I was talking to running back coach, uh, coach Jalook and, and we were just talking about how these guys come to work in a different way. Um, and it seems as if even the young guys have set their focus to do what's most important on the field and, I mean, you know, just look at their Cooper and some of these guys, Kosi and who are going to be substantial.

Uh, given substantial time this season. And you don't get that kind of time and you don't get that kind of trust from the team unless you're like really, really come to play. Uh, in my time, there were a couple of guys who came to play and, you know, they called their name a bunch on Sunday. Guys like Roy Williams and Kalin Thornton and who came out right out of the gate. Nate Bash, too, uh, came out and did their thing. It's just a different kind of focus. And that's what I want to see. And that'll go to the guys not how to drop in the ball and pregame and like being ready to play and being excited about the work that they're going to do. And it doesn't matter the opponent. It just matters that the job gets done. So super excited for those guys. And well, I want to follow up. We had a discussion, Rod, uh, Bobby Jeff and I on a state of the program yesterday. And I brought up emotional football maturity. Refreshment. That's one thing I'm really kind of like I went down the C. Derrick Cooper a couple of times. I was at his commitment ceremony, but more importantly, when I went to see him at his high school, I sensed a lot of set up back.

A lot of set up backster emotional football maturity in him. Talk about the importance of that now with the portal because you're playing against older guys. You're coming into college football against older guys more so now than ever. Do you think how important do you think that is for freshmen in this day and age? Oh, it's huge. I think it's really important to have a good time. If so, there's only those blue blood organizations like a Texas Georgia. And you know, it's kind of like the NFL. Like when you're drafted, they expect you to play immediately. The tide has turned in how we do that. Like there's less development. Coach Sark and those guys are picking guys who mostly can get to play. They're walking right into there and fighting for the second and third job. And I love focus and even even as you're looking over the game, like I was talking to my wife the other day and nobody understands the amount of things I gave up to get to where I wanted to go.

And I have fun. Don't get me wrong. And we enjoyed that experience. But the players at this level have got to say no to a lot of things. And that does mean like holidays. That does mean trips. And that does mean internships in the off season. Because what you have to do, you have to give your whole life to it. And the younger somebody can start to understand that is the more they can. Give that kind of focus. And when you see those guys, those are the guys who, you know, in the hard count, they jump off sides. It just is what it is. And when. And so, and a good player does what they're told. They know exactly what to do in most situations, but the great players do the right thing even when they don't know what they're doing. That's that. And that is not only is that preparation, but that that's a mental, that's a mental mindset. And that's something that has got to be developed young. I would bet these guys were carrying that from a long time ago.

And will you, you mentioned the press conference on Monday. I loved your question at the end because we got one of the answers out of Sark that kind of been wanting them to get to. When we talk about the running game, we can talk about bringing in the soonest as an inline tight end and the changes they made on the offensive line. But I think at some point in Sark alluded to this, some point running backs have to understand, like, look, not every play is going to be blocked perfectly. And you got to go make the most out of what you can. I think that's one thing now with it. I'm looking forward to seeing the most on Saturday when it's not clean when it's when it's a little bit muddy. Can these guys on on third and two can they get you four? If it's only blocked to get you one, can they get you two or three? Can you have a group of backs that can maximize runs and get the most out of every touch they get? Yeah, and that's so important. One of the things that lagged in Texas Stass over the last couple of years is that yards per carry. In certain games, my guy, Wisner, he did really well.

He was the dragon slayer as we would call it. But if you look consistently, you have got to be able to fall forward. And I'm not saying that our backs were able to do that. And that's a heart. That's a heart and focus position. I remember there were sometimes with us when I'm locking for said and there were four guys over there. And somehow he still got a positive yard out of that. And that's what you want. You want to be able to do that. And if you got a name like Hollywood, I want to see you make somebody miss. Come on. Like, that's the thing. And that's what and that's what I feel like coach Sark went out to the portal to get. He showed up his future in Cooper. But today is today and we have got to be ready today. And those two backs, one a one B have got to make somebody miss. They've got to get to the line of scrimmage in a very aggressive way. And they have got to put that shoulder down. And I love you can go sideways and make all the shakes and all that.

