The Caltomas Gummittir is brought to you by Values Through Media. Now here's syndicated columnist, Caltomas. Some dates are fixed in our collective memories. November 22nd, 1963, the assassination of President Kennedy. April 1968, the month when Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr. were killed. And of course, September 11, 2001, the attack on America by Islamic terrorists that initially killed nearly 3,000 people and by cancer and other after-side effects have led to an estimated 10,000 deaths. Our biggest mistake leading up to 9-11 was not taking seriously the threats against us. Osama bin Laden called for an attack on the U.S. and was largely ignored. Why didn't someone think it suspicious that the hijackers took flying lessons at a school in Florida but only on how to take off and not land? Six days after the attack, President George W. Bush visited the Islamic Center in Washington and claimed the attackers didn't represent what he called the peaceful religion of Islam. Three in modern times prove Islam is anything but peaceful.

Denial set us up for that attack 25 years ago and continue denial will set us up for another one. I'm Caltomas. For a free copy of today's commentary, visit caltomas.com or write us at values through media.
