BYU Crushes Kansas State, Dybantsa Scores 40

Freshman AJ DeBonza stole the show with 40 points, marking just the second 40-point game in tournament history. He also broke Kevin Durant's Freshman's scoring record there, adding nine rebounds and six assists in 37 minutes. DeBonza got passed over for Big 12 player of the year, which went to Arizona's Jaden Bradley on Monday. His explosive play suggested he channeled that disappointment into fuel for the Cougars. BYU's offense clicked on all cylinders, setting a tournament record with those 105 points. They shot 55% from the field, drained 11-3 pointers, and spread the scoring with double digits from Kenner Davis Jr. Rob. Right the third, and Alex Edge-Costick. Those efficient bursts, late in the first half and early in the second, put the game out of reach, leaving BYU starters rested and rolling into there.