But you have got to put your helmet in somebody's chest. And so I don't know is that is that the short yardage kind of statement play. Who's going to come in and be that back? We've got a we've got a lot of guys who can catch the ball out of the backfield and making missing space. And but will we leak or Hollywood? Will they beat that guy as well? And I think that's really what we want to see or do they bring a big guy out like a like a Michael Terry. And give him the rock in the short yardage to get it done or or dead Cooper who knows who it is. But we have got to have that statement guy. And I and I remember like third and two. I had no doubt whoever was getting the ball. We were getting a first down. Yeah. Yeah. Hey, will how long you're you're on the sidelines? How long into the game will you hear? That's the first step. Oh, I'll draw your series. I hope immediately. Yeah. Before the game. Before the game. I'm hoping as we're walking out of the out of the tunnel there, we're hearing it.

I want to hear coach boom because boom. And that's what we've been wanting. We were with Jerry was there last night. We had a little event and had third and long corner out. It was just really cool to hear Alex Okafor talk about coach boom coach. Must champion and what it meant to him and even Jeremy Hills was saying there with this guy. There's a certain level of uncomfortability that the whole team has not just the defense. They know that any second that coach could come up to them and be like, hey. What's the deal with that? What's going on? He's calling you to a higher standard. And I don't want to wait until half time until I hear that voice cut through the air. I want that early and often. And I tell young guys too, if your coach is a gallon that you then. You might need to find a new sport. Because they're not enjoying the team or coaching. Exactly. If your coach is a gallon, he's not carrying. And so take that feedback and get out there and do your thing.

Rumble young man. Hey, we'll real quick. I know you talk about catching up with coach Jaluit Blake and I actually caught his lecture this year at the THSCA convention. And we, you know, you can get a little caught up in the moment of those things. But Blake and I both looked at each other and I'm thinking like I would play for this guy. Like there's just something about the tone he sets where there's certain things that are not negotiables. It's a physical kind of blue collar tone. I like the fact that in the year where you've got so much change in terms of personnel and running back that you've got a guy where if you want to be kind of a nasty physical running back room. That attitude starts from the top and it reverberates now. Yeah. And you know, it was. I'm really impressed by him. Of course, his passion and focus to the game. I mean, and he is coach some really great running backs. I mean, and look what Jay Vada did to us and. The last year. And, but I think what's interesting about him is he's also a community builder.

He really, really cares about not just the running back room, but the running backs and their relation to the whole team. He cares about all the guys. He makes deep relationships and, you know, he's one of those guys is like, well. We got to lean on you guys and, and you know, let. Let me know what's going on. He's open, you know, even for. For us guys to have some input and what's going on in that. And that's really important. I'm really rooting for him. And I tell you what. A good, a good running back coach can really get a lot out of those guys because the difference between you being 4.6 yards for carry and 5.2. And that's mostly all mental. And he can bring that intensity and steal that into the room. That will permeate all through there. Because if you got a running back that hits you in the chest, but also break your ankles on the way to the touchdown. It's really hard to defend those guys.

And I think we got to stay before those. All right. Well, last thing we got for you. Thanks for joining us as always. How did you prepare your body for 140 to 150 degrees on the field Saturday for. And I'm going to have 4.5 hours essentially 5 counting warm ups. What you got? How many bottles of water electrolytes? What do you brand of marathon? You know to deal. Yeah, I mean, all of that. I mean, I got to I got to act like I'm going to play. Now I'm not hitting anybody. But I tell you last year. I was there with some of the ESPN guys and one of the guys he's holding the camera and he walks over to me. And the bottom of his shoe is flopping off. And I'm like, dude, what's the deal? He's like my my Jordan's melted on the field. Like that's what we're dealing with. And so Jerry a ton of electric lights and and no mayonnaise corn dogs for me on game on game day. You promised after an actual championship. You do that with me and Bobby. Yeah, yeah, for sure. That's fine. I'll bring the mayonnaise. Remember this chat. Remember this chat.

We got. We're here here. Stop will. Yeah, we're I'm happy to will be all in for that one. But yeah, I get ready for it. And it'll be cool. Well, it won't be cool, but it'll be a good time. All right. Thank you, Will. And we'll see you Saturday, man. Good to see you last night. Let's go. Thanks, Will. Well, you guys. Let's make the fullback position. Great again, guys. Bring it back. Yeah. You know, Blake, I tried to, you know, when I go to, you know, when I was on the road, covering recruiting, going to high schools, I just see the seven man sled sitting off the siling. Nobody uses it anymore. And I've talked to high school coach. Like, yeah, I don't really use them. But I realize make the seven man sled. Great again is a lost cause. I'm going to make the fullback position. Great again. My level. It's going to be my new that. And I'm going to petition the NCAA to let's no longer have sacks count against the quarterbacks rushing yardage or against the team. I agree. I agree. Yes. I agree with that.

