Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens

About this episode

Team Lead Zoo Teacher, Jamie Ling, and Ambassador Animal Keeper, Nathan Jordan, join us from the Central Florida Zoo and introduce us to "Gordito," a Cane Toad, also known as the giant neotropical toad or marine toad, another invasive species in Florida. Jamie shares how pet owners need to be on the lookout for these animals since the cane toad has poison glands, and the tadpoles are highly toxic to most animals if ingested. Its toxic skin can kill many animals, both wild and domesticated, and cane toads are particularly dangerous to dogs. You can learn more about the Cane Toad and other animals at www.centralfloridazoo.org or you can call (407) 323-4450.
