And with great deals across the lineup, now's the time to find yours.
But hurry, these deals won't last long. Toyota's easy choice sales event ends soon. We make it easy. Toyota, let's go places. The first one, seven games, the last three, tied one. The Giants have won six, lost three and tied two. Should the Giants win, they will have wound up for the record of the seven wins, three losses, two defeats, while the Cleveland Browns would have concluded a season with seven wins, four losses and one tie. And that of course would elevate the Giants over the Browns in the second place for the runner-ups, spot to the Eagles and the spot in the Playoff Bowl between the second finishing teams in both divisions.
Should of course the Browns win, naturally retain possession of the second place and the Playoff spot against either Baltimore or San Francisco or Detroit. Any one of those three teams could wind up in second place in the Western Division. This is a ball game, both teams would like to win of course. It's a great rivalry. The 24th meeting, Cleveland's 111 games, the Giants 11, they've tied once. And of course this is the final game for Jim Lee Howell as head coach of the football Giants and the boys would like to give him a victory for the parting of the waves, though he will continue the Giants organization. And the personnel department, the Cleveland Browns are being introduced.
The Ness now are introducing Jim Houston. They are introducing the defensive team. Jim Houston is the left-hand number 82. Bob Gain at left tackle employed Peters at right tackle, have been introduced. And Vince Costello from Ohio, you and his fourth year, he's the middle linebacker, has just been introduced. And Gail and Fiss is the left linebacker. He's the University of Kansas in his 50 year in the professional ranks. And Walt Michaels, a nine year veteran from Washington Lee, the right linebacker. And so the forward wall of the linebackers on defense for the Browns have been introduced. Now, in the secondary, Bernie Parich, who will play the defensive left-hand back spot, has been introduced.
He's from Florida in his second year. Jim Schopner, defensive right-hand back from Texas Christian, his third year in pro ranks. Down climbing will be at the left safety spot. Let me. Cleming also is the University of Florida. He's a rookie in doing a fine job. And Bob Franklin from Ole Miss, Charlie Connelly School, playing the right safety spot in his rookie year in the pro ranks. And so the Cleveland Browns, starting defensive unit, has been introduced. The rest of the Browns, the giants are waiting to be introduced. And just a moment, the game will be getting underway with the opening kickoff. For me and my car, when we start here at the Amical side, we hit Amical gas, and my call. Powerful gas, though I catch fuel and hit the class, it's all good power. Has no record of conduct, lots and will sell underhand. Start to the pressure, please up here with me.
Say to my on your engine, news, snooze, or calling in your place. I push your advantage, but you smile on your face. And the call, gas, takes you far. Bring the back in every car. Keep your credit, put up on free. Pull in, grab on to all your cars, and hit me. Watch your car, place the ground. We'll be leading, however, let you go. You're ready, I'll get the up on the car. Be kind to the stars. We're Amical gas. The football giants being introduced, Frank Yousau at Wright Tackle from the University of Minnesota. His third year in the pro ranks, Rosie Brown from Morgan State, better than eight years. Blue quarterly owned of Clemson, starting at left guard and Jack Straub, Dab Tennisy at Wright Guard.
And Bob Snellker, and his eighth year at right hand from Bowling Green. And Coke captain Kyle Rode, and he'll get it here. Bob Schmidt will be starting at center and place of Ray White Tackle, Charlie Connolly being introduced. Joe Morrison, and I'd write half back for the giants from Cincinnati near second year in the pro ranks. Ed Sutton from the University of North Carolina came to the giants this year from Washington. I'd left half back and at full back, Mel Triplett. Ray White Tackle is in uniform, but will not start, will be the first game he has not started in quite a while. He may get into the game, but at the moment is problematical.
He had not missed a minute of offensive play because of an injury in seven years before the start of this season. And this was the eighth year, and so that's the first time that he's been out of action. The Cleveland Browns beat Philadelphia 41 to 24, Pittsburgh 28 to 20, Dallas 48 to 7. The Eagles beat him 31 to 29, the beat Washington 31 to 10, the giants beat the Brown 17 to 13 earlier this year in Cleveland. And then the Browns beat the cards 28 to 27, lost to Pittsburgh 14 to 10, Cardinals tied him 17, 17, the beat Washington 27 to 16 and last week. The Cleveland Browns belted the Chicago Bears 42 to nothing. The giants won the toss and will kick off. The giants of 1-6 lost 3 tied to, having beaten San Francisco St. Louis and Pittsburgh tied by Washington, beaten by the Cardinals.
They turned around, beat Cleveland and Pittsburgh then lost 2 straight to the Eagles. 17 to 10, 31 to 23, were tied by Dallas 31-31 and last week in the snow the giants beat Washington 17 to 3. The giants will defend the goal to your left as you look at your radio dial. We'll receive at that point the Browns will defend the goal to the right on the middle of your radio dial. I want to look at it that way. And the Giants receiving team, a Giants will kick off rather. The Giants kicking off team at Summer Hall will boot it. Along the line been Jim Leo Bill Stitz, Rosie Brown, Bill Crawford, Dick Lynch, Luke Cordelia on Tom Strott, Lee Rally and Bob Simmons. The deep man, Bob Mitchell and Jimmy Brown. We're ready. Here we go. Summer Hall boots it. It's high and is coming down at the five-yard line, fumbled by Brown and Mitchell. Mitchell fixed up the 10, is hit and dropped at the 13-yard line by Rosie Brown.
As Brown and Mitchell both attempted to receive the kickoff they fumbled it. And so the Browns have the ball first in 10 on their 13-yard line. Dick Lynch making the tackle. And now you've got Milton Plum in there quarterback with Bobby Mitchell, Jimmy Brown. That left half and full respectively. Ray Renpo, the right halfback spot. And then comes out as a wide left end. Niggler, a wide right end and Ray Renpo to the right. First play is a pass intercepted by Lynch on the 15 to the turn to the five. He's over for the catch now. How about that? Now Plum and only one pass intercepted all year on the first play of 13-yard line, fated back. Go about the three, throw a pass to the near sideline, intended for a crackling a down and out pass.
To the sideline, Dick Lynch, the Fenture Brown have picked it off at the 15 and went for the score. Now some are all bunched. It's up, it's good. Time out call on the field of play, the score, the giant seven, the Browns having. For me and my car, money from cheer at the animal sign with American girls. And the calls American girls, price like the regular, the drugs are fast. Especially me to give you more. More for you money than ever before. And American girls, especially time to give you more. And the call on the field of play, the score, the giant seven, the Red American gas you stretch your dough. American gas, priced on the bargain with all the other regulars, the benefit by car. Now any economy, the Hornets too. American gas, for you, whatever the car, whatever the big thing.
And with your regular, I make them a thing. I'm getting down from any to regular gas. Get the best, don't the regular, sit, sit, sit, all American gas. So on the first 29 seconds of play, the giant score, as Milk Plum, had his second pass of the year intercepted. All right, Pat Somerall ready to boot. Here's his kick. It's going deep and down to the five yard line taken by Bobby Mitchell. He's up to the 10 to the 15 coming to the sideline. And his outer bounds at about the 20 run out by Lee Riley. And he's skitted on some of the ice along the sideline. The field, by the way, is in good. Seems like every California homeowner knows someone whose insurance has been canceled. That's where Kin comes in. Kin can help with flexible coverage across all 58 California counties. And policy options tailored to the risks you face where you live, including wildfire, wind, and severe weather. Can see why California homeowners are turning to Kin at Kin.com slash podcast.
That's k-i-n dot com forward slash podcast. Kin refers to Kin Distributor Insurance Services, a licensed California surplus lines broker. Coverage is placed with an insurer that is not licensed or regulated by the California Insurance Commissioner. The shape down at one end of the field just a little bit hard. But otherwise the footing is pretty good. It's first and 10 now for the bounds on their 21 yard line. Seven and nothing in favor of the Giants. Plum had tried 211 passes and that was only the second that had been intercepted out of 211. He has crackling as a wide left end and run for a wide to the right. Milk plum against a front line of Ford rushing close along pass and it is over thrown in 10th of a Bobby Mitchell at midfield. Cliff Livingston drifted along so it's second and 10 for the bounds on their own 21 yard line. The Giants have Tom Scott, Dick Mozalesky, Rosie Grin and Andy Robustelli as the front four with the linebackers Cliff Livingston, Sam Huff and Harlan Sparry.
Lyndon Crow Dick Lentz shed the defensive halves, Dick Nolan, Jimmy Patton at the safety spots. Milk plum has Mitchell Brown and run pro in the backfield. Critling and Negger at the ends. A flanker right and N-spread left and plum of the ball paid straight back. Throws a swing pass to Brown to get away from one two man from a third man. Pick up a block. He's coming to the 15 of the 20s. Huff hits him, he gets away and is run out on the 25. So Jimmy Brown, who was almost trapped for a loss back up at about the 10 yard line or 15 yard line, I should say, came to the near side line evading several woodbeat tacklers. Pick up a block from Bobby Mitchell and was run out on the 25 yard line by Dick Nolan. So the ball is on the 25 yard line. Rennprobe line to the right, Critling, line to the left, Mitchell running from right half.
And here is plum of the ball firing to the side line and it's incomplete and tended for a Rennprobe with Lyndon Crow over to cover. And so it's a 4,000-six situation coming up and the punting unit goes in for the Cleveland Browns with Bill Stits and Lee Riley going in as a double safety for the Giants. Sam Baker comes in to do the punting for the Browns. Seven and nothing in favor of the Giants first period. And believe it or not with all this action, we still have 14 minutes and six seconds left. We've only played 54 seconds of playing time. The Browns line up and shift into the punting. Going back to the 10, Sam Baker, you'll get the kickoff from about his 15. Lee Snap from center, here's the kick. It's a high kick and a fair cat signal for by Bill Stits at the 43 yard line of the Giants. And so it's the Giants ball first in 10 on their 43 yard line.
Grey White Tekken now goes in at center for the Giants. Charlie Connell in it quarter bag. This is the first time the Giants have had the ball offensively intercepted pass led to the score. Rook wide to the left, Morrison wide to the right. Charlie Connelly with Sutton and Triplon in behind him. He gives a handoff now to Sutton on a crisscross pattern. He comes up to about the 44-45 yard line. Jim Houston, the left end, grabbed him round the ankles. So it is second down and about eight for the Giants on their 45 yard line. The Giants leading seven and nothing first period. The opening moments. If you just tuned in, Lentian intercepted to pass of plums. Deep and brown tarage are on the 15 and scooted for the touchdown. Kyle Rote comes to the right side to wide end, Sutton, the flanker to the left. Against a five-man line, the linebacker's in tight. Charlie Connelly now, in a long count, goes straight back, fades through. Who's wrote out there, but he's overthrown at the 35 yard line. Trailing back with him was Bernie Parish, defensive left half-back.
Far down the field on the other side of one end, Sutton, drawing off Jim Schopner. Passing time for Oat over thrown. And so it is third down and eight. Giants have the ball on their own 45. Detroit leading the Bears, 13 to nothing in the second period. Giants leading seven to nothing as a result of the pass-interception by Lentian on the brown 15. Sutton goes wide to the left, wrote wide to the right. Third down and eight. Trippet and Morrison behind Connelly. Chuck goes back, fades, fires a pass, shelter, graduate at midfield, is run out of bounds by Bob Franklin on the 45 yard line of a Cleveland Browns. Charlie Connelly hit Bob Schnellker on a down and out pass at the far side of the field and picks up the first down. Floyd Peters put on quite a rush from right tackle along with Bob Gaines, Bob Franklin ran Schnellker out of bounds.
First in ten for the Giants on the Browns 45. A 12th land goes on the field momentarily and is quickly run off. Now we're ready to continue. Where the rope wide to the left and Morrison wide to the right. Sutton and Trippet behind Connelly against a five-mile line. The ball given a Trippet bangs off on a slant off the left side of the Browns line for a short gain of about two yards. With Jim Houston, the left end and middle line back offense cost at all making the stop. Trying to go over Jack Stroud and Ray White Tekken. The ball's on the 42 yard line again of three seconds and seven. Seven and nothing in favor of the Giants first period. Morrison comes out wide to the right, rope wide to the left. Sutton and left half tripplet full against a five-mile line. Linebacker strong to the right side Connelly with ball. Fades for pass. Throws out to Rout who grabs at the 25 yard line and is pushed out of bounds immediately by Jim Schopner at the 23 yard line.
Let's see where they spot it at the 24 yard line. So that moved the ball 18 yards and a first down for the Giants on almost the 23. Alex Webster replaces Sutton and left half back now for the Giants. Giants leaving seven and nothing when the 11-1-1-1-1 to go in the first period. Jim Houston Bob Gain Floyd Peters and Paul Wigan, the front four for Cleveland, Fisk, Costello and Michael's the linebackers. Kyle Rout comes to the right side and Webster clanks out to the left. Against a six-man line the ball is given off on a crack up the middle after a fake to tripplet to Joe Morrison got short yardage. Perhaps a yard as Paul Wigan the right end and Floyd Peters and Bob Gain all collaborate into the offensive play as Sutton now moves in for Webster.
