2:03a summer full of options and decisions for the Bucks. There's one big one that you're going to have to figure out probably in the next couple of days here, a new trend that we've seen from the Bucks of Lades, which I think we can all get behind and what your interest in the NCAA tournament this week should be. But we begin with the decisions and recapping that win, win, a moral win last night against the Cleveland Cavaliers. There's a couple of players that stood out. There was no Yannis. There was no Miles Turner either. And I do wonder if there will be no Kevin Porter Jr. for parts or most of the Western conference road trip coming up. There was Pete Nance. And I don't think Pete Nance has jumped off the page and wowed you, but he is stood out by being a solid player and making winning plays. And that continued last night as well, what 13 points, I think five rebounds somewhere

3:04along there that he just continues to be a solid contributor. And there's going to be a lot of change with this team in the summer, but there may be one before the summer, because we are now down to three games left, I believe, on his two way availability. So what do you do with Pete Nance? At this point in the season, it's your time is ticking, right? There is not much time left to make that decision because as you mentioned, he only has about three games of availability left to continue playing for this franchise. And well, the season, I'll say, on the main roster. And I've been saying once, it was very clear that this team wasn't going to hit the, that playing and be a playoff team. The most important thing is figuring out what you have in these young guys on this roster. Are there guys on this roster who you can look at and be like, Hey, this could be a fundamental piece of who we would like to have on this team next year going forward. And Pete Nance has shown in his time playing for this team, not like an all starting thing

4:04like that where the numbers pop out to you, but just really competent and smart basketball play. And for that, I think he is someone who, as I've said, minutes are earned and he has earned playing time. He has earned a chance to continue playing for this team. So I think the bugs are going to, well, not think we know they're going to have to make a decision pretty quickly about if they're going to convert his contract into a regular contract. Or if that's going to be the end for the call up to the main roster going forward after those games were played. But Pete Nance is the guy who I would like to continue to see more of this season. So I would hope that he is someone that the bugs do decide to extend the contract to. So yeah, you, you kind of touch on it at the end there. The decisions aren't necessarily like immediate that like you don't have to convert him. It doesn't mean you lose him. You just can't play him once he uses up those three games. So you could use him up immediately. You could just put him on ice through this road trip and say, let's, let's save this for

5:06the final week of the season. I think with the way their roster currently is, I don't see why you would do that. You know, if this was the back end of the roster was a little different. Like, if this was a group where it was full of vets, but the back view guys were like AJ Green or Ryan Rollins last year and it's going to get rid of one of these guys if we're going to convert him. Yeah, wait it out, get to the summer, make some other moves to free up some roster spots. But you know, the elephant in the room is if you just look through the makeup of the Bucks roster, it's basically Andre Jackson Jr. Who we're talking about that their spot is at risk. I mean, everyone else is seemingly on a one plus one for the Bucks. I suppose, you know, we keep saying Andre Jackson Jr. But there is one other name in there that we, I think, do have to mention as well, based on what we've seen these past couple of games.

6:06So there's really two names that you could look at and say, okay, we're moving on from this guy. So for that reason alone, I would expect them to convert him before the three games runs up or shortly thereafter because that's what happened last year with Ryan. Wasn't it? He used up his availability and then they converted him shortly after. Phenascist is not at risk of being exiled from the team. Gary Harris is on a one plus one, Gary Trent Jr. Another name you would probably circle is on a one plus one. You just signed Kornback Ryan to a two way deal. So that doesn't count towards your standard roster spots. There's Andre Jackson Jr. And there's Camp Thomas Camille, who gotten back to back DNPs. And that was somewhat polarizing in the chat the other day as well with people questioning why isn't Camp Thomas playing? And I don't know how you feel. I think I know how you feel. But I made the case too of like, look, guys, this is who Cam Thomas is.

7:09And we've seen that throughout his career. Yes, he has those bright flashes where he can put up 40 in a game and he did that game number two this season. He had the 34 in the game against the magic for the box. That sprinkled around there is a lot of 16 and inefficient scoring. And it's a lot of dribbling and ISO. And we have heard, even if we haven't necessarily seen it, we have heard from Dr. Rivers. That is what we want to move away from. We've heard everyone's favorite three pass rule, which I haven't charted at every single possession. But to the naked eye, it feels like that has kind of fallen off a cliff of like Camille. But I mean, do you think there's any risk that they would already just move on from Cam Thomas? I think it's on the table. But honestly, the usage of Cam Thomas has been surprising to me to a degree where it's like, yes, you can look at what he did in Brooklyn and say like, this is the type of player that he is. But I ultimately thought that the whole idea of bringing in a Cam Thomas, you know, to