If I ran for a political office, I'm just telling you those are the two things we're going to make sure the fullback position stays alive. And we're eliminating sack yardage from somebody's Russian coach. Yeah. Yeah. We've had a lot of people join since we first started. So I want to mention this again, Jerry. Big deal going on right here on on Texas football. Currency of OTF and Vibe. Yeah. Well, what's part of Jerry Hamilton? Yeah. Last week was our first ever cymo cast of a high school football game. Thanks to Vibe. We have land and Williams call us again this week is as we continue to work on this and try to bring you guys more. It may not be an every week thing, but we're trying to bring you guys more high school football options. Well, that's a Texas commit or really good team. As guys Texas is recruiting. Oh, I think I've got I think I've got another Texas commit coming here at the end of September on a game here. Simon cast but land and Williams call us Thursday night tonight Thursday night game against a very talented spring Westfield team four five D1 guys three on defense couple Arizona commits a Texas state D line committed Texas tech.

Come back tonight six 30 is game time will be cymo casting Richmond or handle and spring Westfield teaming up again with Vibe to do that tonight. So hope to see all you guys in the chat talking land and Williams call us as he may go he hasn't ever game like last week. He's going over eight thousand career rushing yards on that hunt for potentially 10,000 career yards if Randall plays has that type of season long enough into the post season but come join us tonight six 30 will have an abbreviated longhorn live stream prior to that. I'm checking with rod in the guys and then that Thursday night kick at six 30 for land and Williams call us Simon cast myself Jordan scrubs. I'm sure some other people will be in the chat will answer all your questions. Doesn't matter what the subject while we watch land and Williams call us spin cut jump cut skip cut run with physicality catchable all the back feel a little bit everything like you did last week.

We've been time. Hey Blake you've you've got kids you got you got kids in high school that are playing you know playing sports what do they do for cramp prevention is one of my middle school and high school coaches coach pal he's in the chat back in the day like they just had this thing I don't even know I think it was it was called phosphory I think it was for cramp prevention all these things like hey grab your handful of those and take them and you'll be fine. Out of magic in high school sports Blake it's a little more sophisticated now. I think it's about as sophisticated drinking a ton of pickle juice. That seems to be the go to very the bar sleep football team is keeping pickle juice ready to go and I know before the game is like usually all the at least you know half the team feels like sometimes I was up at our house and you know we have those electrolyte packets and they're all gone like I have him out every week. And so they load up on those before the game mixing with water but it's those two things was an old school salt tablets for you Jerry were you with the tail into that just taking salt tablets.

I didn't cramp I didn't play enough defense. I was a little bit. We played two three zone with a seven footer behind me so we weren't we weren't pressing up or you know it's pretty much slide. It's pretty much slide the guards had a really easy job when you had a seven footer behind you that started three years at Notre Dame so we played two three zone to protect him from foul triple. So I was a little bit cramped much unless I shop 15 to reason a game. Pack of mustard that's the other one I know are starting running back. Definitely does that quite a bit to because he keeps mustard pack little packets of all some mustard on the sideline and ripped those bad boys open during the game so that is another one. And also shout out to being in beef burritos if you're near on a high school football Friday and so that nothing better. I got a couple of super chats I want to read real quick.

Let's get to some super chats fellas Jeff Kerry thank you for yours as what teams are going to be the over performers and under performers this season. Hmm loaded question I you know again, this is why I want to see Keel and Russell I think Alabama Jerry could be an over performer based on where they are relative expectations. Schedules there yeah schedules there the Alabama George have a favorable schedule compared to a taxes in Oklahoma for me or if he doesn't play well it goes the other way. It's like freshman quarterback or wrench or freshman quarterback first time starter. Kind of fine line but I think talent divorce done a great job with quarterbacks over his career that's the one thing we do know what will is Xavier Cruel the stud freshman running back who is scheduled to be available Saturday after a preseason camp injury.

