1:00So I know you've been here for a few weeks. Heck, you've even done three preseason games, but you have not been officially welcomed to the team until you show up on Cardinals Cover Two. So with that, welcome aboard JP Shadrick. Well, thanks for inviting me for the first time. I mean, I've been here for like a month. That is that is in the studio walking around. You see where I am every day. I mean, so it's taken week one of the NFL schedule to finally get on the cover two. Well, here's the thing. I wanted to make it feel special. I wanted it to wait until week one, because this as much as we talk about preseason and yeah, it was good. It was fun, but week one. Is this special to you? Week one? No, no, no, this. Oh, you're absolutely okay. Good. Okay. Absolutely. Thank you for that. That's a nice good voice of the Arizona Cardinal. Wild still think about, by the way. I like saying it to you, because I know how much it not bothers you, but it's like, wait a second. Like, what? No, I'm just JP. No, you're not JP.

2:02You're JP, comma, voice of the Arizona Cardinals. Right. Get used to it. I'm not going away for a while, hopefully. How are you settling in? I'm good, man. Well, I mean, my stuff's in a truck in Texas right now. I love this story, but other than that, I mean, the Jeep got here the other day, which is cool. Got to ride that around. You know, I have a folding chair in the living room and a TV and a bed. So that's cool. And then the rest of the stuff will be here, I think, next week, sometime, but beyond that, I mean, everything here in the building is fantastic so far. PR staff has been great. You guys have been awesome. Oh, the whole crew here just helping my transition, you know, learning the football team and learning the way you guys go about your business each and every week on podcasts such as these and television shows and all the talent that's here. I mean, this is this is the big leagues now. As long as you have running water and electricity and a bed, I think you're pretty much set. Oh, and a TV. I think those are the, those are the essentials. College football is on the other day at the house, buddy. So get ready. TV is a

3:04necessity. I can probably do without the water for a little while, even with a TV. Yeah, but you need store stuff, you know, and then, you know, basic hygiene, you kind of live alone. So whatever. That's fine. You enjoy the 9 AM kickoffs as opposed to what I tell you what that was. I haven't really dealt with that before. I wake up. There's like 630. The sun's out. I've rolled out of bed. I'm like, what is going on? Turn the TV college game days on already at 630 in the morning. And Alabama kicks off at 9 AM. I mean, eggs. This is fantastic. I can get used to this. So we've established that you are an Alabama fan. Well, I'm an alumnus. I wasn't kind of backed away from the fandom because I had worked at it. I had called games on national radio and, you know, not close to the best. Now, I'm backing off that a whole lot and I can be a little more into it. Okay. So let's start. But I'm going to let a 19 year old ruin my day either. So that's, there's part of that. If you get a little bit jaded when you see how the sausage is made. That's true. But hey, they're paid

4:08now in college. So I treat them as all professional scouts. That's right. All right. Let's dive in here on this first official week one game week, the first practice of the week before we talk about Cardinals chargers, the news of the day because it's been the day news that everyone wants to know and find out about and that is, yes, Jeremiah love was spotted during the open portion of practice. Though still nothing definitive regarding his availability on Sunday. I've already said earlier this week on underground that I fully anticipate Jeremiah to play during the open portion. He looked fine. Now you're not going full speed. You're not getting tackled to the ground. But what the Cardinals have done since the Raiders game as far as making sure that Jeremiah love was ready for week one. I think we saw that at least the start of it on Wednesday. Yeah. He's running around with the group that's out there during the open period doing offensive things. So there's your

5:09sign right there in my opinion too. So I agree with that. And boy, he was so good in the time in that preseason game that it just gives you these emotions and thoughts in your head of what could be a fantastic rookie campaign for love. He's such a dynamic player and we saw it. Yeah, it was against it. Well, it was against the number one defense there for one of those drives at least. For the for the Raiders, there's so much that is out there for him and for him to be healthy and ready to go. It's a great boost for the team because if they can run and coach was talking about this a little earlier on Wednesday, if they can run it and then open it up for these playmakers on paper, this offense can be really dynamic. That to me is if you're talking about the offense, what needs to happen for this offense to be successful? You have to get back to the ground. Yeah, absolutely. You have to reestablish this Cardinals run offense like we saw in 2024. Like we