It is second down and about nine for the Giants with the nose of the ball almost on the 22 yard line. Kyle Rout comes wide to the right Sutton. Flanker left, Schnellker tight left end, Chippell and Morrison in behind Conner against a six-man line. Connerley fades back for a pass looking for Rolt. He throws and Rolt feds a farthest down and he caught it between Paris and Fleming. Next great combination, Conner Litter-Rolt and Rolt pops the ball between two defenders and a yard inside the boundary line in the end zone. And the Giants have just marked 79. Let's check that. They have just marked 57 yards for the touchdown. Connerley holding, Summer Hall will boot it. The winning the staff from sunny areas, the spot the kick it's up, it's good.
Time out call on the field to play the score, the Giants 14, the Browns nothing. Once upon a time when high-button shoes were in style, all the cars battery had to take care of was the spark plugs. Kyle wrote, just caught his ninth touchdown pass of the season and his 39th pass reception. 14 to nothing Giants first period, Pat Summerer are moving forward to kick off. A high one going to Bobby Mitchell. He takes it on the eight yard line after the 10-15 or the 20 running hard right up the middle of the 25 bolting through to the 30 and finally down he goes. He had good down field blocking and moved the ball across the 35 to the 37 yard line tackled by Dick Lynch finally and Jim Leo. First and 10 for the bounce on the 37 yard line. Mill Plum. Sensory Renfro wide to the right, Critling and Megartite ends.
A long count Plum fades looking for a potential receiver throws down and out and incomplete Renfro fell of the ground down at the 40 yard line of the Giants. The Lyndon Crow and Dick Nolan had gone down with him as Renfro tried to run a zigzag pattern but tripped over himself. Bobby Mitchell had gone down the near sideline and in to draw off a defender and so it is second and 10 for the Browns on their 37 yard line. The Giants leaving 14 to nothing in the first period. Renfro wide to the right, Critling comes wide to the left. Jimmy Brown and Bobby Mitchell in behind Mill Plum. Plum on a draw against a Brown, he comes to the side, gets away from one of two tacklers, gets a block from Mitchell and goes for a yardage. He ran mostly laterally to the 40 yard line, picked up about three yards on a play on a draw. He was rushed hard by Dick Mojaleski and Tom Scott and Sam Up and Spherr.
They forced him laterally and finally Jimmy Patton ran him out at the 40 yard line. Gained three yards on the play, it is third down and seven for the Browns on their own 40. Giants leading 14 to nothing, 10 minutes and 10 seconds yet to go in the first period. Negler comes to the left side and so does Critling but Critling drops off as a back and Renfro up on the right side as an end. Plum fakes to Brown, pays for pass, being rushed hard, being rushed hard by Robas Deli. Then he throws a long pass and it is intercepted by Lynch on the 30 yard line. The Critling is thrown, a marker is thrown, wait a moment, it was intended for Critling and it is a pass interference called against Lynch with Negler and Critling both running. Negler came over him right in and down the near sideline on a crossover with Critling running straight down. Pass and Tannipra Critling though Lynch intercepted it.
A pass interference penalty is called and the Browns have the ball. On the 32 yard line of the Giants, first down. This time Plum looking over the defense, fakes to a Gibbs to Brown this time. Brown is stopped short of the 30 yard line, got about a yard. Jimmy Brown stopped by Dick Mojalesky and Sam Huff. He had before faked to Jimmy Brown a couple of times in pass this time, he gave to Brown and continued to come on back as if he had the ball to throw. So it is second down and nine for the Browns on the Giants 31. The guard shuttling them out, Paul Brown sending in his messages. Gene Hickerson and John Moot and the right guards shuttling them out. Brent throw wide to the right, Critling a tight left end and then the Negler tight right end. Milk Plum now against the Simeon line fakes, throws a long pass.
His man is out there and he's got it. Ray Brent throw for the touchdown. Ray Brent throw caught it in behind Lyndon Cole in the corner to the far side of the field for the touchdown. The Pum, a 31 yard pass play from Fomner and Probe and it is 14 to 6 as these two teams have taken to the air. And so with nine minutes and eight seconds left to play in other words we haven't quite played six minutes we've had three touchdowns. Now the try for the extra point, Sam Baker will boot it, Franklin holding. Here's the spot the kick the ball is up and it is good. The game out called the field play the score the Giants 14 the Brown 7.
Yes economy starts with Amaco gas because of all premium gasoline only Amaco gas contains no lead. No lead to form deposits that foul up vital engine parts or corrosive acids that eat away at your muffler and tailpipe. You save on engine repairs on engine two nubs fill up with premium unleaded Amaco gas best gas for any car at the Amaco sign. Sam Baker getting ready to kick it off or the Browns bill stits and fill King of the two deep men for the Giants. Giants leading 14 to seven with nine minutes and eight seconds of playing time remaining yet in the first period. There are two men in behind Baker Baker runs forward now to boot it.
It's up and going down to the two yard line taken by Bill Stits is running the first side of the field up to the 10 to the 15 driving hard across the 20 to the 25 is tackled as he crosses the 25 to the 26 yard line with Ross Wheatner making the tackles and Dick most are though it is the Giants ball first and 10 and they have spotted it on the 26 yard line of the Giants. Giants leading 14 to seven. Snelker comes out wide to the right road wide to the left Charlie Connelly with triplet and Morrison in behind him along count on a draw play gives the triplet bolting for a quick burst up the middle on a trap play across the 30 to about the 32 Floyd Peters made the tackle is the right tackle for the Browns. Mel triplet bolting up the middle on a trap play and moving the ball to the 32 yard line again up six second and four.
Morrison comes wide to the right and wrote is wide to the left. This time the ball is given the Sutton the left half back coming wide he cuts back gets a block and he comes over and is up ended on the 40 yard line. Luke courtly on through a neat block in there and Jack Stroud the right guard also had pulled out as the man on the line blocked effectively to contain some of the defenders and done flaming the left safety man came up to make the tackles. So it is the first down for the Giants. Nine yards picked up on the plays the ball spotted on the 41 of New York wrote comes out wide to the right this time Sutton planks out to the left and Snelker a split left end against a five man line again a draw played triplet slants and goes to the 45 yard line of the Giants a host of Browns formal over him. But he's still with that good leg drive of his picked up the yardage with Paul Wigan the right end and Walt Michael the right linebacker collaborating on the tackle.
It is second down and six for the Giants on their own 45 yard line the Giants leading 14 to seven first period seven minutes of playing time remaining. Morrison comes out wide to the right wrote splits far to the left Sutton and triplet behind Connelly and Connelly fades straight back to throw throws over and comes back to the right. Close over and completes it at the near sideline to the Browns 45 yard line to Bob Snellker who immediately pushed out by left safety man done Fleming as Snelker ran a down and out pattern with the defense as we looked at it lined up with a linebacker strong to the right and seeking to put a rush on on that side. And Connelly who is a great prober of defenses put this past to Snellker to the other side of the field the ball is on the 44 yard line of the Browns first and 10 for the Giants Sutton Sutton flanks to the left roach puts out to the right this time the ball is given to Morrison going wide cuts back he is hit short of the 40 yard line about the 42 Walt Michaels was there Floyd Peters Paul Wigan and we pause 10 seconds for station identification.
This is WRW all the new year. Second down and seven for the Giants on the Brown 41 Sutton wide to the left. Snellker a tight left and roach wide to the right Connelly the ball fades he is looking and he is hit. Fumbles at about midfield Jim Houston put on quite a rush the fumble was recovered by the Giants at the 49 yard line. Connelly juggled the ball and Jim Houston fell on him as Connelly recovered the ball for loss of eight yards third and 15 for the Giants on the Browns 49. Connelly was looking for Roat but didn't find him in time. This time Roat comes out wide to the right. Snellker wide to the left and Morrison moves in motion from right half back and is a fake and a swing pass to Sutton as a marker thrown Sutton is running hard across the 40 down to the 35 yard line but there's a marker thrown.
Tacos made by Don Fleming. There was a marker on the play and the referee Harry Brewer is getting the word from Ed Linesman Dan Tien and the penalty will be against the Giants. Harry Brewer is the referee James Bearsdorf of the Empire Dan Tien the headlines from the back judge Cleo Diel and the field judge James Toney. They let Bob Gain they left tackle through on that play and trapped him. We still have not gotten the signal but we'll give it to you as soon as the penalty stepped off and the signal given to us. Harry Brewer has not yet stepped it off. Officials are having a discussion but we still haven't gotten the signal from them. Now the ball is spotted down on the 35 yard line of the Giants. Illegal motion is the signal.
15 yard penalty. Now the empire is going back in and offensive pass interference they have called it. It's an odd signal but that's what they finally gave. So it is 13 30 and we're ready to go. The ball is going to be in the right and the ball is going to be in the right and the ball is going to be in the right. And wrote by the left connolly fakes and has to hold it all as he is down on the 30 yard line by Bob Gain. But on quite a rush also Paul Wiggins came rushing in on him and now the punting unit will go in with Don Chandler in the kick. So Jim Leo stits and Riley and triplet behind the line to protect poor Chandler.
Balls on the 34th and 35 Mitchell and Schaffner in a double safety for the Browns. This nap from center here's the kick. It's a beauty a high spiral going down to the 26 yard line and a fair cat signal for Jim Schaffner caught the ball on the 26 yard line. And that was quite a tremendous boot. About 60 yards in the air. Giant's leading 14 to 7, 5 minutes to go in the first period. The Browns ball first in 10 on their 26 yard line. And they'll climb now with two wide ends and a wide back on a draw play to Mitchell Mitchell breaks loose and is finally down as he crosses the 30 at the 33 yard line.
Dick Lynch made the tackle Jimmy Patton was on the ground too on a draw play by Bobby Mitchell. A burst from the 26 to the 33. A seven yard gain. Second and three. Giant's leading 14 to 7 in the first period. 4 1 1 2 go. Run for all goes out wide to the right. Both ends in tight. Prycling left end. Leglar at right end. Plum puts Mitchell at the left half spot. Brown at full. And the ball is given to Jimmy Brown finds a hole and drives down to the 37 or 8 yard line tackled by Sam Huff and Click Livingston. Jimmy Brown following Johnny Wooten is right guard. Move the ball to the 38 yard line again. And it's the first down for the Browns first in 10 on their own 38. Wooten and Hickerson of the guards who shuttling it out carrying messages from coach Paul Brown.
14 to 7 Giants first period three minutes and 40 seconds to go. Run for wide to the right. Plum with the ball. Faced to pass through. And it is grabbed by Mitchell at midfield and he's tackled immediately at the 50 yard line by Jimmy Patton. A down and in pattern run by Fleetfooted Bobby Mitchell. They sought to breaking loose. A 12 yard pick up and it's first in 10 for the Browns at midfield. Wooten comes in for Hickerson with a play. Milk Plum directing the Browns. San Drunfow wide to the right. And then critling a wide left end. Mitchell and Brown in behind Plum against a five man line. A draw played a brown. He finds a hole and then is grabbed as he crosses midfield. Moves into Giants territory to the Giants 47 yard line. A Dick Moves of Eskysam Huff and Rosie Greer making the tackled. On to low speed.
Second down and seven. Four of the Cleveland Browns on the Giants 47 yard line. The Giants leading 14 to seven. Now two minutes and 40 seconds left in the first period. Run for all those out wide to the right. Megler, split right end. Crickling the left end is wide. Tour the nearest sideline. Milk Plum with the ball. Faced to pass. And he throws incomplete intended for Mitchell but he overthrown him. And Jimmy Patton who had gone to defend that side line cannot intercept. So it is third down coming up in seven to go for the Browns on the Giants 47. Critling and run for both went deep. But the idea was to shake Mitchell loose. So it is 14 to seven. Favorite of the Giants at two minutes. Left in the first period. Dick Nolan, Jimmy Patton, Lyndon Crow and Dick Glentsch have the pressure on him on this play.
Third and seven. Run for all wide to the right. Crickling wide to the left. And Crickling drops off as a back left with Megler on the left end. And it draw played a Brown fake. A keep by Pum throws a pass incomplete. And then the ball goes through on the first side of the field. The pass was apparently overthrown intended for Mitchell but a marker was thrown and we'll wait the signal. Lyndon Crow had gone over the ball apparently he was pushed but we'll see. And now they come to Andy Robustelli. So there could be an offensive pass in appearance. As Lyndon Crow went to intercept he apparently was pushed. Harry Brubecker's referee will step it off. We'll see. Of course the Giants made to climb the penalty to force the 4,000 situation with the seven.
And that's what's happening. The Giants declined the penalty. Offensive pass in appearance declined by the Giants as we finally get the signal. So it's 4th and 7th. And we have Bill Stitz and Lee Riley in a double safety for the Giants and Sam Baker goes into pun. 4th and 7th on the Giants 47. Brown start out from regular T and then shift into pun formation with Baker dropping back to his own 40. He will get it away from about his own 45. The snap from center and Sam Baker boots it high. Not too much distance but high and a paracatch signal for by Riley at the 20 yard line. So the Giants take over first and 10 at about the 20, 21 yard line it is. And with two minutes left in the first period the Giants are leading by a score of 14 to 7 in the final regular game of the season. And now Charlie Conley leading the offensive unit in with head Sutton Mell Triplet and Joe Morrison.