8:10this team was to kind of get the looks of him with Yannis on the court and all be it Yannis has been injured. So right now you can't get to look anyways. But when Yannis was healthy, I would have thought that, hey, this is kind of a time to experiment. Like we saw a doc experiment with like the jumbo lineups and things like that. So I was just like, little shot that we did not see a little bit more Cam Thomas with Yannis because it's just like, we just need to see it. And I know Doc was asked about that at a game recently, one of the games where Cam actually played. And he kind of just like, it has been enough time. You know, having to sample size, like we don't know, like we just want to get buckets. But it's like, let's try to increase the sample size a little bit. So at least you can look back and have the data to be like, okay, when he's with Yannis, it looks like this, when he's by himself, a little bit too much iso dribbling this and this and that. But like, I was just surprised we didn't see more of that and now Yannis has hurt. So it's like, well, if we don't, I don't, I don't, I should say I don't care to see what he looks like now. But I was most interested in seeing what Cam Thomas looked like on the court next to Yannis.

9:12But now he's hurt. So, you know, kind of like experiment over, you know what I mean, it's kind of interesting. Yeah, I mean, I would agree. I think it's most likely Andre Jackson Jr. who spot is at risk. And if for no other reason, then we've had this kind, it's been an annual tradition of talking about Andre Jackson Jr. Whether or not the bucks were playing him enough, was the early conversation that it shifted to? Is he going to be safe from staying on this team that it just feels like, man, I don't know how many lives this cat has left that it's, we were all very surprised. He made it through in the into regular season cut downs. But this one, I think that's the very clear and obvious choice there. So what the ceiling is for Pete Nance and your expectations on him, assuming the bucks do upgrade them to a standard contract, we'll get into that. You know what Gary, Gary Trent, another player we did not see with camp Thomas, I was indifferent on the signing. I didn't see it as a real downside. I mean, sure, fine. Let's try it. And you mentioned wanting to see him with the honest, but also let's get somebody else that can help score and move the scoreboard here with the

13:22honest out in Kevin Porter, junior was missing some time to that you just needed someone that could initiate some offense. So fine, let's give it a try. Let's see how it goes. Great in that magic game. Yeah, I think he was okay in the what two or three that followed. And then it just kind of become a fit issue where look a couple of things. He needs the ball. He is not really an off ball player. And you have Kevin Porter, junior, you had Janice coming back. You have Ryan Rollins who have all had the ball in their hands quite a bit this season that is going to take away from his effectiveness. He's not an efficient score. And especially from the outside. So when you talk about a team with the honest, yeah, like, you know, a good catching shoot guy, that's not camp Thomas. And then the size and, you know, everybody's talked about the defense or lack thereof. I don't even care about that as long as like, can you be a team defender? And are you giving me effort? The size is the biggest problem where we've talked about the

14:25bucks of cornered the market on, you know, six, three, six, four guards. And now you're in another one with Cam Thomas. So it just kind of felt like this was a bandaid on the issue. And it's reached the point where, okay, yeah, the bandaid isn't going to do it anymore. And we just, we need to go in for surgery at this point. So it wasn't a bad move. There was no downside. But I mean, I, I think this is in the back of my mind, what I expected all along, not necessarily back to back DNP's, but I didn't expect, you know, the 34, I didn't expect to be a 20 point score because you had to question, what is the role going to be? Yeah. I mean, and that's all fair. I think for me, uh, picking Cam Thomas up off waivers was more of like, ooh, I'm interested in this more. So that I, yeah, yeah of trading assets to acquire him because I was unsure of the fit and the defensive. But I went to it first from like, man, I have questions about the defense, defense, defense, but the reality is this is a Bugs team that's been bad offensively and defensively.

