About this episode
In this episode, Bob chats to financial mentor, blogger, podcast host, and author, Chris Mamula. Chris, set to follow the traditional path of work, save, retire and play, realized waiting to retire at 65 was not appealing. Chris questioned his assumptions of life and educated himself on investing, saving and tax planning, and with a little motivation and persistence, he found financial independence at 41.
Now, he draws on his experience and writes about wealth building, DIY investing, financial planning, early retirement, and lifestyle design at Can I Retire Yet. He is also the primary author of the book, Choose FI: Your Blueprint to Financial Independence and co-host of the podcast Choose FI.
Bob and Chris discuss the concept of F. I. R. E. (Financial Independence-Retire Early) and the three basic choices with money; spend less, earn more and invest better. Chris explains how he and his wife made intentional choices to learn the technical aspects of finance and money, to proactively change their future. Can you retire early? Yes – if you're willing to do the work! @caniretireyet, @choosefi