Since Sutton wide to the right and wrote wide to the left, Schnellker playing a tight right end against a five man line. A pitch now to Triplet trying to find the hole he finds a bit of a hole and drives forward to about the 27 or 8 yard line as he faked a sweep to the right and then cut back. Jim Houston making the tackle. Ray White Tech and Rosie Brown and Jack Stroud leading the offensive line blocking. Jim Houston played three interferes beautifully to keep Triplet from going for a longer game as he hand caught him and turned Triplet in and made the stop. So it is second down and about five for the Giants with rope wide to the right and Sutton wide to the left. Sutton the back. Now the ball is given to Morrison running wide to his left trying to pick up a block he gets open field and he's driving hard to the far side up to about the midfield strike. The loop cartley on the left guard pulling out and with Rosie Brown's offensive surge helping pave the way for that fine run to midfield almost a wide of bounds they say at the 45 yard line of the Giants.
Bobby Franklin making the stop. So it is the Giants ball first and 10 on their own 45. He picked up 19 yards on the play. Morrison flanks out to the right. Rote a split left end. This time the ball is given a trip at Gungers left he finds a hole on the sling. He's to the 40 to the 30 running hard. He's down to the 20 still driving to the 10 and down on the 8 yard line. Kyle wrote going a deep line and Bobby Franklin made the tackle. The tiny parish was really blocked out of there and is still on the ground at the 19 yard line. Kyle wrote through the block on it. And on that run by Mel Tripett he moved the ball down to the 9 comes out of the game and gets a hand. 46 yard run by Tripett.
Bill King is in and running at the fullback spot and from a balanced backfield that is a standard tight tee. The ball is given to King going to the outside and he drives down about the 5 yard line on a slant. Bill King running from fullback followed Rosie Brown and the gun sounds. That's the end of the first quarter with a score of the Giants 14 the Brown 7. You know these great battles between the Browns and Giants have come for a place the old Red Skin Bear games as pro footballs number one rivalry. And one reason the fans packed the place is that dynamic running attack of the Browns featuring Fleetfooted Bobby Mitchell to the outside blockbuster Jim Brown up the middle. A powerful to some that's the heart of the mighty Cleveland offense just as Mel Tripett and Charlie Colley collaborated as a heart of the Giants offense on that last play. And now when it comes to smoking a White House cigar has a special heart story of its own. You see White House give you a milder better tasting smoke because the tobacco inside the heart of the cigars carefully aged to perfection.
Aging takes out harshness puts in more that full rich mellow taste that quality tastes some smokers think have to pay more for. But fans why pay more why pay more when White House smoke like a million and yet cost just a dime. This year make Christmas shopping easy on yourself for the men on your list get White House the gay gift wrap boxes are economically priced for about a dollar and a half. Join on five dollars remember White House are a wonderful way to say Merry Christmas. As we get ready to start the second period the Giants leading 14 to seven. And they have the ball down on the five yard line. Go to goal ball on the five Mel Tripett back in for Phil King at full back. Art Morrison goes outside his right end as a flanker triplet in behind Connolly along with Ed Sutton.
And the goal line defensive alignment for the bounds Connolly fades for pass throws and completes it to set and then he dropped it just as he had his hands at the four. He dropped it as he was moving toward the out of bounds marker the Jim Schopner jarring the ball loose as he hit him almost at the same time he caught the ball. So it is third down and five. Giants 14 brown seven. The Browns had about an eight man forward wall air with the secondary and tight. Morrison goes out wide to the right Sutton and triplet in behind Connolly third down five to go on the five. Connolly with the ball fades to pass. Lutters somebody can't find them and then throws and it's incomplete just missed Kyle Rote in the end zone. Connolly had quite a rush put on him by Paul Wiggins and Bob Gaines and there were three four men around Rote and he still almost hit him but just barely missed him. And so it is fourth down and five and the field goal kicking unit losing out for the Giants as the Giants lead 14 to seven and the opening seconds of the second period.
The Don Bolrose Brown Dick Motzel ski Ray White Tekka Scrab use the robust Delhi. It'll be about a 15 yard effort. Here's the kick it's up and it is good. Time out Paul on the field of play the score the Giants 17 Cleveland seven. How many times she hears somebody say Christmas comes but once a year thank goodness. You'll find them conveniently gift wrap and on display wherever fine cigars are sold. That's so we're all getting ready to kick off Bobby Mitchell Jim Brown the two deep men. So we're all loose forward here's his kick it's a line drive type kick and it is fumbled on about the 15 by Caleb. He picks it up runs back across the 20 to the 25 and up to about the 30 before he's finally down a low kick that Sam or rather Jamie Caleb. Who is the understudied Jimmy Brown but is in on the kickoff up in front of the two deep men move the ball to the 30. The tackle made by Jimmy Leo and Bill Crawford first and 10 now for the Browns on their own 30. Renfro comes out wide to the right Bobby Mitchell trying from right half back spot and Brown and behind Plano has the ball face to pass
throws completed to Mitchell. Mitchell running hard up the midfield into the 40 turning on the speed of 20 to the 10 to the 5 and he's done for the test now. Renfro throwing up key block and knocked out Dick Nolan and Jimmy Patton two man with a one block at the 20. As 70 yard pass and run play as they sprung the fleet put it Bobby Mitchell loose the University of Illinois Speedster and his third year in pro ball and it is quickly 17 to 13. Mill Plum to Bobby Mitchell for 70 yards and the TD an exciting play and one Mitchell saw a delight. He was a blurs he's fed down the field he just simply out ran the giant defenders and got that one beautiful block by Renfro that took out Nolan and Patton at the 20. Sam Baker with Franklin holding will attempt the point here it is the kick is up and it is good. Time out called on the field to play the score the giant 17 the Browns 13.
Let me tell you about a friend of mine is on the wrong track. I was sitting straight about smoking satisfaction used to sit around chain smoking helping all day made himself an air body else a nervous wreck and then I got into try it wide out. Man what a hit that made he calm down began to enjoy smoking. You notice how good cigar let your legs slow and even that's the way tobacco should be smoked and White House give you a milder better tasting smoke because the tobacco inside the heart of the cigars carefully aged to perfection aging takes out harshness puts in more of that full rich mellow taste that quality tastes some smokers think you have to pay more for but why pay more why pay more when White House smoke like a million yet cost just to die. Next time you do it my friend did try White House only ten cents or get the handy five pack for just forty nine cents and by the way use the gar smoke is in certain states have to pay a few pennies extra because of tax we're sorry about that but thank you agree that even with tax you're getting your money's worth of White House every time.
All right Sam Baker will boot it bill king bill steps the deep man for the Giants 14 minutes and 14 seconds left to go in the second period 17 14 favor the Giants the kick high and deep and it is taken on the goal and by Phil King is up to the 10 to the 15 bears over to the 20 to 25 to the 30 down to the sideline he's running down the sideline the midfield ring out bounds on the 45 yard line of the bounds a great run back to the kickoff by Phil King and his third year from Vanderbilt he ran back 55 yards of 55 yard return the tackle made by Fred Murphy has the Giants ball first in ten on the 45 yard line of the bounds now Charlie Colley directing the team with a planker right and an expert left it's a road left and Morrison winded the right to give the ball to
the ball and he starts up the middle there was a daylight for a moment but just as he's getting up ahead of steam somebody hit him head on and it was Walt Michaels the right linebacker a jarring stop at the 43 yard line he ran over Luke quarterly on spot but Walt Michaels quickly closed the gap it is second and eight on the 43 of the bounds Morrison goes wide to the right road splits to the left we have Sutton and triplet in behind Connolly and Chuck with a ball fades to pass and being rushed throws he's got shelter at the 35 he goes to the 30 and is written out at about the 26 yard line by Galen Fiss as wrote went down and out to the opposite side short and button hooked back and took the pass and the Giants move for a first down at the 26 yard line a 17 yard game so with 13 minutes left in the second period we've already had 31 points scored the Giants 17 the bounds 14 wrote those wide to the right
button thanks to the left and Schnellkert is a tight left end Charlie Connolly with the ball gives it to Morrison on a sweep before blocking and goes down as he crossed the 25 to about the 23 yard line Walt Michaels or a fine roving linebacker move from the right line back a spot and moved over to meet the play and the ball is spotted down on the 24 second and eight for the Giants see just where they do spot it now second and seven on the 23 this time Roach wide to the left and Connolly on a draw gives to Sutton on a slant and Sutton gets just short yardage maybe back to the line of scrimmage perhaps a little more than that but we'll see he ran into Floyd Peters the right tackle and defensive right hand back Jim Schottner so it is now third down coming up
no gain on that play third and seven Morrison goes out wide to the right wrote the wide to the left Sutton and triple in behind Connolly defense moves in tight about a six man line the linebackers in tight and Connolly fades throws a pass incomplete and tenet for Sutton at the 22 yard line on a down and out pattern run by the left half with Schottner and Michaels and Costello guarding him and so with both down coming up to the ball on the 23 the field goal and the second inning and the second inning goes in and Pat Somerall while attempt to boot a field goal is the Giants laid 17 to 14 in the second period with 11 minutes and 20 seconds of playing time remaining it'll be a 30 yard effort the angle is good Connolly holding awaiting the snap from center of the bounds putting on a rush here's the kick it's up and it is good a 30 yard field goal and out is called the field of play the score the Giants 20 the bounds 14
well Christmas will soon be here and we'd like to suggest a wonderful gift when you can sit back and enjoy it like for instance mild yellow white house cigars that's what y'all to give your dad or your husband your sweetheart right about now start sneaking white out five packs on the wife shopping list next plant white house where they're sure to be seen the bureau glove compartment TV set and then make sure you're always popping on a white owl and raking leaves are reading the paper and finally convinced the kids to start sporting cigar ban range on their fingers guess which brand that'll really do it a box of better tasting white owls coming up this plan guarantee to give you your most enjoyable Christmas ever white owls conveniently get wrapped in priced from around a dollar to about five dollars twenty to fourteen in favor of the Giants with eleven limits and twenty four seconds to go in the second period
several moves forward for his kick and a line drive type kick bounces to a guard he gives it to Caleb Caleb comes back up the field of the 20th of the 30 and is down as he crossed the thirty five Larry Stevens with the lineman who took the kick off on a bounce and lateral back to Caleb the second unit pullback and he ran it back to the forty yard line where they spot it the tackle made by Rosie Brown and Bill Crawford so it's the Browns ball first and ten on their own forty Giants leading twenty to fourteen and now milk plum will go back in action Renfro wide to the right Mitchell with left half back Brown at both and gaps separating the two and plum fades to pass looking for Renfro now he's looking for Mitchell Mitchell's gone deep and he got it at the twenty five he had gotten in behind it lunch
Renfro had come down the new sideline plum took a look at him and then suddenly looked back the other way and there was Mitchell who delayed momentarily and sped down the sideline and he stayed even with the lynch and suddenly he fell on that spurt and got in behind him he just simply dropped the ball so the Browns are using Bobby Mitchell today concentrating on him breaking him loose as they did on that seventy yard pass and run TD played a little bit ago second and ten for the Browns in their own forty Renfro wide to the right the two ends in tight one with the ball fades to pass and he throws over to the near sideline admit field and Nagle Nagle is down at the forty six or seven yard line by Cliff Livingston and Dick Nolan Mitchell had gone down the far side of the field we pause ten seconds for stationite application this is the CBS radio network this is WRW 590 on your dial opening New York
Browns have the ball in the genit 46 yard line genit sleeping 20 to 14 ten minutes to go in the second period Nagle comes wide to the right Ray Renfro is a back wide to the right plum with the ball throws a pass it's incomplete and ten for cranking that gone straight down field and cut away from Jimmy Patton he faked him out of position but the pass was not there and so it is now second down coming up ten to go for the Browns on the Giants 46 the guard shuttle in out we're going to have a good halftime show with a Virginia State College of musical aggregation entertaining the folks Detroit leads Chicago 29 to nothing in the third period Renfro wide to the right crackling wide to the left Mitchell running from left half and Brown at full and they're tight in there and the ball is given the Brown he bolts off the right side of the giant line across the 45 down to the 42 or 3
he was hit at the 45 Karen Andy Robustelli and Sam Huff a couple of extra yards with him as he moved over the left tackle position with Dick Shaprap leading the surge and the ball is spotted on the 42 again a four yards third and six Giants leading 20 to 14 Browns on the attack and milk plum giving one of the Crow Dick Lynch Dick Nolan and Jimmy Patton a lot to contend with Renfro wide to the right crackling wide to the left Nager the right end Mitchell running from left half Brown at full and plum fades back and he throws and the pass is completed in Nager he's at the 30 yard line and out of bounds at the 29 Gernmager the right end in a look in pass over the center and move to the first side of the field tackled by Dick Lynch and a first down for the bounds on the Giants 29 as he moved 13 yards on that pass play and so milk plum following the
orders of course a Paul Brown confusing the defense as they're running a wide of pass patterns and passing everybody now Renfro wide to the right the two ends in tight Mitchell at the left half Brown at full and plum with the ball fades back looks for a Nager cutting down it out along pass and they leap forward and it's a incomplete Nager trying to get a hand on it the five yard line he complains to the linesman that Nolan in the field but no marker has been thrown there were two men down there and Megler and Renfro and Nolan and Cole also were down at the five and so it is now second down coming up and 10 to go for the bounds on the Giants 29 where the Giants leading 20 to 14 the Eagles and Redskins 7-7 in the second period Pittsburgh and St. Louis Corlus in the second period as you know the Green Bay Packers won their divisional title yesterday and the Eagles are ready to cleanse theirs the winner
of this game of course will go to the playoff bowl all right Nager and Renfro wide to the right tightly and tight left and Mitchell with left half and Brown at full and the pass is thrown incomplete intended for Nager a quickie over the line to Nager going straight down and over quick button hook incomplete that was a quickie just raised up and fired and so it'll be third intent coming up by the way be sure to listen to broadcast of the orange and cut in bowl games January 2nd on the CBS radio network third and 10 for the bounds on the Giants 29 this is the big play and Cole and Lynch and Nolan and Patton the secondary have to be alert six man line linebackers strong on the right side come with the ball of page are down and out to Mitchell he's got it at the twenty sidesteps a man comes later late and then is hit by Lynch at the 21 helped out by Cook Livingston as they passed the Bobby Mitchell he sidesteped
