Browns QB Race: Sanders Leads, Watson Fights

He says the quarterback competition is open, but Rebs and off-season workouts won't split evenly right out the gate, though base it on what they've seen before and how last season ended, adjusting daily for fairness. Shadour Sanders looks prime to get the lion's share early. He closed out the year with three wins and seven starts, including back-to-back division beats over the Steelers and Bengals in week 17, I, 18 Cleveland's only streak all season. DeShawn Watson meanwhile hasn't started since October 20th, 2024, and his last win was September 15th that year. Dylan Gabriel's spot seems shaky too. Monkin noted Sanders has been grinding at the Berea facility for months, but hasn't spotted Gabriel there at all since he arrived. Fans and analysts see this as Sanders locking in as the frontrunner, with Watson fighting for redemption. The Browns aren't done shopping, though. GM Andrew Berry wants a young arm via draft or free agency, which could shake things up.

1:05Monkin has connections to draft prospects, so a high pick might jump the line, but it would be tough topping Sanders' late surge or Watson's pro bowl. Pettigree Expectations are sky high for Sanders in year two. He'll get plenty of first-team work this off-season, unlike last year when the previous coach hailed. Him back until injury forced the issue. His QB room's about to heat up fast.
