Cardiff University Fined for Lab Allergen Neglect

Two staff members ended up with lifelong asthma after years of exposure in their animal research facilities. Help and save the executive investigators nailed the school for not controlling those risks properly. This mess dragged on for 15 years, from 2008 right up until last year. Those called it truly concerning, especially since occupational asthma can wreck lives and end careers. The university admitted the breaches in court back on April 30th. One worker described brutal symptoms, like struggling to breeze during long talks or climbing stairs and needing multiple inhalers daily. Their lung function dropped by a third, forcing them out of the job entirely. The other faced similar permanent damage.