Holland Spire but then ran into Cliff Livingston and Dick Lynch so the balls on the 21 eight yard game it is fourth and two on the 21 and they timeout has been called with seven minutes and fifty seven seconds of playing time remaining in the second period and we have had a lot of fun watching the boys roll up the points as the Giants lead twenty to fourteen the Giants scored for you late two years in and the first twenty nine seconds after the kickoff Lynch intercepted a plum pass which is only the second pass he intercepted all year and two hundred eleven thrown and he ran for the touchdown and then the Giants came right back kindly passed a rope for a TD climb action at fifty seven yard drive and then the Browns 163 with plum passing to Renbro and then the Giants came back with the
field goal and Mitchell scored on the seventy yard pass and run play and the Giants picked up another field goal and it's twenty to fourteen and now the ball on the 21 yard line of the Giants fourth down two to go we'll watch the Browns and we'll see what they're going to do I haven't seen Sam Baker go in there the winner of this game will represent the Eastern Division in the playoff bowl on January the seventh against the second place winner in the Western division and the Browns are going to go for it with four things to they're going to go for it. Milk plum has run for wide to the right page throws a pass it is completed at the seventy yard line the re-run fall on a down and in pattern and immediately he is down on the seven yard line by Jimmy Patton re-run fall race down and in and the
Browns gamble in it paid off so the balls down on the seven Mitchell had left to have Brown at full and run for a flanker to the right and milk plum looking over the defense gives it thanks to Brown looking for Mitchell has it in the end zone for a touchdown the ball between Patton and Lynch and Bobby Mitchell scores again as the Browns gamble with four to two on the 21 and two passes one to run for and one to Mitchell makes it twenty twenty and now Bobby Frank in the hole and Sam Baker will boot it waiting to snap from center. Giants almost went off side here's a spot the kick is up and it is good and so
the score is Cleveland twenty one and the Giants twenty forty one point scored was still seven minutes and fourteen seconds left to go in the second period a 60 yard drive by the Browns paying off with Bobby Mitchell going the last seven yards and now the Browns will kick off to the Giants Giants led fourteen to seven at the end of the first period and here in the second period the Browns scored two touchdowns and the Giants two field goals and the Browns lead twenty one to twenty so the Browns are out to try and break the Giants streak over them Giants are one six consecutive games from the Browns Sam Baker will kick off and the deep men are billed stits and fill kings Browns having come from behind they've trailed a
fourteen and nothing and now they lead twenty one to twenty with Bobby Mitchell being a day of a concentrate on as the Giants set their deep fences. Of course you have to set them for both Brown and Mitchell. Sam Baker moves forward here's his kick high and plenty of time for the cover. It's taken by Bill Stits on the seven is back to the ten to the fifteen to the twenty to the twenty five where he is downed by Jean Hickerson so it is Giants ball first and ten on the twenty five yard line the weatherman cooperated beautifully today field in good shape snow removed by Jim Thompson stadium superintendent and his crew first and ten for the Giants in their own twenty five seven minutes yet to go in the first half rope goes out to the right and that's Sutton flanks to the left. Snoker tight left end Charlie Connelly against the six man line is the ball to tripp it banging up across the thirty and down on the thirty three yard quick burst on his trap play as he veered off the whole and moved quickly to the thirty two yard
line the gain of seven so it is second and three the tackle made by Jim Houston the left end from Ohio State second down and three rope goes out wide to the right had Sutton flanks to the left snoker tight left end against a five man line the ball is given to Morrison coming wide he is trapped and prone for a loss at the twenty seven yard line as the bounds read that play well and three or four of them put on a storm with Floyd Peters the right tackle Gail and fish the left line backer Vince Castell the middle line backer Paul Wigg and the right end and Walt Michael the right line backer all moving in on it Rosie Brown attempted to shake him loose but could not so the ball now is on the twenty seven loss of five and his third and eight rope goes wide to the right Sutton flanks to the left Morrison and tripp it in behind Connelly Connelly fades back looks to the throw two does shelter has it and it's in the air and
comes to the ground the forty five yard line as Michael's in Frank and went up in the air with the snoker to head the ball in his hands and it popped out and then goes a chance for interception but the ball dropped finally to the ground so it is fourth down coming up and eight to go for the Giants on their twenty seven a good rush put on by the bounds and now going in his Don Chandler to kick for the Giants he's back on his thirteen yard line shopener and Mitchell the deep man the snap from center Chandler boots it gets off of beauty high smile and the workers thrown up the shopper takes it combos on the twenty two a battle for the ball he recovered shopper recovered on the twenty two or three yard line but there's a marker up field and it may have been a roughing the kicker will see still no signal but just the marker now Kyle Rope goes over to talk to an official and I believe he'll be a roughing the kicker penalty
and the Giants retain the ball and have it on their thirty two yard line so it's the first down the Giants have the ball half of the penalty on their thirty two grounds leading twenty one to twenty with five and a half minutes of playing time remaining in the second period at this point a timeout timeout called on the field of play the score Cleveland twenty one New York twenty two
three two three four three three two good reasons why more than five million times a day someone enjoys a cool game as head coach of the Giants took over in 1954 and up until today the guy to the Giants to remarkable percentage of six sixty seven fifty three wins twenty six defeats and four ties and football's fastest company captured three
divisional championships in one world title all right we're ready to continue as the Browns lead twenty one to twenty Giants ball first in ten on their own thirty two five minutes and nine seconds to go in the second period wrote wide to the right Sutton wide to the right yes the six-man line a fake two trippet a key pay pass at it is incomplete intended for Sutton but he wasn't looking and it drops harmlessly to the ground both Sutton and Morrison had gone down apparently judging from the way Sutton ran his pass pattern he was a decoy and currently sort of lead a lot of time pass into the open area in there open it Morrison catch up to it second and ten for the Giants on their own thirty two wrote this to the left and Morrison wide to the right Connolly now goes right straight back rolls out fires the pass and it is incomplete knockdown at the thirty five yard line but there's a marker thrown the pass was
intended for a triplet gala and this was there but there was a marker thrown as best band of the ball down and the penalty will be against the Giants and the area blue baker is about to step off the penalty and it is offensive pass and appearance offensive pass and appearance I'm going to see so many offensive pass and appearance is called as I in one game as we have had so far today and that penalty of course is for an offensive man preventing a defensive man from having a chance at intercepting the ball the ball is back on the eighteen yard line down remains the same second twenty five to go wrote wide to the right now Chuck Connolly against the six man line two line
back as strong to the right throws the pass into the first silker he bands it he's gone downfield riding hard across midfield down to the forty yard line of the bounds tackles our body Franklin Bob Schelker reached high and took Chuck Connolly's clutch pass that moved the Giants out to the forty yard line of the bounds with Bobby Franklin making the tackle he picked a rope and then threw to Schelker the big six foot four two hundred and fifteen pound and from bowling grain pressure was put on by Houston and Wigan the two defensive ends but Connolly is a master step to side first and ten now on the forty king and for trippin road off wide to the right sudden wide to the left twenty one time in favor of the bounds four minutes to go in the second period Connolly of the ball goes to Marson on the screen pass down the side line he goes running hard and gets good yards down to about the
thirty yard line where Vince Castell makes the tackle good and the time is not going by Frank you so the Giants are down on the thirty yard line first down three minutes and thirty seconds to go in the second period round leading twenty one to twenty and the grandest yelling go go go Chuck Connolly has Sutton and King and Marson in there goes out wide to the left Sutton Frank's to the left Connolly now fades back being rushed he throws a long pass into the road and it is incomplete the insolven almost intercepted by Jim Schopter you have two number forty fours after that one Schopter leaked high in the air to prevent a touchdown as wrote had gotten in behind him and Schopter Lee Piedley air almost
intercepted it but couldn't hold on to it and so it is second and ten for the Giants on the Browns thirty Sutton comes out and Alex Webster goes into replace him at left hand back their Browns put on quite a rush they had five to six men rushing Connolly at that time there are two forms of pass defensive pass batters and one rushing the pass of the other dropping metal now road is wide to the right and Connolly the ball quite a rush but on he throws a screen pass grabbed by Webster driving hard on the first side of the field still running it bites his way out of bounds and at about the fifteen yard line all weekend driving him out on a screen pass to Alex Webster and with Bill King pouring a key block in there Alex Webster moved down to the sixteen yard line fourteen yard gain on the screen pass again they put a six man rush with
Houston games players Wiggin Paris and Fist but they threw they let the lead through and Connolly let him through and through the screen pass to Webster Giants are down the sixteen the Browns laid twenty one to twenty three minutes to go in the second period wrote wide to the left and Schnellker at tight right end blanker far to the right Connolly with the ball and the edge bars and wrote in the end zone all takes a full touchdown all right Kyle Holger just wide open he ran right at Bobby Franklin gave him a head bake to the left and Franklin went that way and wrote went the other way Roots head went to the left and his feet went through the right and he was wide open for the touchdown Jack Connolly Kyle Holger and his twenty six to twenty one fair the Giants now Connolly will hold the snap the spot some of all boots it's up it's good and the score the Giants twenty seven the Browns twenty one with two minutes and fifty nine
seconds yet to go in the second period so for fans who like some wide open football they've had it here today as the Giants that time when sixty eight yards and are out in front twenty seven the twenty one having kicked two field goals in this period and I've come up with a touchdown on that last plate the Browns Alchard their defensive when you bring instead of rushing five or six man they rushed fewer men and drop more men back but Root went down and there was all along so Kyle Root grabs his second touchdown pass his tenth of the season besting his own record his previous high for any season was eight touchdown passes and he now has caught two today for total ten this season
all right that's summer already to boot with two minutes and fifty nine seconds left in the second period twenty seven twenty one Giants Mitchell and Brown deep some of all kicks slices it off to the right the ball twists and goes out of bounds and has had trouble with his kickoffs this afternoon their days like that with that lots of kickoffs today forty eight points with two minutes and fifty four seconds yet to go in the second period the Giants twenty seven and the Browns twenty one you know some years ago in these two teams are not these two teams but with the Browns and the Elmer conference and the old Yankees you remember a great game played here the Yankees had a twenty eight nothing lead going into the fourth period and the Browns came back and scored twenty eight to tie some are all loose forward kicks it in the thirty five yard line straight down
field Brown waits for it takes it on the eight back up to ten fifteen twenty straight up the field of twenty five is it gets away from a man down he goes as he crossed the thirty to about the thirty five yard line the hard running Jimmy Brown carrying the kickoff back and we'll watch where Harry Brewer back for spots it ball is spotted on the thirty four yard line tackle made by Bob Schmidt and Tom Scott first and ten for the Browns on their own thirty four Ray Rundfeld comes out the huddle wide to the right Mitchell's running from the right half back spot and Brown from the left that back spot one of the ball fades free man downfield the past two Mitchell he gets away from one man from a second man but then this roll out of bounds by the second man Sam Hupp the first man almost aim was cook Livingston they've been trying to shake Bobby loose and they've succeeded today scored two touchdowns one on a seventy yard pass in one play Bobby Mitchell
going to host to a first down they're going to measure to see whether or not he picked it up they had run for all and Brown and Niggler all down field and they've got to go to the short man Bobby Mitchell they're going to measure it and balls it just about the forty five yard line as they first down for the bounds first and ten for the Browns on the forty five they're brought up a world ring a variety of past patterns today and plum has been passing to Renfro and Brown to Mitchell to Niggler to Critely to the right and the right half back spot and Brown from the left half spot plum above the ball fades throws Mitchell has it two men on him and he gets away from one and his bounce down at midfield for how he can jitterbug Livingston again was on him but Mitchell after catching the short pass sidestep Tim the ball goes to the right and he's going to be able to
get the ball back and he's going to be able to get the ball back and Mitchell after catching the short pass sidestep Tim and then Sam Huff fell on him how he can jitterbug and dance and he can evade an elusive runner so the ball is on the forty nine yard line again a four second and six the guard shoveling back and forth both benches now notified the two minutes remain in the second period so giant twenty seven twenty one plum goes over now to talk to Paul Brown with time out as the officials have taken time out to notify each coach at two minutes remain in the half all right it is second down and six for the bounds on their own forty nine yard line giant leading twenty seven to twenty one two minutes to go in the second period Renfro comes out of the huddle wide to the right and coming outside of him is Niggler is Renfro
drops back as a back and crackling wide to the left now plum of the ball face throws along pass and ten it for crackling and it is picked off at the twenty two by Jimmy Patton and crackling immediately tackles him and Patton fell backward to the twenty as he picked off a pass and ten it for crackling and it's the giant's ball first and ten on their twenty Jimmy Patton coming up with a timely interception Niggler and Renfro had gone short but they sent a rich crackling deep hoping for the payoff pass and it was intercepted by Jimmy Patton of Ole Miss all right with a minute and forty seconds left the giant saw off and now Sutton wide to the left and rolled wide to the right snelker tight left end kindly gives the ball to fill King on a slam across the twenty to the twenty three Vince Costello middle line backer pounds his on him Webster goes in for Sutton as the cock
moves a minute and twenty seconds left second down and seven for the giants the ball about the twenty three a minute and twelve seconds remaining in the second period giant's leading twenty seven to twenty one the Eagles are going ahead of the redskins seventeen to fourteen the third period more scores later rolled out wide to the right snelker wide to the left against a five three the pitch goes to the left half back of Alex Webster he's dropped at about the twenty one yard line I thought he'd fumbled for a moment on a quick pitch to Alex Webster left half he is piled up at the twenty one by Walt and the second time he's got three cycles and Bob Gain to yard lost at his thirty nine for the giants thirty seven seconds thirty six thirty five and so on remaining in the second period and the giants will have one more play as they run the clock out here in the second period.