What can he add to this offense to help Keel and Russell because I have a feel Xavier Cruel is going to be really really really good really good like I thought he was a five star running back last year. Very talented over what are we anybody anybody looking at Virginia Tech as an over performer. I'll tell you this I'm I'm looking at Texas A&M as an under performer just because nothing they do until November matters to me. I mean until until that program that coach that quarterback does it in November I don't know it's all it's all just white noise for me. I look at I look at not necessarily because of James Frank although I think he's going to do very well in the in the ACC but I just look at Virginia Tech and I'm like Virginia Tech I think it was a smart hire to get James Franklin but how many times do you hire a coach and get I mean how many how many pin state transfers because of pin state

watching their coaching search until they actually got the right guy which they could have done really early on how many times does an ACC school get I mean what is the number 17 15 17 pin state transfers that was a really talented in state team Virginia Tech got healthy from a talent perspective instantly when James Franklin was hired because of the circumstance around the pin state coaching search. I just look at them and say man I mean Virginia Tech is going to be more talented than most ACC teams save Miami maybe Clemson maybe Clemson Virginia Tech's an interesting team to be a little over perform over performer just because the way that whole pin state coaching search situation played out Virginia Tech when they hired James Franklin wasn't thinking they were going to get that much talent infused into the program immediately out of place so they got a chance because of that in the ACC.

Next see it's under performer I kind of see that they've already lost three defensive starters for the season and they have a freshman quarterback true freshman quarterback not rich or true. That's a tough break defensively. Samir here thank you for the super chat says do you think this offense could be like LSU in 2019 with bro Jamar was that once a lifetime historic offensive season once I think that I think that was lifetime I mean I'm not so eventually somebody's going to do it I don't think it's I don't think this Texas team is I mean look this you find nine game SEC schedule now I mean that I know everybody's like well Texas could have beat them yeah. I mean obviously everybody's going to have close games but what that developed into I'm not sure. I don't see that now if you if you go watch that offense I would say if you didn't watch LSU but just against Texas there's two games to watch go watch LSU against Texas and then go watch them in the

next page bowl against Oklahoma that is not even close to the same team Texas played that September I mean they were you were as well oiled an offensive machine in college football as I have ever seen as good or better Jerry I know I say this no one full well you might reach to the screen and grab me as good or better than any offense Steve Spurrier ever put together like that was a machine. No it was great great offense I mean look it was it's an all time college football offense and that's why I look at that and say look that was that was in that was in Nick Sabin here too. I mean you know I know how good that offense was at or is around one national championship. We can just stop right there. Stop right there that's how good that offense was at or is around one national championship. I mean that's like Miami Larry Cooper stuff.

I'll tell it was that Miami team Larry Cooper one national championship. That's all we have to say. I love how that Miami team I love how notchic dab import put I heard him say he's like we there's either notchic dab imported DJ Williams said look we just we didn't need a coach we just it was like kids go to the music part we just needed a shaperone to let us in to make sure we could get on the rides like that was basically what Larry Cooper that. Next super chat this morning comes from rocky P he says I want start to call the same first play this weekend and he did to open last season and we just execute it just to show that this year is different talk about this the other day actually. I want to see him call the same play against Ohio State. I want that little that little waggle for arch like he had been like was his play early on in his career that didn't go well against Ohio State last year. I want to call the same play against Ohio State. I want to the screen the Ryan Wingo Saturday first play first play I want him to flip it out there easy completion lock it up.

Probably ends with a big play I want him to flip it out the Wingo your go to play last year at the end of the year I want that to be your go to play Saturday to start the season. Just as long as you don't have the the water see were screen pass element to it again this is long as you mix that and fire that in the sun I'm good. Yeah. Jay Lee with the super says good news we win Saturday bad news Roy flip Saturday. I mean I think I think he's going to play this out. I think he's going to I think we're going into November he's going to Texas the next weekend for the Ohio State game he's going to Florida the 26th for the Ole Miss game he'll be in Baton Rouge again make the short drive when Texas plays an LSU I think this is going to be a play out exactly how he's saying it's going to play out right now I'd be surprised I mean anything and happen in recruiting I'd be surprised if he's it LSU's game decommitted says Texas note not coming we're going to end it here that hasn't been how this

recruitment gone that what's the price but that was is going to be apparently an unbelievable environment that LSU Saturday for that closing game like I think they have record number of sideline passes for the famous people it's going to be a quite the event and it will get emotional for recruits they will create that type of environment Saturday to your point that they'll be their best recruiting pitch assuming they actually play well in win the game. And our final one for today fellas comes from singleton thank you singleton he says blow teams out every chance if we end with three losses and says we won't lose three college football playoff is by flawed humans with eyes and opinions leave no doubt Miami did it your thoughts. I just you know Jerry I just don't the schedule there's not there's you know Texas state and UTSA at least respectable G5 G6 teams so like I just there's not a game like Sam Houston last year where you can just run it up and basically pick your number.