6:10saw in 2023 never really got off the ground last season. Injuries were a part of that. But regardless of who's running the football, if you can have four yards of carry on average, if you can run when you want to, not when you need to, but when you want to, even though the defense knows it's coming and still gain four yards, then I think if you tell me that Tyler Algerge, Jeremiah Love, whomever are having good seasons, then the offense is having a good season. Doesn't mean the Arizona Cardinals are having a good season, but it means to me anyway that the offense is having a good season. And it's not sexy, right? At times, you know, it's going to be dirty. It's going to be between the tackles and you're going to move piles and like it's just not a flashy at sometimes. That's just not a flashy part of your offense. But you know, this better than most second and three is a lot better than second and eight. If you can get a first down run going

7:11and push that and all of a sudden, you've got options on second down with play action and McBride down the seam and all these guys on the outside. There you go. So if they can consistently get some early down momentum, it sets up this whole offense to be just so balanced. As much as we all like to cover, but set and want to see him stand in the pocket and throw the ball, we saw it way too much last season. The 40 plus past attempts, very many of those were completions, but you've been in this league. And regardless of what level, Pee Wee High School, college NFL, you need to be balanced or at least somewhat balanced. Not have two thirds of your total plays in 2025 be passing. This would be a fun. And I think there are teams that track this. I know. How what is the record of teams when you're throwing 40 to 45 passes a game? And it's probably not good. It probably means you're trying to catch up with somebody and you're trailing. You know,

8:15so yes, it needs to be a little more like 20 to 25 30 somewhere in there is probably the sweet spot in the passing game that means you're running it a good 25 times on the ground as well. Now I say all this and a question was asked Jacoby earlier on Wednesday about the playmakers. And he mentioned that in his phrase was pick your poison. And I think he did include the running backs, but we're all talking about the passing attack with Tramick bride, Marvin Harrison Jr. Michael Wilson, Kendrick born, and I would include Jeremiah love in that category. Based off the number of playmakers you have I still don't want to see Jacoby Berset drop back and throw that many times. Now I think some of these numbers that we got caught up in last season, tray over a thousand Michael Wilson over a thousand might not happen this season. Well, they had to do it last year down in games are throwing her over the yard and the only two guys that were healthy that were out there were those two. I mean, they're who else is going to throw it to last season, right? So no, they they might have less

9:18impactful statistical seasons and fantasy owners will hate it, but they might be a much better offense because of that because there's so many guys that can and will touch the football. You got to get Marvin Harrison some confidence. You got to throw him the football a lot and keep doing it and a drop here there in training camp. That's in the rear view now. Go go play with your guy and then you got Wilson who can go get it Kendrick born to salty vet. Like bride is the best tight-handed football. Okay, like they're they may not all have a thousand yards. If they do, okay, then that might be a pretty good season too, right? Then we're talking about the other things because that means they're scoring and and doing things and maybe not catching up with people. Maybe that's just because they've run the ball so effectively and they have some mismatches outside, but I still think it's the balance. It's the run game. It's all these guys and you know, if they can get, you know, I think that's a great point. I don't know if I could pick which one's going to have a thousand yards this year. Somebody probably will, but they none of them mine either.

10:21They could they could all go over on the topic of the run game. Your take or your expectation or your thoughts because as the voice of the Arizona Cardinals, you have a little bit more access and until then both easy really. You haven't found that out. Who's going to tell me that? The split between Jeremiah, love and Tyler, I'll share you have an expectation as far as whether it's this week or this first half of the season or the entire season, how you're going to handle. If your head coach Michael Flore and you have two running backs who are very capable to run the ball, I think Jeremiah is a little bit ahead as far as the past game is because of his ability to catch the ball, not that, not that Tyler can't, but how do you utilize both? Here's I've heard coaches talk about this before with running backs and young running backs, especially rookies in the league. I saw Tyler out, jeer at the Green Bay practice put about three blitzing packers on their backside. Past protection is so important for a running back. And I don't know where Jeremiah, love is in

