Cardinals Lose Out on Willis, Scramble for Quarterback

The Arizona Cardinals had their eyes on quarterback Malik Willis, but he signed a deal with the Miami Dolphins on Monday, instead. This leaves their quarterback situation in tough shape, especially as they move on from Kava Murray. Willis spent the past two years backing up Jordan Love with the Green Bay Packers. He has just six career starts under his belt, but many saw him as the best free agent quarterback available. Fans and analysts are frustrated for Arizona, since reports over the weekend pointed to the Cardinals as a strong contender for Willis, losing him hurts their plans at the most critical spot on the roster. Miami sweetened the pot with a bigger offer than what Arizona had on the table. That connection to Packers coach Matt LaFlure did not sway Willis in the end.