That's good as this team is I just I have way too much respect for the programs that G.J. Kenny and Jeff trailer run to think you're just going to go in and we want to we want to put 60 on the board today and you're just going to go do it. Yeah I think I'm not sure Sark is going to do that even if he could I'm not sure he is. I just be a little surprised maybe if everything breaks your way pick six scooping scores right I'm not sure Sark is going to go Steve Spurrier triple reverse up 45 points the punch one in that's just doesn't seem like the Sark we've seen to this point but look to that super test point just my whole deals just getting the playoff man that look I mean if you get in the playoff and you're healthy enough. If Texas gets in the playoff of the schedule they play this year they will be as well prepared as any team as long as they're healthy enough to go make the run.

I mean you know you talk about when you're listening to a high school football because well you know we play this murderers row preseason the G.J. or scheduled to get us ready well Texas will be ready look but that doesn't mean you're going to in the end of play date chorus regular season schedule last year they didn't have Ohio State till the conference championship game they played Oregon but they were still in close games pin state was Mendoza. Highest moment was pin state not Ohio State not Oregon you're still going to have close games even if you don't play the top two or three ranked schedule but I think for this Texas team they would be so well prepared. If they just get in I mean Miami was well prepared last year they gone through some injury adversity lost the game they should absolutely should not have lost and they were physically healthy when they went into playoffs healthier than they were. And a lot of the ACC schedule time to just get in if you're healthy enough you're prepared and you know you're talented enough to go make a run that's all I don't care if it's 12 and 11 and 1 10 and to just get in the dang thing and let's see what happens.

I think it's a basketball tournament where you need to be a one or two seed in your odds go way way up to get to a final four that's not what we're talking about here. Now I think the other thing to consider to rather than run out of the score especially against Texas state and UTSA I think Sarc would like to get his starters out to start you know start in the edge in terms of depth getting as many depth guys ready because there may be that number six defensive tackle that isn't getting consequential snap right now but you may need him in game 13 or 14 so I think that means more to Sarc than run it up the score. By the way before in this Jeff to your point I think one of the toughest things on Sarc in the staff's plate this year because you exchange Sam Houston for another SEC game because Texas states a lot better in San Jose State because UTSA is a lot better in UTEP how are you going to get the young guys enough snaps in some of those guys enough snaps keep your locker room happy. Yeah. It's been easy in the past for all these these coaches at Texas you've had those games where you could get you knew going in you could play 80 guys if you wanted to you knew those games could get to that point you don't have those games this year on the surface so that's something that Sarc got a balance.

It's against Texas state and UTSA for the better out there. I don't know that it's going to do for this episode of coffee and football presented by Von Lane but think Von Lane along with prize pick she'll pay city store and advance pink care all for sponsoring today show don't forget got the big watch with us tonight Jerry Hamilton and later today Amanda at well makes her return back to OTF she'll be with Bobby and CJ for locking horns that will be mid to late afternoon but I think Bobby said somewhere around three to four p on that will be. So be sure to tune into that and then they will be out at the co up tomorrow at three p on as well but again that watch party tonight Westfield versus Richmond Randall going to be a a dang good game Jerry yeah landable Williams call us trying to go great thousand rushing yards tonight against a talented Westfield team I think Randall's a favorite to win the football game obviously but come watch landable Williams call us on Simon Cass live with us and we'll have a good time.

We'll have a great chat and have a lot of fun. That's right and don't forget also that pick them contest is going on overhead on Texas football calm all you got to do is pick the score for Texas versus Texas state but it was closest wins a free month subscription to on Texas football calm. And yeah so other than that that's going to do it like I said for this episode we hope you all have an outstanding day today we will see you tomorrow morning so for Jeff and Jerry Hamilton and Bobby Burton I'm Blake Monroe and we'll see you then.