11:27that regard yet. So I think when it's third down, maybe it's bad night sometimes, but how jeer might be your guy, that's your 510 to 25 crusher to help the offensive line when it's a third and long situation. I think there's probably a little more trust in that department, at least early, not that love can't learn it. And he will and he's a smart player and it just takes a little time. It's just people flying from all directions here and you got a lot of other things to worry about. Love is the more dynamic, I think, breakaway player clearly. But out years, you know, he's a pound it right there between the middle. If you need some tough yards, put him in there and he's hard to find behind these big veteran offensive linemen too. He's 510. So he's wide and he's not scared of contact. So I think there's a balance there. Now I keep going back to fantasy owners. They're going to hate that too because it's it might be a two headed monster at times here. And love might not get a thousand yards this year because out years going to take some away or vice versa, right? But that's not a bad thing. You can have a really dynamic run game with two

12:32different styles of running back. Do you play fantasy football? No, they seem there. Neither do I. No, I mean, I was a few years ago. You play it just as a group. You can't play it for money or whatever. But like just to keep up and be part of the group. But then there's this one more thing on Sunday for me to worry about. I don't know who's in line up. We've got to buy we're on the West Coast. It's like now 6 a.m. I'm doing a lineup. Come on. This is ridiculous. Now all the advantages of the West Coast. Wait a second. Can't play fantasy football on the West Coast. Which is probably good. On the the one thing I thought about when you're talking about this running back room and we didn't see it at least during the open practices at state farm stadium. Not sure if it's happened here in Tempe when we're not out there. But having both Jeremiah and Tyler on the field at the same time. Oh yeah. Because whether that's sharing the backfield or one in the slot or split wide. And maybe we do see it or maybe it's later on in the season when Jeremiah love is more up to speed.

13:32I love what you said about Tyler. I'll cheer being more of that third down back because of past protection. And then we see in the league that there are no running backs that are on the field for all three downs and getting 30 touches a game. I think those days are gone outside of maybe a Derek Henry. But you want these running backs to stay healthy. Stay fresh going into the fourth quarter and healthy. Obviously going into weeks 13 14 15 16 17. There's only a handful of guys that you kind of would think of that. You know in today's game. It's always say quans one you want out there all the time. You know going back at Eric Dickerson's going to be out there every down. Right. I mean, but those days are Adrian Peterson. Right. Those those are fairly rare. And maybe in time love becomes one of those guys. Like we said, it's it's possible for him to to grow. And I think there was some talk around about some of that this off season. I think Nathaniel Hackett earlier this off season was talking about love and saying, you know, he is rookie. I don't think he meant bad things by that. But this is I think part of what he meant by that. There's a lot more

14:37than just getting the hand off and running. There is a whole lot more that's going to happen here with love. And it's only going to go up with him. But having two guys out there at the same time. It's interesting because they only have we got three tight ends on the roster. A lot of these other teams are drafted and tied ends left and right. I mean, and have four sometimes five. They're going to put three tight ends on the field sometimes. The Rams were big with that last year. You know, and in lieu of that, maybe do you put a second running back at times and change the way the formations and the way the defense has to look at you. And then all of a sudden these wider sewers are getting loose on the outside. The other offensive notes. And I don't put too much stock into whether or not you're practicing on Wednesday. Come back and talk to me whether you're on the field on Thursday and Friday. But Isaiah Adams remains absent at least during the open portion of practice dealing with that knee issue. So if he's not practicing and not available this week, that means John Gaines is your guy who did start the final five games last season at left guard. Now you're talking about needing someone on the right side of the line of

15:41scrimmage. So that would be the only quote unquote question as far as you're starting offensive unit is what you do at right guard. But right now without a chase, but scientists, you have John Gaines who's been that guy whenever called upon whether it's at center, whether it's at guard. He's even played some tackle. He is that guy. And I'm sure everyone wants to be able to be in one spot and start all 17 games. But if you have a uniform on game day, JP, you know, if you're active, be ready. And I think John Gaines has been been in the NFL as long as he has because he's ready. These guys are so valuable. The guys with all this versatility on the offensive line that, okay, maybe it's you, you can play center and guard. But if you can flip and play all these positions on both sides. And you think, Oh, it's mad and you can plug and play a guy from left tackle to right tackle. That's not always how it works because the mechanics are just opposite. And you've been trained one way or guards the same way or kind of dealing with things in one

16:44space in your head. And then physically and then having to flip it around may not be so easy sometimes. There was a guy in Jacksonville Patrick McCarrie was his name. He was a guard there. And he's got a back injury this year, at least early in camp. I think he's been dealing with the head surgery. But in Baltimore, before he got to Jacksonville, he played all five positions for the Ravens in different parts of a couple of years there. All five offensive line spots from snapping all boat. I mean, that is those are hard to find. And the more you can do with the offensive line, the more options it gives the offensive line coach and the coordinator and the play collar. Okay, we don't have to go find this transaction on a week when we have somebody who can play two, three, four positions on the old line. They're really hard to find. Just something to pay attention to bird gang when it comes to the offensive line. Isaiah Adams is he on the field on Thursday is he on the field on Friday. Again, Wednesday, not too much of a concern. I say that. And this might raise some red flags because also not spotted during the open portion of practice.

