Tied to a shooting link to these schemes. Earlier this month, on the morning of March 7th, officers clocked a traffic violation on Falcon Ridge Boulevard near Terecova State Drive. They pulled the vehicle, saw it mashed a suspect ride from a March 4th extortion shooting in Saddle Ridge, seized it, and pulled key evidence. Inside, that evidence got labbed up over the next few weeks and connected dots to prior incidents and other suspects already in the mix. He's the second to get hit with charges here. Last week, 45-year-old Rana Chima caught heat for a string of extortion plays, including threats. To a daycare, just outside the city limits. Since January, Calgary's seen 41 extortion attempts, with 18 involving straight-up shootings at homes, businesses, or cars. Victims getting hit with threats over international calls and social media too, but so far, no one's reported injuries.
