1:02So that's nice, but we're excited about the game this weekend I'm gonna have to get a little nappy poo on Saturday before we kick it off at 915 But you and everybody else. Yeah, it's gonna be a long day for sure. It's only gonna be 815 for you though, you know mountain time But anyway, we're looking forward to it. I mean look at here's here's the deal just I mean when you start your weekend off with whiskey Myers I mean that Put you behind in the sleep category, doesn't it? Yeah, you know, here's a deal Clint about I don't know 3 30 or 4 in the afternoon on Thursday That's when the weekend starts for me typically so I'm kind of right in the thick of things Yeah, the only problem is they may be coming to 3 already a show on Friday the next day which makes the weekend You know a little more challenges the thing with me Clint's I Know my my weekend starts Friday. I'm just in still in college apparently. Yeah. Yeah, I'm you know listen Sometimes you gotta go back to sometimes you gotta go back to the old schedule man I get it. I was the Thursday got one point, but now with these two year old and four year old and Number three on the way with the wife. I you know, I'm more of a Friday kind of Friday afternoon kind of got to feel so

2:05Sometimes you gotta just switch it up. I get it. Yeah, well listen Clint in about 20 years I'm gonna call you back and I bet you have a little rekindling of the the wild days because when you get all those Here's the house Hey, Justin here's the deal on my and man, but I'm gonna be retired by that time So it's gonna be it's gonna be all week not nice starting Thursday. I mean, I've seen people disappointed after a win in Arkansas before But I don't know that I've seen much more negative reaction than I did from Arkansas's victory over North Alabama What what was your take and I saw you actually specifically mentioned something with the offense of lying You didn't like so just curious about the overall then give me the specifics on that Yeah, look, I mean it was the first week out I think the number one priority for this football team for the whole program was that the decent Show significant improvement over last year. I mean that that was absolutely embarrassing

3:08What we saw last year and whether it be talent or coaching or effort or whatever it may be that was the number one priority That had to happen right and we saw that so I think it was a win overall beyond just the win in the in obviously the the win column But but it was a for Arkansas's program. We took a step forward from where we were I think last year now You flip over the problem is you flip over the office of the ball and it was as good as it was on defense Um, it was awful on offense and and I think You know the easy way to look at as well as week one and you know quarterback had to play a lot of football and it's a new system and In today's in today's era football you have guys that you know the roster turnover and and I just can't it was so bad I can't look at it like that. I mean it was you can start with every position other than a running back position um and and you can say it was a real struggle And they're major concerns at every position Um, and so that's that's obviously never a good spot to be in so um

4:13You know the the quarterback was was there's no there's no way to put it. He was it didn't appear to be prepared Um, he it was it was bad bad quarterback play there were major misses That were high school level reads That the ball didn't come out of his hand on time. Why the receivers wide open balls out of his hand at all sometimes So you know, it was it was it started with the quarterback it was terrible and then the offensive line for it I think it's gonna be the toughest part to fix Uh, and what is specifically about the offensive line are you concerned about because you said I think you said in your 12 that they use something that you really can't stand with an offensive line. What was that? Yeah, I mean the two things that that I can't stand with offensive line two things Number one is You see guys across the board that don't finish place, right? I can't I mean it was so obvious That The commentators said oh well, I think you saw it 75 but it doesn't matter. It happened to multiple players The commentators said oh, we thought the play was over so we let the defender go you know like you that that and that happened

5:17It shows up all the time Throughout the whole game. It's it showed up the whole game guys just quitting and and it's it's never acceptable But when you have a quarterback that that mobile and and and is young and gonna hold the football it's even more important to play through the whistle And so that's one thing is when guys just stop their feet and watch the play Uh, whether it's a run-play or a pass play it happened for four quarters and it's just it I don't know if it's um the lazy or Attired because it was so hot or it could be a the coach doesn't You know the coach doesn't uh Doesn't not doesn't push that at practice. So that's number one. Um number two for me is the inability to effectively execute a double team Um, you know, it happens at all levels of football, but Justin it was I mean if you can't put two three hundred pounders on one guy and moving And get up to the second level then you're really struggling as an offensive line. So I don't know how you fix those things