15:25So why not try to get someone in the building that can help you at least on one side of the ball here? I'm going to just hasn't played out that way for him. And to your point about just the amount of other guards on this roster that do like to operate with the ball on their hand with KPJ being one, uh, he has somebody who this season, he's had a tough season too. Like we have a lot of conversation around this being the, the season for Yanis where he's been the most injured. And of course, that's going to be the first guy you talk about. Because the whole team was designed around Yanis and Yanis maximizing guys and then maximizing Yanis's strengths. But Kevin Porter Jr has missed more games this season and one that he's been active in like, he's been hurt so much of this season. And even watching him against Cleveland where you can see him laboring at certain points where you're like, man, that knee is, is not right for him yet. And even after the game with Kevin saying like, my knee is what it is right now. And we've just kind of got to get to the end of the season at this point because off season, I can rest come up with a plan, but right now playing on it, it is what it is. So, uh, it's been a tough season for KPJ too because certain aspects of

16:30his game that we saw flashes of when he joined the team like the catching shootability of, of him just hasn't been there. But he has still been able to find ways to create and still try to produce. And it reminds me a bit of like Ryan Rollins last season when Ryan had the shoulder injury. And he's like, I'm going to just play through this. Like, I'm not going to give up these, I'm going to play through it. And this evening, KPJ has been a guy too of like, well, I am just going to play through this. Like, I'm not all the way right from the surgery, but I'm not going to not give my all for these guys on this court. So I respect that aspect of it. But again, to your point about, do we see KPJ on this road trip? Maybe that does open the door for camp times to get some playing time. But again, for me, it's like, it's still without the big guy. So it doesn't give me exactly what I'm looking for. But there might still be some more camp time as minutes to be had, just with injury reports for arthritis of the season. But I don't think this has gone the way that, Cam, what if I mentioned that it would go or those who were very adamant about adding him to this team would have thought that it would go.

17:32Yeah. And, you know, the, the comment I made too in a recent show was, I just, I, there wasn't really a market for him. He was waived by the nets. The nets were trying to trade him. And you can say, well, he, he turned down trades. I mean, it wasn't really his say, but he can, he can put his, you know, seal of approval on it and urge them. I would rather not go there. But the, the Brooklyn net's new camp Thomas wasn't going to be on that team next year. There wasn't a market back to the offseason. I know it's, it's complicated with restricted free agency, but he signed the qualifying offer because of the lack of offers that were out there. So I, I think we have started to move into a newer version of the league where guys that we have watched in the past and camp Thomas kind of fit into one of those, I mean this in the best way possible. One of those traditional chucker types. That's not what the league is anymore.

18:33That there has to be more two way play. So that's one of the other challenges. And you need size. You just can't be undersized anymore. Very few guys are getting away with that. And camp Thomas is undersized for the position that he's playing. So it's going to be curious to see what happens with him for the final 14 games and how many DMPs and if Kevin Porter Jr is going to miss time. Do we see camp Thomas? Do you go back to Gary Harris who we've seen more than camp Thomas of weight because again, he has a player option next year. So these are all things to monitor. But yeah, so to wrap the whole thing up, I do believe you'll probably see a move where Pete Nance is converted. I don't think it's it's camp Thomas because it's it's pretty clear. They're they're just as no future on this team for Andre Jackson Jr. That they've looked for replacements of that position. And I think frankly, they found it. You know, we talked about you'd still love to see Jericho Sims develop a little more in the offensive game.

19:33And by the way, there was one sequence. I don't know if you caught it in that cabs game where he was like in the triple through that position and he kind of pump fake too. And you're like, is he going to shoot a three? Is he going to take a three here? It got me so excited just, you know what? Just try and let's see and jump on 14 games at these final 14 games, Jericho. Just Chuck threes just stand in the corner. Let's see if there's something there. But alas, he didn't. But yeah, I would imagine Pete Nance gets upgraded and is on a standard deal for the remainder of the season. And, you know, who knows? Maybe that's a two year deal. That is this year and next year and partial guarantee because I don't think it's going to be a robust market for Pete Nance. But, you know, I think we've seen enough to know he's a rotational piece, you know, and at worst, he's a break in case of emergency guy, but he's like a, you know, a ninth man for you off the bench. So, yeah, there's something there and it's going to be cost effective. We will take any cost effective deal we can get when we got

20:3520 plus million in dead cap space. So why not exactly that? And for a bugs team where like I've been getting questions asked about like the off season, then what do the bugs try to do? And I'm like, there is so much uncertainty around this team and like for so many different reasons, not even just Janice, but like coaching. And it's like if you do make a coaching change, then it's kind of hard to think of like, okay, well, these players fit into the system that the bugs want to run because then we don't know what system the bugs are trying to run. We can have ideas of how they should play, but until we have complete understanding of like what the coaching staff looks like, if the honest is going to be here, it changes things so dramatically for this team. So if you can get in on a player that you see like, Hey, at the very worst, he's a rotational guy for this team going forward and again, cost effective. You try to sign someone like that up because at the very worst, if it doesn't work out, you have another guy you can dangle into some trade conversations if need be going forward in years to come. So all in all, Pete Nance has been one of the pleasant surprises of the