Marson goes wide to the right the two ends in tight and Chuck Connellay keeps the ball and pulls a bootleg heads for the sideline runs out of bounds Jim Schopker running him out at the twenty four and the clock is stopped with fifteen seconds left as Connellay fake and pulled the bootleg and rolled out and came to near sideline and Jim Schopker ran out of bounds the clock is stopped with fifteen seconds left and it brings up fourth down for the giants with the ball on their twenty three fourth and seven and Don Chandler goes in now Schopner and Mitchell drop back in a double safety setup and Chandler back on the ten yard line awaits the snap from center and the Browns up there with seven men to put a rush on the kicker there's a snap from center Chandler gets his boot away a nice high one Schopner waiting for the ball he lets it bounce a texture of burst twist and finally is down by Marson on the forty five yard line and with that time runs out the gun sounds the half is over that's the end of the first half of the
score the giants twenty seven the Browns twenty one how about that you know your favorite taverns are great place to listen to a football game one reason is that you can talk it over and enjoy it with friends the second reason is that you're right next to a hearty supply of Valentine beer on tap make no mistake about it a good ball game and Valentine go together like a line in the backfield that's because Valentine adds to your enjoyment of the game or the enjoyment of anything you do by refreshing you as nothing else can the reason for Valentine's clear risk for freshmen can be summed up in two words light and longer you see lightness and log of beer flavor are the two things a beer must have to refresh and mister Valentine beer gives you the best of both it's the light beer with true log of flavor that's what makes it the crisp refresher so right now make the famous three-ring sign and ask the man for Valentine one deep delicious swallow will tell you why folks have made today's Valentine the largest selling

high stepping out there there's a rough step out there now the first statistics the Giants completed nine passes out of 16 and the Browns 10 out of 21 the Giants had two intercepted down the Browns have one intercepted Giants punny twice for an average of 36 yards of Browns twice for an average of 29 the individual rushing leader for the Giants was meld tripleted seven times in the first half for total 72 yards longest game with a 46 yard one and for the Cleveland Browns Jimmy Brown here at four times for 22 yards they
had been concentrating on shaking plum loose rather a Mitchell loose and they succeeded of course he scored two touchdowns the individual receiving leaders in the past department Schnellaker called four for 80 yards and Mitchell called six for 180 yards and two touchdowns so those statistics give you an idea of what the Browns have been doing you have to watch both Mitchell and Brown but they have concentrated on Mitchell and they are getting him loose but of course Jimmy Brown always poses the threat and I've been interesting to watch now as the teams come up for the second half how they adjust their defenses and how the teams will of course figure on what the other teams may do by way of defense adjustment and change their pattern of attack we'd like to take this moment to salute a wonderful guy in Jim Lee Howell
and his last game as head coach of the Giants he was a great end as a player he took over as head coach in 1954 one 53 games lost 26 tied for one three divisional championships in 1956 58 59 one world title in 1956 he's one of the most wonderful guys I've ever met and his entire staff Ali Sherman hot and sparring at Goldman Ken Kavanaugh and Eurobus Deli and Jim Patton the last two player coaches of course make up a tremendous staff brilliant football minds Jim Lee Howell came on the Giants scene in 1937 as a gangling rookie and the Arkansas and succeeded Steve one Jim Lee Howell remain with the Giants as director of personnel the teams are coming back on the field
and in just a minute we'll be bringing you the second half kickoff they received a great football player who didn't practice a lot of course not takes two things talent and practice to make a good ball player it takes two things to make a great beer lightness is fine but lightness alone won't do it to really refresh a beer must have lightness plus flavor and that's your cue to ask the man for the crisp refresher Valentine beer with your very first swallow and in each swallow the ball of Valentine proves to more people every day that a beer can be light and still give you all the log of beer flavor you want fact is Valentine's the light beer with true log of flavor this delicious light log of flavors what makes Valentine bear the crisp refresher so if you drink beer for taste and refreshment then Mr. Valentine's the beer for you try it and see for yourself why Valentine is the most popular beer from Maine to Florida the largest selling beer in the East treat yourself to the crisp refresher right now okay
Virginia State College Band got to hand Virginia State College is one among several institutions of higher education established and promoted by the State of Virginia probably in 1882 as 1600 students our thanks to them for a wonderful halftime show the third-unfie Eagles lead the Washington Redskins 17 to 14 playing in the third period the St. Louis Cardinals lead the Pittsburgh Steelers 10 to 7 playing in the third period and the Detroit Lions still in the running for the honor of spot in the Western Conference leading the Chicago Bears 29 to nothing in the fourth period going into today's games both Baltimore San Francisco and Detroit are tied for the runner-up spot the winner of the game here the Giants and the Browns
will take possession of the runner-up spot and intend in the playoff bowl in Miami on January the 7th the Giants and Brown series began to 1950 and the Giants at one sixth rate from Paul Brown's great football team Giants leading 27 to 21 as we get ready for the second half Paul Brown to also as a general manager of the Browns is assisted by Paul Bixler Howard Brinker Dick and the Brits Highest by Eddie Yolinski and of course always one of the most exciting teams that one could ever want to watch we'll be ready in just a moment for the second half both teams are out
the bands leaving the field again for your late tuners in the Giants took a 14 nothing lead and the opening moments and then the Browns came back with a touchdown it was 14 to 7 Giants and in the second period the Browns went ahead after the Giants a kick two field goes to lead 20 to 14 Browns went ahead with a second touchdown in the second period the score to end the second period go ahead 21 20 and the Giants came back with a touchdown and so lead 27 to 21 as we get right down for the second half Don Hudson holds the record for most touchdown passes received in the season 17 wrote as a caught two today for total 10 for the season all right we're getting ready to go as we start the third period the Browns are
depending the gold to the left of the middle of your radio dial and the Giants depending the gold to the right the Browns will kick off sand Baker will boot it the Giants have bill stitch and fill kings the deep man with Melchup at up to 15 yard line Scott Crawford quarterly on Leo Scott Brown both you so help ahead of them we're all set to go now Sam Baker moves forward here is his kick it's a low line drive type kick bounces in there triplet takes it at the 11 up to 15 to the 20 to 25 and is down at the 30 yard line as you ran into a swarm of Browns Ross Fetner and Jim Marshall making the tackle and Jimmy Caleb the ball is spotted on the 29 first and 10 for the Giants on their 29 yard line triplet comes out Bill King is in Alex Webster is in and Joe Morrison Webster planks out to the left
and wrote goes wide to the right and against a five man line the two linebackers in the middle the handoff goes to Morrison can't find a hole there's the outside and is hit at about the line of scrimmage by Walt Michaels the right linebacker and Gail and fist the left linebacker Walt Michaels fought the interference off and unable to get this to come in and help him out and making the stop and they have spotted it on the 29 actually lost about a half yard but we'll call it second and 10 Houston gain feeders and Wiggin they fought for all the Browns who now are in a six to two linebacker strong on the right and parish is a left corner man and kindly on a trap gives to King but he's hit immediately and dropped on a 25 yard line void Peters the right tackle helped out by a middle linebacker Vince Costello and they seem to have read that play because in fact the defensive right
and a half back Jim Schoffer came racing racing up at the last second and they hit the ball carry and dropped him from the loss of the 25 so it's third and 14. John's leading 27 to 21. Schnellkurt the tight right end wrote wide to the left Webster also as a wide back to the left goes in motion and the ball has bumbled a marker thrown the Browns may have recovered at the 25 but the Browns were off side on the play in fact Vince Costello did bumble as kindly never did take the ball from the wide tech and Costello fell on it but the Browns were off side they jumped the gun he was the man off side actually Vince Costello the middle linebacker so it's third down and nine on the 30. John's in possession on 30 yard line third down and nine and this time Chuck
Connolly with the whole wide to the left and with Webster playing in between the left and the left tackle and the yard back going in motion there is a long pass thrown to Schnellkurt he's done it he's got it he's going to go he's to the 20 to the 10 to the 5 and over the left that's now the ball at about the 40 and went all the way cut it over down Fleming a 70 yard pass and run played with Connolly hitting Schnellkurt for the TD and now the triumph of the point by a Semeral it's three three to 21 John's Connolly spot the boot is up and it is good time out call on the field of play the score
the Giants 34 the Browns 21 that's Semeral ready to boot it with Brown and Mitchell deep Semeral kicks and it's
high and deep and Bobby Mitchell at the goal line comes back now up to the 10 beers off he's the 15 goes to the side and gets away from one two man Keterbugs back and is finally dropped down at about the 25 yard line now that man can move he was tackled finally by Dick Lynch Mitchell was shaking up on the plate there's a man can go at top speed and literally stop on the proverbial time stop and go beautiful change your face change the direction a great broken feel runner Mitchell stays in balls on the 24 yard line Browns ball first and 10 Giants leading 34 to 21 Lions lead the Bears now 36 to nothing playing in the fourth period Browns come out of the level with run for wide to the right and Franklin wide to the left milk pump fades back fades a lot of time
throws run pro has it he's tackled at midfield by Lee Riley boy at all data throw a wonderful pocket back there as the Giants tried to rush him but they couldn't get to him at all day to throw the balls on the 41 17 yard game Browns in their own 41 yard line plum has done a great job of past throwing here today Renfrow comes out wide to the right Franklin wide to the left Mitchell running from left half plum with the ball fades back looking for Mitchell they're rushing put on the passes thrown and it is incomplete intended for record midfield almost intercepted by Lyndon Cole who gambled on moving in front of the receiver trying to get the ball but succeeded only into flicking it actually he had gone down deep and he had to come back to try and get the ball this time the Giants really put the pressure on plum Tom Scott Dick Mojolowski
Rosie Greer and Andy Robustelli the front four what we call the pro four with Livingston Huff and Sparrow the linebackers and they leave the jump in or stay back it is second and ten for the Browns in their own 41 Renfrow wide to the right Franklin wide to the left Niggler tight left end and the ball now is kept by Pumming being rushed he's grabby gets out of the pocket he throws along one over thrown in complete and he was rushed hard Gern Niggler was nearest the ball but actually Lyndon closed back there with him both were over throwing a flash pen on by Scott Mojolowski but Pum still danced away found to the first side of the field and threw back to the near side so it is third and ten coming up for the Browns on their own 41 the Giants leading 34 to 21 for the 11 minutes and 34 seconds of playing time still remaining in the third period Renfrow comes off wide to the right Franklin wide to the left Niggler is the left end
Franklin drops off as a back Pum fades throws a quick look in past a Mitchell he stops and twists and turns and he is finally swarmed on as he gets up to the midfield strike about the 48 yard line with Harlan Sparrow and Sam Huff making the tackle all three backs other than Plum of course and two hands went down is the same pattern they'd used before it is sent five man down two hands and three backs and Mitchell was the short man and they used that degraded manage before so it is put down and four for the ball on the 46 yard line and they shift into putt formation Baker and dropping back to his 30 and with Stits and Riley in a double safety for the Giants putting the snap from center here it is and Baker gets off a nice high boot down to the 20 yard line fair cat signal for by Lee Riley at the 20 and the Giants take over first and 10 on their
20 yard line by the 60 yard kick from the point of contact 39 from the line of squirmage and the crowd yelling go go go Giants leading 34 to 21 in this third period 10 minutes yet to go Charlie Connelly sends rope to the right end Webster blanks to the left and Snilkers a tight left end against the six man line the ball is given now to Bill King he finds a hole right hard to make the field still going and there he goes across the midfield strike into Cleveland Territory with Bobby Prankham finally making a tackle and it was a pushing tackle Ray White tech and Jack Stroud leading the down field blocking on this first from the 20 to the 50 a 30 yard run by Bill King first and 10 for the Giants
at midfield Snilkers put right in wrote wide to the left and Webster is a flanking back left in motion takes a pitch following blocking goes to the outside Lance Dives hard gets yardage down to about the 40 yard line and the bounds recover Alex Webster a fumbled as he moved wide and cut back to the 40 yard line and Bob Gain recovered the fumbled and so the bounds stop this giant drive and take over on their own 40 Bernie parish had fought off the interference made the tackle shook the ball loose and gain recovered so now it's Brown's ball first and 10 on their own 40 run for wide to the right right wing wide to the left plum with the ball takes back to pass throws and completes it to Jimmy Brown and down he goes as he crossed the midfield strike into giant territory with Sam Huff there tripping him up and it is a first down for
the bounds as they pass to Jimmy Brown that time going at full speed first and 10 for the bounds on the giant 49 yard line Giants leading 34 to 21 with 8 minutes and 45 seconds of playing time left in the third period these pass patterns are really bewildering Renfro wide to the right right wing a tight left end Nager tight right end Mitchell at left hand Brown at full and milk plum fade straight back and a down and out pattern to Renfro he is deep out there and overthrown at the 15 yard line he had gotten in behind London Cole Lee Riley came racing over to try to help out but Renfro had eluded him the pass was overthrown it is second and 10 for the bounds on the giant 49 milk plum has been filling the air with passes Giants out in front 34 to 21