17:50Josh what now earlier on Wednesday, Michael, Flore asked about sweat and said there are no restrictions coming up on game day. Now that meant nothing about Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday. But the expectation is at least according to the head coach is Josh what is going to be ready to go and perform. I would hope like we saw last season. Now is he going to be that guy that you have to massage during the week to make sure you're ready for Sundays could be. But just again, transparent. No number 10 during the open portion on Wednesday. I feel like this is going to be a topic. Yes, it is. All season long, you know, just the way and the Flores talked about this too. Like he's they kind of trust sweat to tell them when he's ready to go. He's played enough football in the league going into year number nine, 55 career sacks. That okay, if you need a Wednesday, maybe we give you something Thursday, Friday, and then you ramp you up to game day. There's a

18:52lot of these teams give some veterans a Wednesday off, you know, occasionally. Hopefully it's that. And if you said there's no restrictions and you got to trust him. Yeah, whatever the coach says, you have to take them out of this word until proven otherwise. Exactly. And for though me for me, it's as excited as I am about the offense and this running back situation. The concern is, and I think it's I share it with a lot of people is the past rush overall. Not defensive lineman rushing the passer. I'm talking about the outside linebackers and what they're going to be asked to do because if you don't have a Josh wet or a limited Josh what who else is going to be able to affect the quarterback. Now I say all this and I have to remember that you have to earn the right to rush the quarterback on third down. That to me is where it all begins is be better on first and second down. So you can throw Josh wet out there or Jordan Birch or Baron Browning or Zavin Collins or Echo Leota, whomever it is. But if you're not defending on first and second down,

19:59then third and short, third and four less now all of a sudden as a defense, you don't know what's coming. You need known past situations. And I think too many times last season, especially late in the season, the Cardinals defense did not get into known past rush situations. And I hope that changes and hopefully it changes this Sunday. You get this Mike McDaniel offense running this wide zone with the Maureen Hampton going full speed and cutting up field for 10 yards, a play or whatever. I mean, you're not going to get sweat on the field to play against that in a past resting situation. So that's what this Chargers team has tried to reboot. Like, let's, how do they run the football better to balance it out for Herbert on the play action? Kind of similar we're talking about with the Cardinals. I don't know about their skill guys as much. I think there's better skill players on the Cardinals and there are the Chargers, especially quite a scenery. But the whole point is if you don't stop Hampton, they have a they brought a fullback in that gives you

21:00an idea of what they want to do. And it's run the football. And if you don't stop it, all the rest probably isn't going to matter because they're just going to run it all day. Here's some scary numbers for you from last season when it comes to the Cardinals defense. On first down, Cardinals allowed almost six yards on first down. Oh gosh. 5.99. That's almost six. It is based off my Syracuse math and your Alabama math. That is almost six fingers and toes were counting. Not the worst in the league though. But the upper half of the worst. Not where you want to be. No. And the defense allowed the third most plays of 11 or more yards on first down. So change that around. And I think you can change not just the defense, but the overall Arizona Cardinals as a team. Now I say all this we have to earn the right to rush the quarterback. And this week's challenge are as going to be a tough one, maybe in the more than one of the more difficult challenges

22:01because of who the chargers now have it tackled. And the fact that Rashon Slater and Jolt are both healthy. Now all of a sudden, as much as Justin Herbert was on his back last season, because Slater missed all of last season. Jolt missed more than half this season. But the chargers are coming in week one with some questions maybe on the interior, especially at center. But protecting the blind side and protecting the other side of Justin Herbert might be two of the better tackles in the league. Might be the best book in tackles and put me right there in the conversation at least your point. And then on the interior going back to what you briefly touched on, they brought in two new guards. So a Wojska is there at left guard. Cole Strange is the right guard. They got a rookie center now in Jake Slater because they brought in a free agency got his knee hurt in the preseason. So yeah, okay defensive tackles. Let's go see it. The guards, but you can go,

