Cleveland Browns Sign Safety Daniel Thomas for Special Teams Boost

Thomas brings solid experience on special teams, with over 1,400 career snaps across most units, except field goals. In Detroit, he posted 23 tackles, one tackle for loss, and one pass defended. This move addresses a thin safety group for the Browns, where Grant Delpid and Ronnie Hickman figured a start, but options like Free Agent Ray Sean, Jenkins and undrafted Donovan McMillan leave gaps, especially on special teams. Cleveland's struggle with one of the league's weakest special teams units last year, and with their coordinator now in Los Angeles with the Rams, Thomas helps kick off the rebuild there. The team could still pursue more safeties in Free Agency, or even target the position early in the 2026 draft to build out the room further.
