Can't Get in Front of Affluent Clients? Here's a Better Way In
About this episode
If you're trying to attract more affluent clients, you may be looking in the wrong place. Instead of asking, "How do I meet more wealthy people?" ask a different question: "Who already has relationships with the wealthy people I want to meet?"
If you're an architect, that might be luxury real estate agents, interior designers or art advisors. If you're in healthcare, it might be wealth advisors, private clubs or luxury travel advisors. If you sell luxury products, it could be exotic car dealers, galleries or high-end real estate professionals. Different businesses, but they're serving many of the same people you want to reach.
But don't approach them asking to exchange referrals. That's immediately transactional. Instead, find a reason for them to be glad they know you. Introduce them to someone useful. Feature their expertise in one of your videos. Invite them to participate in a small event. Send them information that's genuinely valuable. Become useful before you ever ask them for anything.
Because a wealthy client might know three people who could hire you. Someone who serves wealthy clients may know 300. Become known and trusted by the right people, and eventually your name starts coming up in conversations you're not even in.