with the there's a marker I believe on the play holding penalty against the Giants automatic first down for the bounds on the 44 yard line Renfro comes out wide to the right right wing a tight left end Nager tight right end the ball is given to Brown on a slant he drives hard gets to the 41 yard line the bow back sliding off the right side of the giant line trying to go over Dick Mareth and Jim Ray Smith left tackle and left guard stopped by Dick Maudelowski Rosie Greer left tackle right tackle the two interior lineman and the right line back a hard on swerve second down and seven the ball on the giant 41 eight minutes to go in the third period Giants 34 Brown's 21 and
will watch milk plum who has developed into quite a guy former collegiate collegiate Penn State in his fourth year now since Renfro wide to the right the two ends in tight Mitchell at left half one with the ball fades back he's looking for in for close deep and it is incomplete at the 15 Gern Nager reached out to the ball as Nager and Renfro both went down and a pattern that had them fairly close together at the 15 yard line with Lee Riley and Lyndon Cove seeking to defend against the past that was just a little bit overthrown Nager actually trailed Renfro but they were just about five yards apart so it is now third down coming up and seven to go for the Brown's on the giant 41 seven and a half minutes to go in the third period the Giants leading 34 to 21 again Renfro wide to the right right wing wide to the left milk plum fades back
throws and complete Mitchell helped it at the 35 he had fake island survive out of position he played the right cut inside of him had the ball at the 35 they tried to go with it too quickly and took his out of the ball and dropped it and he would have gone he had a wide open field and so it's fourth and seven coming up once again they sent Mendy Pan Mitchell short but he simply just dropped it so now with a fourth down seven situation sand bakers end to kick nothing to try field goal it will be a 48 yard effort Franklin holding here's the kick it's up and it's going to be short and Riley takes it the goal line he's running comes out to the 10 of the 15 of the 20 down he goes on a whopping tackle at the 21 yard line Lloyd Peters and Paul Wiggins collaborate on the tackle and Sam Huppets in the middle of
down near Mela had didn't develop the officials move in very quickly I'd hate it to be on the receiving end of that tackle the balls on the 22 first and 10 for the Giants on their 22 Lloyd Peters weighs 250 and Paul Wiggins 240 so it's 490 pounds it hit Riley all right we got wrote wide to the right and Charlie Connolly gives the ball to Phil King tried to buck up the middle but he only got a yard the hole that was supposed to bend there was quickly closed the Floyd Peters and Walt Michaels the right linebacker helping out the right tackle and middle linebacker Vince Costello also moved in so it is second and nine for the Giants the ball there 23 Connolly has Webster King and Morrison King running in triplets place Morrison flanks out wide to the right wrote comes to left in snooker to right in Connolly
now fades back to being rushed throws a screen pass to Webster who drives down to the 28 yard line Alex Webster took the screen pass went to about the 28 yard line Walt Michaels and Vince Costello making the stop Charlie trying to pick up a large yardage as they allowed the line man and threw over their heads on the screen pass to the 28 to gain a five yards third and four now settings in for Webster at left half third and four for the Giants on the 28 Morrison flanks out to the right snoker and wrote tight ends wrote left snoker right against a six man line Connolly fades to pass down it out to Schelker he's got it at the 35 down the sideline out of bounds at about the 40 and a pile up over near the Brown bench as Bernie Paris wrote him hard out of bounds with the help of Don Fleming down and out pass to Schelker gives the Giants a first down at the 39 yard line 11 yard gain Webster back in for
Sutton five minutes and 49 seconds left to go in the third period the Giants leading 34 to 21 Houston and Wigan the two defensive ends have been pressuring Connolly very hard all day wrote those wide to the right Webster flanks wide to the left snoker tight left M five man line three line back as strong on the left side the put a rush on and there is a past a king but he is trapped at the 35 falls for perhaps the 36 or seven Vince Costello making the tackle once again the screen pass called by Connolly but the Browns instead of putting a full rush on loud the ends only to go in and they dropped off and stopped the play at the 38 yard line for a loss of a yard at second eleven Jim Houston is playing a tremendous game at left end wrote those wide out to the right this time Schelker a tight left and then Webster flanks to the left
against a six man line one line backer in the center on a big draw a swing pass out to Morrison's doubles but goes down the sideline of the 38 and 9 yard line he is hit by a record is known perhaps roughness we'll see he had gotten up to about the 40 but done plumbing helping out Costello Costello had made the tackle Fleming came racing in and built it into them and drove Morrison back to the 35 the forward progress is allowed but we'll see no marker I'd rather no indication of penalty now the penalties being stepped off 15 yards against the Browns and a first down for the Giants first illegal use of the hands and the balls on the 49 yard line of the Browns set and goes in for Webster at left hand back that time that had
Houston drive in and through Obring first and 10 for the Giants on the Browns 49 set and blanks out to the left against a five man line the ball is given a bill king a quick burst up the middle for about three four yards perhaps the 45 yard line and it is second down and six at the 45 yard line the tackle made by Bob Gain and Vince Costello Alex Webster now goes back in and place of Ed Sutton it is 34 to 21 in favor of the Giants when the third period four minutes and 30 seconds of playing time remaining what Michael's caused defensive signals for the Browns and now we have the Giants with Morrison wide to the right and wrote in tight and left in Alex Webster at the left half and the ball is given to Webster on the slam up the middle for the several yards and maybe to a first down is close to the 40 yard line
Luke Porto Leon the left guard let him through his Bob Gain made the tackle helped out by the left linebacker Galen Fiss Webster is coming out now and Ed Sutton goes into replacing as a timeout as they spot the ball down it is where they spot it you're going to measure to see whether or not a first down was picked up the crew goes out Harry Boobaker stretches the chain and the Giants I believe are just short of a first down by a little bit brings the ball back into the hash marks to measure once again the Giants are short of a first down just by inches so it's third down and less than a yard to go at about the 40 now we've got Ed Sutton at left half back Phil King at full and I flank her wide to the
right and now Charlie Connolly gives the ball to Sutton who dies for the first down he took the ball and leaped over the line with Bob Gain and Vince Costello pinning him down Bill King diving for the first down on the 37 yard line first and 10 on the 37 now Giants leading 34 to 21 the three minutes and 20 seconds of playing time remaining in the third period Sutton comes wide to the left rope goes wide to the right snoker tight left in Charlie Connolly looking at the defense gives the ball off now to his right half back and a fumble and recovered by the Giants I believe we'll pick up the man who recovered the fumble the tackle is made by Floyd Peters and Galen Fiss as Joe Morrison fumbled the ball and it was Luke Cordley on who recovered the fumble at about
the 38 yard line a loss of a yard so it'll be second and 11 Alex Webster back in for Ed Sutton at left half they keep shuddling in and out Giants leading 34 to 21 with Juno Auffin is to go in the third period wrote wide to the left and Morrison is wide to the right snoker the right end Connolly gets the five man line passes out to snoker at the sideline and he's written out of bounds at about the 31 yard line Bernie Parish the defensive left half back pushing him out of bounds at the 31 down him out past to tall Bob Snoker the 15 pound six foot five and from bowling grain enjoying a fine year and his eighth season in the pro ranks it'll be third down coming up with about three to go Ed Sutton replaces Alex Webster at the left half back
spot Bill King is still hanging there at full triplet apparently it was hurt wrote now goes wide to the right and Sutton wide to left snoker is playing a left end Charlie Connolly makes fades throws a pass in complete it was intended a swing pass for Morrison but he was overthrown with Walt Michaels and Jim Schoffner over there protecting against Morrison so it'll be fourth down coming up in three to go and that's somewhere all goes in and the Giants apparently will Gi a field goal with two minutes and 15 seconds left in the third period and the Giants leading 34 to 21 it'll be a 39 yard effort here's the kick it's blocked and bounces off the hands of a defender is taken on the goal line by Bernie Parish he comes to the 10th of the 15th is up the sideline
only round of bounds or not there's a signal that he has he's giving up toward midfield he laterals about and laterals it to Amanda's down on the 43 yard line and it was Vince Costello the man to whom he handled and the tackle was made by Pat Semmerall so a beautiful run back with Bernie Parish and the ball now is back up toward midfield on the 47 yard line after that field goal attempt the beautiful run back in the lateral and the bounds have the ball first and 10 on their own 47 30 40 21 paper the Giants a minute and 40 seconds left and late third period run for a wide to the right along with the ball fades to throw passes completes it's in the air bad interception at midfield he's going down the sideline and out of bounds at about the 45 yard line the ball hit Brown bounced out of bounds hands in the air Sam
Huff intercepted at the 45 of the Giants and ran it back into Brown territory to about the Brown's 45 yard line make it the 44 yard line Sam Huff intercepting the ball it bounced out of the arms of low bank Jimmy Brown the tackle my Mike McCormick and Gern Negler first and 10 for the Giants now on the Brown's 44 with a minute and 20 seconds to go in the third period 34 21 New York Schnellker tight right hand road a wide left end Webster Clank's left Charlie currently barking his signal and gives it to King on the slant for our yardage to the 40 upended by Vince Costello and Galen Fiss second down and six and this game now is really developing into a rugged struggle they are really belting in there now as the seconds began to tick off ending the third period 48
seconds 47 46 and so on 34 21 in favor of the Giants it is second down ball on the about the 40 second and about six and now we'll watch with a wide end and a flanker to the other side kindly fades he's got throws and it is incomplete in technical Webster our butter is on the throat toward road who'd gone down and out in Webster did a crossover down the middle and Schnellker down and out patterned to the left and so it is third down coming up and the clock is stopped 25 seconds left in the third period with a Giants leading 34 to 21 and finally I am the huddle as Alex Webster running at left half Bill King at full in Joe Morrison right half we would have to suppose that Tripit was shaken up he has not been in there in quite a while and he goes well against the
bounds wrote those wide to the right Webster Clank's to the left Schnellker at left end at big Gaugh and a swing pass incomplete and tenant from Morrison out to the right and that sets it up now with a punting situation or possibly a field goal ever to see somewhere all is going in and this one will be it's seen as we try to spot the ball it'll be a 50 yard field goal attempt actually a 51 yard field goal attempt there's the kick it is up and it is going to be short and is taken by parish on the three and he's coming back up to the 10 of the 15 and down not about the 15 yard line by Don Bowle and the gun sounds and there's the end of the third quarter with a score the Giants 34 and the

giant's leading the Browns 34 to 21 for the runner-up spot in the Eastern Division Conference and the birth and the playoff bowl it is first in 10 for the Browns the ball on their 16-yard line milk pump with Bobby Mitchell Jimmy Brown and Ray Renpro has critling and Megler at the end shaftwrap the McCormick the tackle Smith and Hickerson the guards and Murrow at center and now apprentice got in there for Mitchell it left half a flanker wide to the right one of the ball fades to throw and throws to the sideline and hits critling is upended on the 20 on a vicious tackle by Dick Lynch they sent two men at Lynch one was predispot and the other was rich critling and they threw to the short man critling and he's upended on the 20-yard line so it is second down and six for the four-yard gain on the play the
giants have their defensive unit Scott Mozaleski Greer and Robo Stelly up front Livingston Huff and Spire the linebackers Crow and Lynch at the hands and Nolan and Patten at the safety spots Renpro wide to the right Mitchell goes back in now one with the ball fires his pastor in full he's hit and dropped at the 33-yard line by Lyndon Cole as the Browns pick up a first down on a look in pass to Ray Renpro the wide flanker right who crossed over and took the pass on the run and it is a first down for the Browns at the 34-yard line of the Browns the Giants leading 34 to 21 they paid attendance to day 56,517 all right a flanker right an end split left and milk pump on a draw gives the brownies up the middle hurting hard and he is finally downed as he crossed midfield into giant territory at about the 44-yard line a 22-yard burst up the
middle by Jimmy Brown who can really go tackled by Jimmy Patten and Lyndon Cole first in ten for the Browns on the giant 44 one fades to pass throws and completes it to Mitchell and he's down at about the 37-yard line as he cupped the ball he was hit by Rosie Grere so their Browns are on the move they're now on the 37-yard line the game seven-yard second and three 12 minutes and 40 seconds left in the game and the Giants lead 34 to 21 and at this point as the Browns move up for their next play I think the Giants call for a time out by the way the Orange and Cotton Bowl games will be
broadcast on January 2nd on the CBS radio networks of be sure to tune in for these great games Navy and Missouri and Arkansas and Duke elsewhere the Eagles lead the Redskins 24 to 21 playing in the fourth period the Cardinals lead the Steelers 24 to 7 playing in the fourth period the Detroit Lions belted the Chicago Bears 36 to nothing ensuring a possible playoff bowl birth three teams are tied for the number two spot but if they remain in a tie the team with the highest total of points on her stand will get the spot rather than to have a playoff or the runner up spot Green Bay and Philadelphia have already won their divisional titles the coach and 49er game of course is being played out in San Francisco the Giants leading here 34 to 21 for any late tuners in the Giants lead 14 to 7th end of the first period in the second
