Carlos Alcaraz vs Wu Yibing - Preview & Prediction - 2026 US Open

0:00Hey guys and welcome back to the channel. We have Carlos Alcarez versus Will You Being for round three of the US Open. Very much looking forward to getting stuck into this one. Carlos of course is back from his long layoff having not played any tennis since April. Now he's come back of the US Open and he's looked pretty good. I think he's fair to say. I wouldn't say incredible, but probably to be expected given the lack of match practice, but I think he's actually played better than maybe a lot of people would have thought, maybe even including myself. And he's only dropped the one set across two rounds so far. For Will You Being, he's faced two Australians in his first two matches and has yet to drop a set. Al Kras. 23 years of age and he, I think the layoff in a way was a good thing because it meant that he came back refreshed and he did say they're really highlighted to him how much he's been missing tennis. But in a way, his body, I know of course the wrist was the biggest issue but the rest of his body would have got a bit of a rest which is probably good given the hectic schedule. And he looks pretty free out there playing. Looks pretty carefree, which is a positive thing. And for Will You Being, who's 26 years of age, he beat Adam Walton and James Duckworth in his first two rounds. Al Kras beat Safioulin I the first round which I thought was going to be a really tough match.

2:03And even though Carlos won a straight set, 6464, 6464, it wasn't straight forward. And Carlos did well to win some of the crucial, let's say clutch points that he needed to. Against Jaime Ferrier, he actually dropped the first set, 6464 then went on to win, 6362 from there in four sets. These two have played each other before, once in Shanghai in 2024. Carlos won that one, 7663. Will You Being is an interesting player. He has had some good results in his career. But currently he's actually ranked 113. He's definitely struggled with injuries. However, he's now in a position to play the, you could argue as Sin and No in the draw, the favourite, if you exclude Zverev, who had a pretty wobbly first round, of course. But I think from my perspective,

3:06this will just really highlight how solid Al Kras is playing right now. Because Will You Being is a type of player who is a counter-puncher, he has pretty good shot tolerance. He's good at boggling, his backhand is actually very good, very, very good as to Hander. The full hand, he's not necessarily going to hurt you with it, but it's server-support, it's got good depth, good good spin. The backhand, he can change direction at will. I feel like that's where he might have some success in the backhand, the backhand exchange. He's a very good returner. So if Al Kras is not serving his best, that's where, sorry, Will You Being could have a very good chance and opportunity to get into some of those Carlos service games. And on top of that, the serve is okay from Will You Being, but it's definitely not the best. And I think that's something that he's going to have to be very crafty and clever about when it comes to,

4:08I think, spot-serving, making sure that he hits his serves with variety. And I think that's really important when it comes to this matchup if you want to have any chance of beating Carlos. My overarching feeling is that Carlos is going to have too much fire power in the locker for Will You Being? Will You Being extremely athletic as well? And so you might see some very athletic points in and around the net, which is always great to see those card mouse points drop shot, then reverse drop shot, then lob, then you know, passing shot, then volley, and those types of points are incredible to see and I'm sure we'll see some because Carlos's matches tend to be a highlight reel. But I think Carlos will get this one done in straight sets. I think, it's a tough one because I could see him struggling, but I think, given he's now played two matches, he hasn't looked incredible, but I think he's good enough for me to say that I think he should power past Will You Being with his serve.

5:09I think he's going to dominate the serve, return on I make from the baseline, he should dominate it with his power and precision and spin in depth. And then he's also got the variety, the drop shot, the volleys, et cetera, transition game. I think defending wise as well, I think he actually is just a little bit better than Will You Being in every category. Let me know the comments what you guys think and why.