So it was a very competitive game last night. And I think my one fear going in was when the calves got up double. So I had two fears number one. When the calves got up double figures for the game, not in life. There's many more fears that I have every passing day. But we might have. Oh, boy, maybe a little more than me, when the calves got up double figures, it was like, okay, so here's where they pull away because before the game, we heard a very candid Kenny Atkinson who I would say passive aggressively and granted, we don't follow the calves every day, but I would say

24:42he passive aggressively called out Evan Mobley because he was asked basically about, you know, what have you seen since the all star break? And how was it looked with James and all those types of questions? And he kind of deflected each of them and kept coming back to look, we haven't really. We've been injured and we've had one guy out and one guy coming back. Max comes back, Max Truce. But now other guys are out and Jiren Allen's out and he kept bringing it back to the defense that, you know, the defense has to get better. It's not to the level that we expected it to be. They're right around middle of the pack defensively. But the question about no, Jiren Allen, what does that mean for you? He kind of turned that into, look, it means Jiren Allen needs to or Evan Mobley needs to step up. He is the reigning defensive player of the year. And I forget how he worded it exactly, but basically he has not been good enough and he needs to get better. So there was that and a lot about the defense that my fear was, man, we're going

25:43to see a really motivated Cavs team, especially after that loss to the Mavs. And we are going to see a dominant defensive effort led by Evan Mobley. I think we saw part of that. It wasn't a great defensive showing by the Cavs, but Evan Mobley was a monster. So message received in that game. But when the bucks fell down by double figures, they kept fighting back and they made it competitive. And even towards the end, it was more so what the Cavs were doing with late turnovers and everything else. But Cleveland was leaving the door open for the bucks. And the bucks just didn't run away from it. They tried to continue to make it a game. So for these final 14 games, we know what it is, right? They're not officially eliminated. They're all but eliminated. Charlotte wins again last night. So it's now what six in the lost column with 14 games left. Even if we're to assume Charlotte finishes the season 500 at worst, that would mean the bucks would have to go 13 and one to catch the hornets.

26:45So it is over in these final 14 games. Just give me what we saw against the Cavs. Just be competitive. Let's see multiple guys put up good games, especially young guys, hang tough in the games and let's see what we can build on for next year. I don't know how many more of the 20 and 25 point losses I can take this year. I know that's right. That's that was my general consensus too. Like even watching the pastures game where it's like not the same juice behind it as it has been over the last couple of years. But watching the game, I was like, I still want you to be an indie. But I still want you to be an indie. I don't care about no tank and stuff. Whenever you're playing against Indy, let's see a win. I want to see the win and they were able to do that. And against Cleveland here, just competing. I mentioned before, like the game plan on the bugs has to be like, pressure the guard, speed them up, get them down. Won't you punch them in the mouth? They're not going to respond. You got to win. And to see this bugs team against Cleveland,

27:46where they got down like 15 points in this game, but continue to fight. That's what I want to continue to see. As you mentioned, get the young guy some tick. But ultimately, play with some pride. Like just go out there and hustle because I had someone on my Twitter during my sick malaise when I was, I don't know what I was tweeting about that point. You know, the mad's got to me. But I mentioned like, you know, I think it was like you got to slow somebody down on the opposing team and they were like, imagine sharing for the bugs at this point in the season. And I'm like, I don't have it in me to like watch the bugs and be like, I hope they lose. I can't go into the game now. I'm always going to cheer for the bugs to win. But whenever the outcome is, it is the outcome at this point. Like I'm not cheering. It's like I break my heart if they lose. Like because the season is already done for all intent and purposes. So it is what it is. But I does not mean I want to see them getting blown out for the next, you know, a few weeks of the season. Like I want to see competitive basketball. I want to be able to look at guys and say, hey,

28:48we saw this from him. In the off season, I want to see more of this or less of this and start thinking about like, quote unquote, development plans on the outside, looking in of like, hear the things in his game that I want to conceive, continue to see develop. And there's a handful of things for all these young guys. So far, I was like, I want to see more of that. Like Ryan Rollins, where it's like, hey, I think this year we have learned not a point guard. Yet, yet is career. Not saying he will get there. Not saying he won't. But I think it's always fools go to kind of put very harsh like that. Ryan's on somebody like, oh, you can't do this now at the age of what 24, 25. So you can't do whatever. Like just right now, he's a combo guard. And maybe that's all he'll be. And if that is, that's fine because he has shown he could be a really good combo guard. But like, hey, let's see if you continue working on a ball handling under pressure. Okay, Kevin, poor junior. Hey, can we see more catching shoot? Can we see more threes? Can we not see you pass up as many going forward? Because you're comfortable in that mid range. But can we see you extend that arrangement a little bit more? Every player has something I'm looking for.