period the Brown scored two touchdowns the Giants two field goals that touched down the Giants lead 27 to 21 Giants scored in the third period and we're in the fourth period now Giants leading 34 to 21 the Browns have the ball second down and about three to go on the Giants 37-yard line Ray Rennpro goes out wide to the right Mitchell running from left half back and Brown shifts over to a right half back spot plum with the ball fades plenty of time throws deep and Rennpro out there did not get it incomplete a beautiful saved by Dick Linch who dove over him and knocked the ball down or have a Jimmy Patton he almost intercepted it appeared to the friend throw had it and Patton dove and almost intercepted that the sideline so it has third down coming up the guard shuttle in and out as Paul Brown sends in the plays the clock is stopped 12 and a half minutes yet to go in the game Giants leading 34 to 21 third down coming up
a little better than three yards to go for the first down now we'll see what the ball Brown is sending he's running Mitchell from right half back this time and Brown from fullback a tight right end of flanker left and milk plum fades straight back Franklin goes down and over and if we don't rush the pass is incomplete it was intended for possibly Ray Rennpro who cut over the middle Franklin has gone deep Dick Mojolesky put a big rush on plum Mitchell had gone down and out and Rennpro down and then and Franklin to the left side went straight down and so it is fourth down coming up and Paul Brown now has sent him a play as the Brown's trail 34 to 21 fourth down and a little better than three yards to go for a first down they got to keep the ball they got to go for it Rennpro wide to the right Franklin wide to the left Mitchell running from left half and milk plum fade straight back and bears the balls are brown down
the middle he's got it and he's gone he's gonna go all the way he's in there for a touchdown Jimmy Brown took the pass down the middle and went all the way going 37 yards for the score and it is now 34 to 27 as they paid off of the pass of the full bank down the middle he cut the ball and about the 25 and he couldn't stop him he got up ahead of steam now Franklin will hold and Sam Baker will try the point waiting to snap from center here it is and the kick is up and it is good and so that makes the score now the Giants 34 the Brown's 28 with 12 minutes and 20 seconds of playing time remaining in the ball game 62 points scored in this game if we could buy an extra hour of time we'd recap the game
in detail then now the Brown's will kick off to the Giants and one of the most exciting games played here in a long long while Sam Baker will boot it and the deep men trippled by the way has gone back in Bill Stits and Phil King at the goal line and Sam Baker getting ready to boot it so the Brown's had a fourth down situation coming up went for it and went all the way for the TD 34 to 28 the Giants have strapped corporate quarterly on Leo and Scott up front right behind them Brown Bowling you saw trippled it about the 15 and at the goal line Bill King and Bill Stits all right Sam Baker runs forward and his kick is high and deep and Bill King takes it in the end and hits the goal post and becomes an
automatic touchback King was ready to receive in the ball hit the goal post so the Giants will take it on the 20 so with 12 minutes and 16 seconds left the Giants have got to hold on to the ball and of course the Brown's want to get hold of it now Morrison comes out wide to the right snelker is the tight right hand wrote wide to the left and Charlie Connolly fades back the throw throws out to snelker at the 25 he spins and drives and is out of bounds at about the 30 yard line with Galen Fiss and running him out after he does fun away from Don Fleming Galen Fiss was over Giants pick up the first down at the 31 yard line Charlie Connolly throwing that pass deep in his own territory 12 minutes left in
the game Morrison comes out wide to the right road wide to the left snelker playing right in and Connolly again fades to throw and he passes batted down as he attempted to throw it a wrote Cleveland line when rushing in and it was Floyd Peters who put the rush on reached up and deflected the ball and Bob Gaines also in there the two interior lineman so it is second and ten Giants in possession there 31 that's a dangerous situation ball bat up near like that and so the Cleveland Browns now putting all their hopes on Houston Gaines Peter's and Wiggen and Fiss and Castello and Michael's and Parrish and Schofner and Fleming and Franklin as Charlie Connolly tries to keep that ball wrote wide off the left they got two men on him and Morrison wide the other way they pitch chowder to Webster trying to go wide to the left following Rosie Brown and Luke quarterly on he went laterally for about ten yards but for the only got
short yardage he was tackled about Bobby Franklin and Floyd Peters Bobby Franklin was shaken up on the plate Dick Mustardo comes into replacing that the right safety spot it's third down and seven three yards gained on the plate Giants 34 Browns 28 11 minutes to go in the game Morrison planks out to the right wrote spits to the left a six man line rushing Connolly and Connolly can't the Bumble or throw how do they rule it they rule a Bumble yes they do they rule it a Bumble and recovered by Walt Michaels as Connolly cocked his arm but they ruled it a Bumble and it is recovered by the Browns deep and giant territory on the giant 35 yard line Peters and Wiggen putting on a terrific rush and now the picture has changed where the Browns in possession
first in ten on the giant 34 34 to 28 and favor the Giants and now the Browns come out with Franklin wide to the left run for a wide to the right and milk plum takes the ball they gives the Brown on a draw Brown fights his way gets away from great four man and drives on for yards down to the 20 livingston and Lee Riley finally brought him down Jimmy Brown seemed to be capped up the line of scrimmage before his legs of his working like distance he cared on for more yardage and Jim Ray Smith the left guard helped lead him through let's see where they spot the ball down at about the 22 yard line first down for the Browns on the 22 when pro goes out wide to the right Franklin a tight left in mega tight right end and milk plum comes back now let's from end to throw to down and out he's got the sideline Gern Nigger out of bounds in about the 15 as the Browns drive
with Lee Riley helping push Nigger out of bounds they're down at the 15 yard line all Browns sitting in a plate ten minutes left in the game and the Browns who started out behind caught up one ahead and fell back behind if come on here now and have recovered the bumble and in position to go ahead second down on about two Franklin wide to the left and run for a wide to the right and milk plum gives the ball to Brown a big hole he drives down to about the 10 yard line Rosie Greer and Cliff Livingston make the tackle but now they're running Jimmy Brown those first up the middle on the trep plays with Jim Ray Smith and Johnny Marle the left guard in the center leading the surge in the offensive blocking on the line and it's a first down for the Browns goal the goal and the ball is now on the eight yard line nine and a half and a goal the
ball on the eight and the giant defensive sorely pressed now and milk plum with the ball fades and he's got Franklin a look in the ball bounces off of his chest at the goal line Franklin who had lined up wide left ran a look in pattern down and over the center ball hit him in the chest and bounced out and fell to the ground and so it is second down coming up the ball on the giant eight yard line giant leading 34 to 28 a touchdown here of course in a point will put the Browns ahead now they send Rindpro wide to the right right and the ball goes to the left with Mitchell and Brown in behind Plum and Plum with the ball fades he looks from in the throat to does and he's over thrown Mitchell in the end zone and so it's third down coming up in eight he sent Bobby Mitchell deep into the end zone but Plum overthrew him Negler had gone to the right and Plum to the left and Dick Lynch was over there
to try and defend against Rindpro and so third and eight coming up and the guard chattel in and out all Browns sending in a play nine minutes and 21 seconds left in the game and the Browns behind six points and go ahead with a touchdown in the extra points 34 to 28 New York Rindpro up to the right wide to the right Megler right in and Franklin wide to the left and Mitchell and Brown in behind Plum Plum gets the ball fades back to throw and you've got all day now he's gonna run he throws and the passes intercepted by Lyndon Cole in the end zone Lyndon Cole intercepts in the end zone and it's the giant ball in a crayon line Rindpro is the intended receiver but Lyndon Cole leaped and grabbed the ball in front of him the end zone to stop this touchdown bit of the Browns and the Giants take over an automatic touchback as Lyndon Cole from USC in his six year in Pro Ball saved
the day there and it's Giants ball first and 10 they bring it off to the 20 automatic touchback nine minutes and 13 seconds left and Charlie Connelly now sends rope wide to the left and Morrison wide to the right and Connelly page throws a pass it's been in the air and it's a touchdown has Paul Lincoln grabbed the ball on a pass into the flat and goes in for the touchdown Paul Lincoln the right and has Connelly threw a pass into the flat the big right and reached up intercepted the ball and went for the touchdown and the Browns now have tied the score and the game has suddenly switched has Connelly threw into the flat and Paul Lincoln intercepted and raised for the touchdown he intercepted the ball at about the 15 and went on for the score and it's 34 to 34 and so they tried for the extra point now with Sam Baker that put the rounds ahead 35 to 34 Bobby Franklin holding awaiting the snap from center here it
is the spot the boot it's up and it is good and the rounds have done that in front 35 to 34 how about that? Lyndon Crow saved the Giants with a great pass interception sees his efforts nullified when Connelly's pass into the flat to a half back it's sudden intercepted by right and Paul Wigan or Alex Webster was and Wigan went on for the touchdown and so the Browns with 14 points here in the fourth period now late 35 to 34 69 points scored in this game and nine minutes and eight seconds left it was Paul Wigan from Stanford in his fourth year a six foot pre-tour and 40 pound right end who charged on a storm from right end raised up back at the ball in the air recovered it and went on for the TD now Baker runs forward he boots it deep and Stits will take it at the two he's coming forward running up about the 10 goes to the outside still running hard and is written
down on the first side of the field at about the 30 yard line by AD Williams who has gone in for the Browns Bill Crawford threw a nice block in there and now with the clock moving in eight minutes and 50 some odd seconds 56 seconds left in the game it is the Giants ball on their own 34 yard line the Browns lead 35 to 34 Morrison out wide to the right and wrote to the left and triplet is back in at fullback and against a six to Chuck Connelly calling his plate made throws a pass at his incomplete intended for wrote at the 45 yard line of the Browns Jim Schoffer defending wrote ran a down and in pattern trying to move that ball quickly downfield open get within field goal kicking range of nothing else and so it is second down coming up and 10 to go for the Giants in their own 34 the Cleveland Browns have fought from behind and lead
35 to 34 with eight minutes and 33 seconds left in the game and now it is third it is now a second down coming up and 10 to go ball on the Giants 34 wrote comes out wide to the right this time and a Webster blanks left Connelly fades and throws a screen pass to Morrison trying to find running room he does and comes up field to about midfield and down he goes at the midfield strike but Jim Schoffer and Vince Costello making the tackle a rush put on by Jim Houston but a screen pass to Morrison sends the ball up to midfield but Connelly was hurt on the play he's down back at the 30 yard line and a time out here for the Giants Chuck Connelly shaken up as this rush was put on Giants have moved the ball to midfield for a first down and the clock is stopped with eight minutes and 16 seconds of playing time left the Giants trainers have gone out
along with Doc Sweeney Leo Murphy and his group are rather out let's check see now George Shaw warming up on the sideline and of course this is a tough spot you don't ever like say anyone get hurt on either side but the tough spot for the Giants and losing a guy like Connelly they fought like this in the game Johnny Johnson sit Moretta and John Ziegle the trainers out there and Connelly is being helped off the field is walking off of being helped off and George Shaw will go into replacing the Eagles 38 the skins 21 in the fourth period Cardinals 24 stealer seven in
the fourth period and the lands beat the Bears 36 to nothing Baltimore San Francisco on a report is yet the Browns lead the Giants 35 to 34 where the eight minutes and 16 seconds left in the game and the Giants have a first down at midfield but Connelly has been hurt and now there goes George Shaw into replace Connelly Charlie Sherman and Jim Lee how old were talking to him first and 10 for the Giants at midfield eight minutes and 16 seconds left Morrison comes out wide to the right and wrote wide to the left snelker tight right end and with Webster and trippin against a four four defense Shaw with the ball passes and it's not down at the 40 yard line by Bobby Franklin it was intended for Kyle Road I got a quickie so it is second down in
10 wide Peters putting a rush on George Shaw there was a marker thrown the Giants were off side but the Browns refused it they want to cost they want to refuse the penalty to cost the Giants the down Cleveland leading 35 to 34 in the fourth period eight minutes and 13 seconds left Morrison comes out wide to the right and wrote out to the left with Webster and trippin in behind Shaw against a four four putting quite a rush now on Shaw he slips fires a pass and it's incomplete intended for Morrison at the 36 yard line they fired it low Bernie parish was over to defend and Lee Gross Cup now is warming up on the sideline but it is third and 10 the Giants
still need the big yardage they trailed 35 to 34 Lee Gross Cup warming up on the sideline George Shaw with a Browns putting on quite a rush calling his play and he may take too much time now they come out of the huddle rope comes out wide to the right and Morrison also on the same side and they're going to put on a big rush on Shaw they got about a nine man front up there the secondary M tight and there goes the rush and Shaw fades and he throws and Roke can't get it he threw the root at the 30 yard line just off his hand and down goes Shaw as big uh... boyd Peters banged into him and saw his fourth down coming up as George Shaw went in in place of the injured Charlie Connolly and tried three passes that failed to connect and so with eight minutes and six seconds left the punting unit goes in down Chandler drops back to his own 40 Mitchell and shopper the two
deep men for the Browns they snap from center and there is Chandler trying to run for it but he is down Chandler tried to fake the punting run but their Browns wouldn't be suckered in and they have to give up the law as Chandler started to run for it and was dropped on the 45 yard line by Dave Lloyd so once before this year Chandler pulled a fake kick against Washington and ran for the first down but he delayed too long there he seemed to hesitate and then he started running for it and gave a deepence time to cover him and so it's the Browns ball first and ten on the Giants 45 they give the ball to Jimmy Brown he boats up the middle he gets away from one and two men and down he goes at the 25 yard line tackled by Jimmy Patton where they nice block thrown by Johnny
