Bulwell Residents vs Airbnb Parties

About this episode

Bulwell Residents Nightmare: Airbnb Parties Turn Quiet Street into Chaos

Neighbors in Bulwell, near Broomhill Road, are fed up with nonstop teenage house parties at a rental property listed on Airbnb and Booking.com. Last year, police broke up four wild gatherings, leading to stricter guest checks and personal booking verifications. Despite these measures, parties continue, causing fear and disruption. In March, teens partied outside after being denied entry, clashing with other guests. The landlord, Airbnb, and police are taking action to prevent further chaos.

On April 4th, residents in Bowelwell near Brumhill Road are fed up with non-stop teenage house parties turning their quiet street into chaos, all. Thanks to a rental property listed on Airbnb and booking.com for under 50 pounds a night. Last year, police broke up four wild gatherings there, so the landlord at Realwood Homes, ramped up guest checks, changed the locks after a key got, stolen and started personally verifying bookings to keep the rowdy crowds out. Neighbors described feeling trapped and terrified, with music blasting, walls banging, fireworks popping and groups spilling into yards and streets, blocking driveways and peeking in windows during these all-my-bashes. Things calm for a bit this year, but on March 21st, teens showed up again, got the night entry, then partied right outside, clashing with other, guests until cops disperse them. One lord says they blocked repeat offenders, Airbnb rode out party blocking tech last December

using machine learning to flag risky bookings, and police are watching close, ready to step up if the mayhem keeps rolling.