29:49AJ Green, can we get the rhythm back? Can we get that three point rhythm back? Can we not lose that confidence that you have shooting the ball, even though you've gone through some slumps? So there are things I'm interested in watching with this team going forward. Whether they win or lose, it is what it is. But that does not mean I want to see bad effort, bad play going forward. Yeah, I mean, I'm right there with you for the, for the obvious reason. You guys can choose, not you, Camille. But the rest of you can choose to dip out some of us are, some of us are tied to this every single day and every single game. So there's no covering the ice and running away from it for me. But yeah, I mean, look, the other thing too is, you know, I mean, it's clear they are transitioning into a new phase that when the old phase ended is TBD. You know, if you want to say it ended in May of 2023,

30:51when you fired the coach and then you subsequently made the move to bring in Damien Lillard, what, four months later. Sure, I don't know that that was an era in itself. Not to get too morbid. It was maybe more like purgatory for those two plus years. But the summer of 2026 is going to start a new phase into era for this group. Even if, you know, you retain Yannis and other guys, it's still going to be different. Because you're like this, it means nothing is off the table. Like your expectations, and I talked about this on the radio show last night. But your expectations coming into the season were to be a playoff team. No, not a play-in team, not postseason. Top 16. And, you know, no one in the organization is ever going to come out and say, we expected this seed. But, you know, you, me and Frank and others, we, I think we all had them. Hey, best case scenario, everything goes right. I could see them as a three seed.

31:52They're probably going to be about fifth somewhere around there. So with that as your mindset and expectations coming in, there's a very high likelihood they're going to lose 50 games this season. Crazy to think about. Those were your expectations. And that's what you do. Nothing is off the table this summer. So I would anticipate a great deal of change. And that's the other part where, like, as foolish as it sounds to many of you, that's where competitive play down the stretch is very important. Because the bugs know where they're at. And it's, you know, we don't have to tell any of you guys, you're not there any of the every dayers, because you're grinding it out through this disappointing season, which by the way is going to end up being one of the five worst seasons in franchise history. Think about that by all the metrics and what the expectations were. But not everyone is like you. And if you're the bugs, you have to compete with the brewers, with the packers, with other events and teams in your market.

32:54And you had this golden era where you were able to bring on board more and more fans and try to create new box fans that frankly weren't there. You and I have talked about it before, Camille, that, you know, all of us here, we were the outliers in our friend group that not a whole lot of interest in this team. That is what you cannot go back to because you saw how long it took to turn that ship around. It took Yannis. It took generational winning and everything else to build up the organization, the new arena, that area, deer district. It was a lot and it took a long time to get there. It's easier to lose it than it is to get it back. So that's why, look, you just can't tank and throw in the towel. Like we're not saying we expect you to be a playoff team and push for that, but you can't punt on the season. You can't do no shots at other teams. You can't do some of the things that we're seeing. Some of these other teams do. You cannot lose the fan base because of how tough it is and the bugs aren't alone. But how tough it is to get those segments of your fan base back.

33:58More importantly, how long it takes to get them back. So that's what they're faced with here for the rest of the season. And that's why it's important. Nights like last night, that becomes the norm. Your young guys are the key. You're competitive. There's a lot of bright spots. You ultimately enhance your draft chances of moving up in the lottery. We mentioned it earlier coming up probably tomorrow's ship will definitely tomorrow's ship. We'll take a look with the tournament starting tomorrow at who you should keep an eye on. Based on mock drafts and who's expected to go as of right now, I'd say somewhere around we'll be generous and say somebody that's like seven through 12, 13 in those mocks. Where and when are they playing in the NCAA tournament? So you can follow along and keep tabs on that and start to do some of your own scouting for the box. So we'll get into that conversation coming up on tomorrow's show and preview the start of the road trip against the Utah Jazz and I believe we'll have one other bonus today

34:59where unfortunately the final 14 games carry different significance for the bugs than they have in over a decade. So the most important games in the playoff type feels where the bugs could actually be a spoiler this year that that's what we've shifted our attention to.