Marl and Jimmy Brown boating up the middle moves that ball deep in the Giants territory down to the 25 yard line first and ten Browns leading 35 to 34 seven minutes left in the game where the plank are right and then wide to the left and the plumb of the ball again the gives it to Brown but this time he has caught and doesn't go anywhere with Rosie Greer and Dick Moe Tolesky the two interior line when grabbing him and stopping him six minutes and 40 seconds left in the game Lee Gross Cup warming up on the sideline but the Browns are out in front 35 to 34 in possession seeking to hold on to it and go for another TD to wrap it up you're to keep the Giants in any case I'm getting hold of the ball
Brown running from right half back in Mitchell from left half plum takes a draw close to Mitchell he gets a block has Barker's in front of him down the sideline and hooked hits him and drives him out short of the 10 yard line about the 11 with Jim Ray Smith throwing a key block downfield so they passed the Mitchell and he moves down the sideline and he moves to about the 11 yard line with six minutes and 13 seconds left as he was run out of bounds now they guards moving and out looking coming in for Hickerson Cleveland 35 New York 34 Ray Rennfrog goes out wide to the right critling a tight left end regular tight right end Mitchell at left half and Brown at full milk plum looking over the defense gives the ball off to Jimmy Brown he's got a whole thing thrown down and over for a touchdown Jimmy Brown goes for the touchdown far he is hard to stop he had a hole there and he carried man with him and
moved in for the touchdown and Cleveland has 41 points he followed Johnny Marrow through and went for the touchdown Jimmy Brown putting on another simulating running display here today and out the triumph of the point as the Browns have moved 45 yards for this touchdown Franklin holding the snap from center of the spot the kick by Baker up and it is good and the Browns lead by score a 42 to 34 with six minutes and nine seconds left in the game they've scored 21 points here in the fourth quarter with two touchdowns coming as result of an interception deep and giant territory by defensive and Paul Wigan and then an attempted fake putt that failed to pick up the first down and gave them the ball and giant territory before the next kickoff may we remind you to be sure to listen to the broadcast of the orange and cotton bowl game January second on the CBS radio network for the six minutes and nine seconds left and a
game that has seen seven the six point scored the Browns will kick off to the Giants Sam Baker will boot it with Bill King and Bill Stitz deep 42 to 34 in favor of Cleveland there goes Baker for it he's kicked it it goes to tripp it bounces off of him and the Giants ball on the ball Rosie Brown at about the 22 or three yard line the ball a line drive type kick hit tripple in the chest bounded away from him and was recovered on the 22 now league gross cup goes in a quarterback for the Giants the bounds lead 42 to 34 league gross cup in that quarterback Johnny Cotter Ali Connolly having been shaken up Kyle wrote comes out wide to the right shelter wide to the left Marson Flanks right and league gross cup fades back throws a pass in tenor for road but it is overthrown
over at about the midfield stripe with Bernie Parrish and Don Fleming going over cover against growth again pressure put on by Jim Houston second and ten for the Giants the ball on the wrong 22 five and a half minutes left in the game trippled out and he will be replaced by Bill King Cleveland 42 the Giants 34 wrote comes out wide to the right and Schnellker goes out to the left Webster flanks out to the right Marson wide here is gross cup of the ball being rushed the ball is bad in the air is grabbed by Bob Gain and he goes in for a touchdown and the Browns have scored twenty seven points in this fourth quarter as we were talking
a little while ago they once scored twenty eight here and they got a chance to do it again Bob Gain reached up and grabbed that pass the league gross cup attempted to throw short and the tackle grabbed it and now the tie for the point with Baker trying the point Franklin will hold snap from center and the ball is bumbled and Baker chases it and the Browns cannot get the extra point as Huff tackles the brownie who finally came up for the ball the snap from center was bumbled and it was Galen Fissu finally recovered it and Huff wrote him down so the score remains Browns 48 and they Giants 34 as they Browns have scored twenty seven points here in the fourth quarter to on interceptions by defensive men rushing the passer and one on a fake punt and run that failed again the
necessary first down yardage giving them the ball on the giant forty five and Jimmy Brown led the drive to carry them in for the touchdown so it's forty eight to thirty four and now Sam Baker will boot it and Bill Stitz and Bill King are the two deep perceiving men Baker and then there yet now wait a minute here he comes 82 points scored in this game and nineteen fifty three Browns meet the Giants 62 to 14 here now is Baker moving forward and his kick goes down to Bill Stitz at about the five he comes back up to the 10 to the 15 goes wide and is down at about the twenty five yard line AD Williams making the tackle
and Jim Ray Smith the Giants have the ball as they spun it down on their own 31 yard line with five minutes and fifteen seconds left in the game and the Browns out in front forty eight to thirty four having lost six straight games to the Giants the Browns came out to be with a vengeance and have scored twenty seven points in the fourth quarter Lee Gross Cup in a quarterback fades back to throw he is cut back there and has to hold on to the ball and is chased all the way back to about the fifteen yard line Jim Houston and Bob Gain going on the pressure Lee Gross Cup has forced back down to the fifteen yard line lost sixteen yards on the plate a second and twenty six now Don Bowle is in it right tackle and Bill Crawford left guard for the Giants it is second down and twenty six the ball on the fifteen yard
line four minutes and forty five seconds left in the game Cleveland leading forty eight to thirty four and a real wild one Kyle wrote wide to the left and Morrison wide to the right and Gross Cup awaiting the ball takes it comes straight back to the marker throw and Gross Cup fires down field and it is in the incomplete intended for snelker but it was incomplete the fell of the ground as a marker thrown and I believe a penalties against the Giants back illegally in motion clock is stopped the point of half minutes to go they penalties declined by the Browns they cost the Giants the down so it is third and twenty six for the Giants on their fifteen yard line Morrison comes out wide to the right road out to the left snelker at right end in tight Lee Gross Cup with final rush being
put on him fades back now throws deep and tended for Morrison and it is incomplete knocked down by Galen Fiss and so it is forth down coming up and the funding unit goes in for the Giants so the injury to Charlie Connolly neither Sean or Gross Cup have been able to pick up the Giants and it has been the Browns defense that has carried on really to victory here if they maintain this lead and it seems they will with four minutes and twenty four seconds left as they have scored twenty seven points in the fourth period and lead forty eight to thirty four on the goal line stands on channel the snap from center here's the kick it gets it up high and going down the midfield to shopper shopper running laterally and back is finally downed on the forty yard line tackled by Jimmy Leo and Bill Crawford and Simms so the Browns have the ball now in the forty yard line first and ten for the
Browns on the forty and most points ever scored in a national professional football league game by both teams and ninety eight with that eighty two in this one all right the Browns ready to move and Milton Plum makes a handoff to Brown and the ball is followed by think the Plum recovered Tom Scott charged in along with Dick Moetzalesky they lost yardage to the thirty seven year of line the Chicago Cardinals beat the giant sixty three to thirty five in nineteen forty eight and in nineteen fifty lost and just beat ball of more seventy to twenty seven leaving leading forty eight to thirty four with three minutes and fifteen seconds left in this game second and eleven for the ball on the thirty eight yard line
Milton Plum for the banking back and split and pitches out the Bobby Mitchell Mitchell goes to the outside and is downed at the forty yard line by Lyndon Cole two minutes and fifty four seconds and time is running out here and a final game of the year at the Ankey Stadium the Cleveland Browns out in front forty eight the thirty four breaking a game wide open here in the fourth period with twenty seven points spearheaded by a tremendous defense for the right Franklin Spitz to the left Mitchell running from left to half and Brown at full and Plum fades to pass and hands the ball off to Brown on a reverse he gets away from one man from two from three driving hard and down he goes at the midfield stripe that man can run he bounced off a rosy grier and Andy Robus Delhi and then Sam Huff he was
helped by a block on the part of Bob Mitchell they're going to measure to see whether he might have gotten the first down generally a giant some enable to contain Jimmy Brown but today it was Bobby Mitchell who was the leading light in the first half as they sprung him loose now and again on the passes deep and short and used Brown occasionally mostly as a decoy but in this half they've used Brown for those running plays up the middle and this time on a sweet it is fourth time coming up they missed the first down by a body yard two minutes and two seconds and one second and the whistle may blow to notify each bench the two minutes remain in the game round forty eight they giants thirty four sandbakers into punt really Riley the deep man they snap from center and the punt got
knocked by a baker Riley taking it down on about the 10 and he is written down on the 11 by Jim Ray Smith the left guard for the Browns so the giants will have the ball as the clock is stopped a minute and 52 seconds showing on the scoreboard clock which is unofficial but is approximate first and ten for the giants on the ten yard line. Eric Brubaker spots the ball down on the 12 yard line and Lee Gross Cup is in now he's got wrote wide to the left and Morrison flanked to the right. Gross Cup goes back toward the goal line fades and throws a long pass intended for wrote and wrote grabs it and is out of bounds at about the 32 yard line Jim Schopner getting him at that point Paul Wiggins who crashed from right in at his hands on the jersey of
Gross Cup when he threw the ball so to first down for the giants with a minute and twenty five seconds remaining in the game the forty nine hours lead the coach seven and nothing as they play in the first period the Eagles beat the Redskins thirty eight to twenty eight and the cards beat the Steelers thirty eight to seven. Mel Tripley in there now Gross Cup fades he's being rushed and he starts to run to the ball and is downed on the thirty six yard line by Floyd Peters. Paul Wiggins Jim Houston putting on a rush the relative experience follows like a Shaw and Gross Cup has compared to the ability of Charlie Connolly to stay in a pocket and move out of it or avoid the charging defensive men then quite evident here in the last few minutes the tough position to learn and this league in Texas a few years second down and fourteen Gross Cup for the ball fades to pass being rushed and he is hit and dropped
on about the twenty five yard line Bob Gain the first man to hit him in Jim Houston and Floyd Peters and Vince Costello Houston and Wiggins have been simply great before the Browns all day they harried Connolly a lot but Chuck's great experience enabled him to evade them every now and then Bob Gain and Floyd Peters the two interior alignment Galen Fisben's Costello and Walt Michaels the linebackers have been sensational Bill King and for Triplett for the third nineteen situation and with only about fifty seconds left in the game Browns leading forty eight to thirty four Morrison comes out wide to the right and wrote wide to the left and with about six men ready to put on a rush the marker thrown the passes thrown in the flat to Phil King and he's run out of bounds at the twenty seven yard line by Vince Costello and Galen Fisben there's a marker thrown on the play as we told you back illegal in motion against the Giants so the Browns
have their option the clock has stopped for thirty six seconds left in the game and the Browns lead forty eight to thirty four now we have Jim Leo goes into the game Don Chambers in there to do the kicking no man back for the Browns they're not looking for kick but here comes and a high kick going deep down for your landing on the twenty and is down at the twenty yard line and a timeout is called the clock is stopped at twenty six seconds left in the game the ball on the twenty yard line the Browns did not put a man back they wanted to be ready in case of a fake put so twenty six seconds left the
Browns lead forty eight to thirty four bell trippet comes out Browns getting ready and out of run out the clock fifteen seconds left fourteen thirteen and there goes the gun and that ends the game the clock here of course is unofficial as we told you that's the end of the game with the score clave on forty eight the Giants thirty four I'll be back with the wrap up in just a minute
like this and true log of labor two good reasons why more than five million times a day someone enjoys a cool refreshing glass of Valentine beer in one of the high scoring games played in many a moon in any stadium short of the record of ninety eight points a total of eighty two points the Cleveland Browns that the Giants strang of successive wins that had reached six over them and captured second place in the Eastern division of the Eastern division winning their eighth game against three losses and the Giants lose their fourth game they won six the game that saw the Giants grab a quick fourteen nothing lead and a fourteen seven first period lead the Browns battle back to go ahead twenty one to twenty in the second period in the Giants finally came back to score and at halftime the Giants led twenty seven to twenty one in the third period the Giants added a touchdown and led
twenty eight rather thirty four to twenty one and then in the fourth period the Browns broke the game wide open after they had scored a touchdown the two of the great defenders Floyd Peters and Paul Wigan each intercepted passes they rushed the passer and went for touchdowns and a fumble that was recovered on the forty five in between the two added a enable them to go for a third touchdown so with twenty seven points in the fourth period the Cleveland Browns come from behind trailing thirty four to twenty one to defeat the Giants forty eight to thirty four as Bobby Mitchell and Jimmy Brown ran wild and with great defensive play on the part of Jim Houston Bob game Floyd Peters and Paul Wigan and the Giants themselves did a fine job until Charlie Connolly got hurt and overall an exciting game the New York Giants Cleveland Browns game today was brought to you by the American oil company and your
