Christina Applegate's Anchorman Journey: From Low Offer to Improv Master

She got a really low initial offer to play Veronica Corningstone, opposite Will Farrell, it felt insulting, and she almost walked away because she knew her value. Luckily, Farrell and director Adam McKay really wanted her in the film. They stepped up and chipped in extra money to make a fair deal. Applegate said she was grateful they fought for her. That movie turned into one of the best times in her career. She had never tried improv comedy before, but working with Farrell, Steve Carell, and the crew taught her everything. It felt like a free masterclass. At first, she was terrified when McKay told everyone to just make stuff up on the spot. She stuck to the script as much as she could.
