Dawn's breaking clear at 5.50 a.m. Sun sets around 7.45 p.m., perfect for early bites before the crowds hit. Weather is mild, mid fifties, light southwest breeze 5 to 10 miles per hour, water temps pushing upper fifties, rising with the spring warmup. Tides, rivers running steady with a slight ed from upstream flow, best action on the outgoing around mid-morning and dusk. Fish are waking up post spawn, large mouth bass are keen on shorelines under 5 feet, males clearing beds in the shallows, crappy hanging offshore brush and channels, blue-gill picking up near woody cover.

1:08Recent catches, good numbers of 2 to 4 pounds large mouth, slabs up to 1.5 pounds crappy, handfuls of perch and early strippers from Quiet Crews last week, while I fare on jigs from shore near outlets. Kitten with finesse, best lures are slow crankbaits, spinnerbaits or shallow jigs for bass, minotiped jigs or small plastics under popping hooks for crappy. Live bait, shiners or worms rule for panfish and cats. Twilight majors from 7 to 9 a.m. and 8 to 10 p.m. per soluna charts. Hot spots, magazine beach shallows for bass beds and the stretch under BU bridge for crappy, staging in current breaks, park easy, cast from bank.