23:01maybe you can go do something against this rookie center because make his head swim a little bit. I don't know if you can, the old Jeff Login thing. So it logs as a 1989 first round draft pick of the Jets defensive end. Now the Jaguar's analyst has been there forever. It was the 95 free agency pick up by the Jags first year. He always told me, you know, especially if I was lined up against a rookie first play of the game, I would just jump off sides and just start on the startle and getting his head the rest of the game. I don't know if you can do that with Jake Slater. He's played a lot of Florida. He's a smart, you know, but you should be in theory able to do something on the interior. So defensive tackles. Let's go guys. Like this is your game. Nolan Roy Lopez at the nose. The big fellow Billings. I mean, they should, this is where they have to stack it up right up in the middle of this offensive lock. If one of those defensive tackles on the interior were to apply your suggestion. My suggestion. I don't suggest that. I love it. Boxes. It was locked.

24:07It was a 1989. I love it. My suggestion on top of your suggestion would be to let the head coach know ahead of time. Hey coach. And I think I think a Roy Lopez could get away with this. And Andrew Billings could get away with this. Look, this is my thinking. I know you don't like pre snap penalties. However, for just this particular snap, we'll give up the five yards because potentially later on in the game. Now, the sudden, this rookie center. I'm in his head. Or hey, double a gap blitz first play. Buddha coming right down from safety right over his shoulder. It's only a cost. It's only a cost of five yards. What? It's worth it. So it's first and five. And also, it's like looking around the rest of the game. Like where are they coming from? Can we get defensive line coach PK on board here? I think this might be something. I love it. Hey, it's part of the tricks of the trade. Right? A little gamesmanship. It's just one penalty.

25:08I don't know, but there's the other four live. You got to worry about two. Those guys have played a lot of football to your point. And if they're counting on this rookie to step it and play, I think he'll be ready. Last season, Justin Herbert's and the Chargers quarterbacks, Sacked 60 times. And the Chargers overall allowed the second highest pressure rate. That's why they revamped the line and all these guys are back. You think Mike McDaniel means we know what his history is. How this plays a factor into what the Chargers potentially could do and what the Cardinals are facing this week. Maybe I'm just talking about the run game earlier, right? I think he designed all that stuff in San Francisco. And then early in his time in Miami, they had a balance to now they had Tyrick and they had Waddle on the outside, which are two different levels of speed to balance things out. They could just, two, it could just toss at 10 yards and they'd run 80. That was the different dynamic there that I don't think they have right now

26:09in L.A. with the Chargers at least. But start with the run game. You can acquire some of that talent a little bit later on the outside of balance it out. And I will see. I think he's, obviously he's moved up quickly for a number of reasons. And a lot of those is the way he's designed offences in the run game, especially. The history between Mike LaFlure and Mike McDaniel goes back a ways. But LaFlure has been quick to point out, hey, we weren't, we haven't been together since 2020. And there's a long time since then. But it wouldn't surprise me in coaches do this all the time. But go back to 2020. Try to figure out and perhaps predict, forget what happened in Miami. What was successful from Mike McDaniel as a play call? And whether that means going back a year or five years or 10 years, although we kept hearing on Wednesday, not only from the head coach, but the quarterback as well, because we're always wanting to know about matchups. And you were,

27:13you asked a couple of different questions about, hey, looking at the Chargers offense, looking at the Chargers defense. And we get, it's about us. And I get it. For week one, there's a lot of unknown. Sure. There's a lot of surprise. Unscattered looks. There's a lot of overreaction. Yes. The Monday after Sunday teams win unexpectedly. And all of this is their year. Power rankings change. Give me a break. And then they finish 10 games under 500. And then the opposite happens. Some team loses unexpectedly. And then they go on to make the playoffs win the Superbus. This team was two and O last year. The Cardinals, by the way, look what happened the rest of the way. Yeah. It can happen both ways. I just enjoy the phrase. It's about us because you hear it every single week one before week one by every single team across the league. This is 11 guys on the other side of the football that are professionals as well. And a couple of them that are probably near the Hall of Fame on the defensive side for the Chargers. One of them, at least certainly in Calil Mac and Twi Polotus, really surged the last year. So he got one of the

