On April 8th, Todd Mokin just got introduced as the new head coach for the Cleveland Browns back on February 3rd and he's got 5 months until his first game. Right out the gate, he's keeping it simple, the teens in the development business and the winning business, period. Their off-season workout program kicked off this week, voluntary for now, with plenty to sort out before training camp. The big question mark is at quarterback, where three guys are battling it out. Shadour Sanders, Dishon Watson, and Dylan Gabriel. Sanders started the last seven games last season, going three and four with seven touchdowns and 10 picks. Watson's 9 and 10 is a starter here, with 19 touchdowns, 12 interceptions, and an 80.7 pass rating, but he hasn't played. Since week seven of 2024, after two Achilles Tears, Gabriel win one in five and six starts, seven touchdowns, two picks. Players like Ranting Defense a Player of the Year, Miles Garrett skipped the first sessions, which is his usual move until later in the off season.
Mokin's staff is focusing on individual techniques first, getting everyone up to speed on the playbook before diving into schemes. They're open to switching the QB Dept Chart daily, based on what they see. The Browns carry a rep for dysfunction, and it popped up again last week when Munkin missed the coach's photo at league meetings because he was. Getting a haircut. He's the seventh head coach since the owners bought the team in 2012, and since 2013, they've got a 73 and 100. 39 and one record, second worst in the league. Just four winning seasons since returning in 1999, but Munkin says winning fixes everything, plain and simple. Expect them to grind through the next two months, figure out that QB edge, and bill from their heading into camp.
