The Tampa Bay Buccaneers suffered a big loss in free agency when StarWide receiver Mike Evans signed a three-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers last Thursday. Evans holds the record for the most consecutive seasons with 1000 receiving yards, passing Randy Moss back in the 2020 season. The Buccaneers tried hard to keep him, offering significantly more money than the 49ers right from the start. General manager Jason Lickt said they did everything possible, but it just wasn't enough to change Evans' mind. Fans and team insiders see this as a direct hit from Tampa Bay's late season collapse. They started strong at six wins and two losses, but finished eight and nine, dropping four of their last five games and missing the playoffs entirely. Evans, a Texas A&M product, won a Super Bowl with the Buccaneers during the Tom Brady era in 2020 and 2021. At 31 years old, he chose to chase another title with a strong contender like San Francisco.