28:19best quarterbacks in football, Justin Herbert, when he's on, when he has the balance, he's got tight ends. It can play a joke who's there now. Colors their guy. Maconkey can be a problem. I mean, so they've got players. It is not yes. It is about the Cardinals and they have to go execute and you know, perform and do everything they can. But there's another team out there that's gone to the playoffs two years in a row. This is not some slouch team. Chargers have a new offensive coordinator. They have a new defensive coordinator. So I understand, hey, we need to dictate, not be dictated to. Yeah, that's a good attitude. Yes. You know what? I'm with you. But they have to say this week. This is the way to say it. It is about the Cardinals. And if they go execute, like we said, on paper, they've got an offence. They can score. They got defensive players that can come play if they're out there. They weren't out there last year. Go execute and see what we'll see what happens in the fourth Cardinals at the chargers on Sunday. 125 is the kickoff. 10 AM

29:22pregame coverage begins on the Arizona Cardinals radio network. Anything outside of what we've already talked about that you're most curious about or excited about on either side of the ball and heck, maybe it's not even Cardinals related, but just overall looking at week one. I'm curious as the head coach now, Michael Flore in game, we saw a little bit of that, you know, in the preseason, but it's the preseason. How does he handle when it's hot? Like when when things are tight and it's the third and fourth quarter in communication, you got the headset and you're dealing with all these things and the challenge flag and replays and how does he handle that? And you don't know until it's a real game week one in the NFL. And then you still might not know. It might take a little while to figure out what that's going to feel like. He says the confidence, just listening to him talk about those things that it shouldn't be much of an issue, but we'll see how that goes. And

30:24you don't know your emotions until you run out of that tunnel on week one as a head coach. What happens when things go wrong? That's another one too. And they will. Yes. There's no one has ever played the perfect game and things are going to go sideways. And now as the man in charge, you don't have that guy next to you that, well, that's not my decision. He made the call. No, no, this is everything that happens on game day is now Michael Flores responsibility. And he's not playing, but as the head coach, it falls at your feet. I just hope we still see that personality that is there with him, you know, because we're lacking that in football today sometimes in this position, right? Especially when things go south, people are so protective of things inside. College football has a lack of personalities at head coach now again, the early 2000s, it's just overflowing, right? Is he the same approach coach when it's good and bad? That's the sign that

31:26things are going to be on the right track for him. Speaking of personality and we'd not discuss this beforehand, but you're leading me right into this. Have you had any dealings with Jim Harbaugh during the course of your career? Not really, because he was suspended. The one of the years. Mike dropped. So he was not available for Michigan against Ohio State. They won anyway somehow. So I had a couple of those games. No, I never really had any actions with him. Either now he was, he was the head coach in San Francisco in 13 when the Jags played them in London, the first London game in 2013. And they scored four consecutive touchdowns to open the game against the Jags. So with Colin Kaepernick and the whole deal coming out the Super Bowl. Darren Urban retweeted this one of the Chargers beat riders. And this is, I don't know, again, I don't know context. I just saw the quote and I've got to share it because Jim Harbaugh on Wednesday quote, it's September. It's time

32:27to play our first game. And I support no cause, foreign or domestic other than the greatness of the Los Angeles charts. See now this is a little bit of personality coming. Like at least, okay, is annoying is sometimes some of his stuff might be to some fans or he's going to have a quarter to that's like, okay, this is now we're talking. We can, we can, we can write this. We can rerun this. Yeah. That works for what week one. And then after that is like, hey, we need, we need a little bit more. But I appreciate again, do you have someone that's the face of your franchise, meaning the head coach that's standing up there taking questions, giving answers, but not having fun with it, but at least some bansers, some back and forth, we've seen that with Michael floor where there's, you're either joking or making a comment and just, but you're still giving some substance with your responses. I mean, it could be John Harbaugh who's trying to go after the New York media in week one, all right, like first time. I mean, so it could be the other

33:28way around too. Competitive advantage. That's the other, we're on to Cincinnati. That's the other phrase. I don't know if you've heard JP, but the regular season begins tonight. As we speak here Wednesday afternoon, so 5 30 Arizona times. It's a super bowl rematch. I love that voice. Maybe in the middle of the bird game, I'd be taking this cardinal sc�ber two show and after game one on Wednesday for the second time in league history. The season is beginning on a Wednesday. That's because on Thursday, which is really Friday in Melbourne, the Rams and 49ers play. The 49ers have been in Australia for a week. The Rams landed about an hour and a half ago. They are spending more time in the air than they are on the ground. At least that's what I've read. I am fascinated to no end on how this is going to play out on Thursday, Arizona time, US time.

