Shicago Bears Practice Update, Roma Danza, Dondrey Swift, Leave With Injuries. Written by Michel Dwojak. This article is being read by an automated voice brought to you by Everlet. The Shicago Bears suffered two injuries to key offensive weapons Thursday during their final practice ahead of the Labor Day holiday weekend. Looking back, Dondrey Swift and Yd Receiver Roma Danza both left practice with apparent injuries. Neither came back to practice and the Bears didn't provide an update on their status. I don't know what's going on, but it's definitely an adjustment because you get in the huddle and you're like, wait, where's 1-5? Bears Yd Receiver Califf Raymond said at HALUS Hall in Lake Forest on Thursday. So it's an adjustment, but also we're praying that he's okay. I haven't talked to him just yet, we were looking for him. Odunz left the two-hour practice early.

It appeared as if the Bears were looking at Odunz's right foot, which he injured last season, and that forced him to miss the latter portion of the regular season. Shicago and the Bears are both looking forward to a big season from Odunzzi, the team's former number nine overall pick in the 2024 draft. Odunz got off to a good start last year when he caught five touchdown passes in the first four games. But his foot injury slowed him down and eventually forced him to miss the last five games of the regular season before coming back for both of the team's playoff games. Odunz had a good camp this summer, he looked fast and didn't show any trouble moving around the field, even though he spooked fans over the spring by saying that he had to adjust to a new normal. Instead, Bears coaches have said that people wouldn't know he had an injury had he not told them about it. The Bears expect Odunzzi to be a big part of a talented offense for quarterback Caleb Williams. He's expected to be featured along with wide receivers Luther Burton III, Califf Raymond

and Rookie Xavier Antamis, along with Tideon, Colston Loveland and Cole Kmet. There's also guys in the room that are prepped, Raymond said. Beers wide e-receivers coaches and assistant head coach Antoine Randall L actually talked to him Wednesday and said, hey, there's going to be moments in time where you guys got to step up. Each guy got to step up. He said that yesterday and then today we've got more guys playing snaps in different personnel and different spots and everybody's got it, it can't be any misdecitement. Swift suffered his injury on the final drill of practice. He ran for a good gain before being grabbed by a Bears defender. Swift quickly grabbed at his core and then ran straight to the side of the field out of sight from reporters. He didn't appear as if the Bears guarded Swift away, but he didn't return to the sideline. Swift had himself a great camp this summer. He looked more comfortable in head coach Ben Johnson's offense for a second straight season and looked poised to build off of a career season last year.

Swift is entering the final year of his contract with the Bears. Chicago is much thinner at its running back room compared to wide receiver. Back up Kyle Mininguy has missed the past couple of weeks with a knee injury and is considered weak to weak. The Bears also chose to keep Roshun Johnson along with practice squad running backs Salvan Ahmed and Zavayir Scott. I think Roshun is a guy that really had a great finish to camp here. Somebody that earned a lot of trust in the last couple of weeks. Bears' offensive coordinator, Press Taylor, said before practice. As Kyle goes down and Roshun's numbers increase and he got more opportunities, he proved to us that he's trustworthy. He can be in those situations if it comes down to it where we need him to carry a heavier load than we expected while being involved in special teams. That's something he's done well. Practice notes. Chicago held its final practice before being off until Sunday for the holiday weekend. Johnson wanted to make Thursday's practice tougher since the players will be off for an

extended period. It was also a final opportunity for the Bears to evaluate some position battles before shifting their focus to preparing for the Carolina Panthers in their season opener on September 13th. Braxton Jones earned all the first team snaps at left tackle Thursday as it appears clearer that it will be his job even though the team has an announced a starter. Theo Benadette backed him up while Ozzy Trapilo continued to practice but didn't do any team drills as he works his way back from injury. Bears' coaches continued getting looks at who they want, playing safety opposite, rookie, villain, themon. Xavier Woods continued to get the first team snaps at the spot while Cam Lewis worked mostly with the second team. Rookie Malik Muhammad continued to earn, looks at slot cornerback while Lewis worked into. Defensive tackle Contavia Street continued his good camp and earned looks with veteran Grady Jarrett as a starter. He made a nice tackle on the line of scrimmage during a 9 on 7 drill.

Williams in the offense had ups and downs throughout the day. Back to Rick Stevenson, a tip pass during a 7 on 7 drill. The offense also came out sluggish out of a half-time at practice. Williams missed three straight pass attempts and would have been sacked on another. He responded though. Williams fitted a beautiful pass to the other side of the field into Raymond's arms past Thiemon and Woods. Taking attendance, the Bears did get some good news on the injury front. Liv and Austin Booker returned to practice for the first time since he injured his groin during a joint practice against the Cincinnati Bengals a couple of weeks ago. Booker took part in some drills as he worked his way back into shape. Mone and Guy and Linebacker DeMarco Jackson both continued to miss practice.
