Cillian Murphy: Family Over Fame

He's turning 50 soon, and reflected on middle age, noting it's the first time he has less time ahead than behind. He hopes to focus on being a solid dad and husband, whilst staying serious about his work. Murphy has been married to artist Ivan McGinnis since 2004, and they have two sons. He's taking a long break from acting right now, with 15 months offset before his next project. Most days, he says, find him at home walking the dog. He's back as Tommy Shelby in the New Peaky Blinders movie, The Immortal Man. Murphy started the role at 35, and wrapped the film at 48, playing the character for over a quarter of his life. He watched his co-stars age, have babies, get married, and sadly lost Helen McCory to cancer in 2021.