34:34Who wins? Which approach, but also not just the win on Thursday, but what happens week two, week three, week four? Does one of these approaches work as an advantage in all of sudden more teams are going in the day before, regardless of how long of a trip. You and I were talking before we hit record, you've made a number of trips to London with the Jacksonville Jaguars and have done it a number of different ways. Everywhere you can imagine. Let's start with this Australia game though first. It's 5 30 hour time on Thursday in the afternoon, 8 30 Eastern, which is like 10 30 AM Australia time on Friday. First of you're playing a game at 10 30 AM local time. Let's start with that. I don't think many of these guys have done that since college, maybe the 11 o'clock central. So when's pregame meal? If you're kicking off at 10 30 AM? Just dinner the night before? I don't know. I just show and go. I have no idea. What do you eat?

35:37Obviously, then what, 15 hours or whatever in the, I don't know how long the flight is. 14 and a half 15 enough. Yeah. It's long enough to be a thing. But the Rams last year did this. I think they've done this a couple different international trips. But last year, especially, they played in Baltimore the week before the London game against the Jags. Stayed in Baltimore all week to practice. I don't know where they were. Maybe University of mayor. I wouldn't have been there because Maryland had to practice too. So somewhere else in Baltimore area, they practiced all week. They waited and showed up Saturday afternoon. Usually you show up, you know, leave Thursday, get there Friday for the short trip. And then you acclimate, you'll walk through Friday and Saturday. You play the game Sunday, fly home. Well, they came as late as they could on Saturday, like a regular trip from Baltimore. And they walked into Wimbledon under the arch and decimated the Jaguars who had been there all week. Cause Liam Cohen, first year coach, was like, Hey, let's go. We'll go all week. We'll practice at the grove. This beautiful golf

36:41resort thing. A family's will come to a whole thing. And by the time Sunday got there, okay. Now the other other part of that is that at that time, the Jaguars were not the Jaguars. We know the rest of the season. They were not ready offensively yet. Their defense had holes in it or question, not hold, but they had question marks what they were doing. And the Rams did not. The Rams knew exactly what they were doing. They didn't have Pokemon to the Kua. It didn't matter. They had every tight end known to man on the roster, catching the football on the first drive. And I think a left 10 or 10 different guys caught a ball in that game. Wow. Matthew Stafford through three to Devante, touchdowns. I mean, it was just like, there was no chance. And I don't, the travel didn't matter. So to my point, sometimes it doesn't matter when you fly. If you're a good football team, you're going to be good in pretty much every time zone. That's why I think when the Colts had paid manning, I don't think they went to the West Coast on

37:43like Friday for these West Coast games. I think they came on Saturday because like, you know what, we're good enough. And why would we go? What are we doing? Like, why would we change our schedule to go out here and play this game when I'm going to throw it to Marvin Harris and four times and Dallas Clark and all these like, okay, let's go play. So that's the approach I think for the Rams, even to more of an extreme now, especially these international trips. If you're good enough, you're going to be good enough. If you're a bad team, you're going to, you're going to stink in London too. And I've seen it both ways. Like, you've had good teams that can play there. They could travel that stay all week and play well on Sunday. And you've had bad teams that go late and play great or don't to the point. And it's the long answer because I've been over there a lot. Jack's played 14 games there. They're seven and seven all time. So there you go. And they've had all kind of different teams. So most likely the talents wins out not so much the travel on how

38:44you get there. But I am, I am truly fascinated because everyone on Friday morning in the US, they're going to have a reaction one way or the other depending on the outcome of the game. It'll be overblown. Everybody wants a click. Everybody wants you to watch sports center the next day or get up or whatever the show is with all those guys. So that's fine. That's their job. I think it's the talent more than the travel. Everybody's going to have to travel at some point to play these games. So how do you handle it? You handle it. There's a blueprint for it. So just follow it. Sleep when you need to and get up and play and go home. Let's bring this full circle here.