6:20I just and I wonder if how much of this goes to some of the things you're just talking about Clint because Everything was off on the offense except and you're the running backs did look good But they had to make guys miss in the backfield way too often Cage I liked what I saw from kj Jackson last year a lot and Especially in the first half it just didn't look like the same quarterback and I wonder how much of that had to do with new system new teammates or just everything just not being in sync from the start Yeah, I look I agree with you man. I loved when I saw last year um But there's just there's just I mean Feel I would like to say That hey man, it is the system, but I'm talking about You know, last name you gotta hitch outside and you got a corner by the inside receiver and the corner The corner is wide open and we don't throw it You know, there's there's a go-round outside and a deep over route and these are routes that he's been running since high school It's not like we we they're throwing a complicated system at him that that he can't

7:22He can't you can't you can't processed Um, so those were the things that really you know He misses the touchdown The penalty ended up negating it anyway because he ran for 10 or 12 yards, but um a penalty would have negated it But he misses the touchdown and it's that whole play is drawn up For the motion guy to hit the the lightest Grimmitz full speed and you hitting down the sideline That's the whole reason you call the play and the ball didn't get out of his hand. So you know those kind of things are are It's it's frustrating to see I do think the quarterback thing is fixable I do think kj's better than what he did. I think I think that's very fixable That's the one positive. I think That I can take from it is it wasn't it was a terrible it could have thrown for 400 yards Um, I mean it could have been it could have been liked out of half time and should have been liked out of half time But it's very fixable Uh the online stuff maybe you know not so much that drops by the wide receivers I don't know not so I don't know those guys well enough, but um

8:24You know that's those are two things they got to fix. I can't really like those guys is offensively what they're doing um, you know crams yeah, I like the I like his ability to get um Number five involved in creative ways the screen game different screens um, you know, I love 83 down there in the in the red zone Um, six has got a real chance to be to be special Marshall Um, and I like crams these ability to get those guys the ball so Um, hopefully they can turn it turn everything around this week Yeah, Sutton Smith is an intriguing piece, I guess and again in the we saw explosiveness in the front return as well got negated by a By a penalty, but hopefully um he gets some more moments like that. What do you think about the most? Just that's the big that's the big picture right Justin is that first quarter I mean you if you want to if you want to do a clinic on how to not start a football game From The whole thing was that first quarter it's hard to believe that they squeeze that much bad into one quarter. So um, you know, that's that's a good point

9:29But that's part of the problem. It's like if you I know some teams will talk about the whole offseason We're preparing for that first opponent How can you how can that quarter happen not just open a game clamp but to open the season just didn't feel prepared and that to me Considering the things I thought and still think about Ryan Silverfield being ill prepared emotionally mentally to just didn't jive with me at all Yeah, it's hard to it's hard to wrap your head around. There's nothing no doubt about it. It's hard. I mean, I said it Early in a week. I mean if if I'm the online coach of the quarterback coach, I'm embarrassed right now Right, it's I mean the one the one saving grace is that that Silverfield had no hold back I mean at halftime and in his post game he let it rip so Um, you know that that's that's one positive, but I agree with you. I mean you they should have just absolutely destroyed that football team Well, those are the worst jerseys in America by the way

10:32Very small lettering yes All right, let's talk about some other jerseys. What do you think of the matchup with Utah and what concerned you the most and where's the Obviously, there's plenty of room for improvement on offense. I guess and we're learning more a little more about the defense and see if last week's performance was uh, you know real or not. I guess they're gonna get a completely different test this week Well, I think you know defensively that the they did everything he needs to do Right and and I was I was I love when I saw defensively now What what our question about the defense? I would hope would be well. Hope would have been the question about the whole team Right is okay now. Does that transition versus a better opponent now? We'll see I love the way the defense formed. I mean that is that is very convincing I don't know if player for players, you know those guys The step up and talent isn't gonna it gonna be a bit of a problem But when you talk about the team effort that's your ambition to anybody. So I love that um

11:33You know, I don't know what's done about Utah But I think this game is is more about about Arkansas. I mean obviously You know is KJ Jackson can tighten up the get just forget the as bad as the offensive line play was that I mentioned If KJ can just get the ball to the open receivers Let's say 50% of the time We'll have shot to win the game But it's not then it could it could get ugly quick Okay, we're gonna leave it there.
