Brooklyn Councilmember among several arrested at demonstration... Baby in stroller abandoned in Times Square... Mamdani makes NYCHA upgrades for Earth Day

We began with that controversial arrest of a New York City Council member. Er, Chi Oce was hauled off to jail. Reportedly, while defending one of his constituents' homes, the alleged victim of deed theft, the woman was reportedly being thrown out of her house of six years. And Oce was reportedly trying to stop at six decades, I should say. But when the cops came and everything happened, the alleged cuffle and the alleged throwdown was caught on camera. 1010 wins reported Mary Lynn Buckley at the top of the broadcast in Bestie today. A crowd following Council member Chi Oce from the moment he got arrested outside of one of his constituents' home battling deed theft to now outside of the NYPD's 79 precinct. There are four other people who are still in custody right now. And two of them are in the hospital dealing with a concussion.

1:00He tells us he wasn't being violent and he was listening to officers, while standing up for one of his constituents battling deed theft. For trying to prevent an eviction from taking place. He tells us deed theft is a major problem that many black families throughout his district are dealing with. Mary Lynn Buckley, 1010 wins on 92-3 FM in Bestie. Yeah, Attorney General Tiss James at Chimed in saying that she had been working with that same homeowner because this has become such a problem now, this deed theft thing. In any event, Mayor Mamdoni says his office will look into the arrest and the circumstances which led to the takedown. And the initial protest that alleged a deed theft of the lady's house which started all of this. Manhattan, DA Alvin Bragg, meantime, says the former marketing executive has pleaded guilty to charges of embezzling more than $6 million from two companies where he worked. 61-year-old Michael Collins had sticky fingers between March of 2016 and April of 2024. That's according to court papers. He's hit with grand larcen charges and expected to be sentenced in late June. He could get three to nine years out of that.

2:01And the story is the same. He said he took the money and bought himself some bling, took a bunch of fancy trips on somebody else's dime. He said he first worked out a financial education company and then later as a chief revenue officer for an education technology company, creating two fictitious marketing units which he controlled. And one of the purchases he made, a $150,000 engagement ring. No, he didn't. Yes, you did. No word on whether that wedding is still on. Well, hopefully they won't need it if we can ever get rid of these cooler temperatures. But next season, Mayor Mamdoni says things should be nice and toasty with the announcement of some upgrades at night to apartments all across the city. It's Julia Papa. On this Earth Day, Mayor Mamdoni came to the woodside houses to celebrate the installation of heat pumps and to announce his vision for environmentally safer programs. It sets sustainability goals that include everything from thousands of induction stoves in night to apartments, to electric vehicle charging stations in night to parking lots, to hiring night to residents to fill green jobs.

3:01Queen's borough president Donovan Richard says this is about health and safety. You should never see your breath in your living room. But the residents rep here says the pumps for heat and AC have provided a big improvement in living conditions. Julia Papa, 1010 wins on 92 3 FM in St. Albans, Queens. They've identified a person of interest now in the suiting death of a 15-year-old boy at a park. They're searching for 18-year-olds here Davis who's supposed to be on the last member of the BG-4 gang. Officials say he's from Jamaica and may have taken off out of the country. 18-year-old Jaden Pierre was shot and killed last week at Roy Williams Park, Wilkins Park. They think the shooting stemmed from some beef between the teen and Davis. The cops say the two came together at a water gun fight organized by Pierre and promoted by Pierre. But apparently, they say Davis showed up with a real gun. Attorney General Tis James first revealed out of Visual Monday for Pierre that police had a lock on who the alleged shooter was, but so far there have been no arrests. Follow-up now to that story which broke headlines yesterday in the Belmont section of the Bronx

4:03that Big Fire which left two people dead nearly a dozen other injured. Today we're learning that fire left more than 76 people homeless. The basement of the church across the street has turned into a refugee center for the people who have no home to return to, like Luciano Silva. It feels like a nightmare. One minute we had a home that we've been living our whole lives and the next just gone and gulped in flames. His dog survived but his cat was scared and ran back inside. Jackie's family lost everything. My another save is just that they lost older belongings. I mean my aunt is pregnant. She lost everything but we're getting back together to see what we could do to help her. At this church, victims are getting food, clothing, and legal and emotional support. Macros and Burke-Tenton wins on 92-3 FM in Belmont. That is so, so sad. In the Hudson Valley, police looking for the thieves who ripped off the Gucci store at the Woodbury Premium Outlets. They are four of them, police say, who made off with about $30,000 worth of bags and they were gangster about it too.

5:03Pulling off the heist right there in front of stunned shoppers. It's happened Thursday afternoon. It says here they were in and out in less than a minute. No shoppers or workers were hurt. Out of way on a Jeep that was later spotted in Newark. The culprits got away though and ditched the vehicle in Irvington. Police think the same group is responsible for other thefts there in the area. From Midtown, who does this? Who walks off and leaves a little one in a stroller in the middle of Times Square? Or anywhere for that matter? Police now on the hunt for the baby girl's father. They found her late Tuesday night abandoned in her stroller on West 44th Street in 7th Ave. New Yorkers? Not pleased. I didn't get to see that baby. I would have done something. That's the total nightmare. The middle of Times Square, it's crazy. And she's only six months. Police found her conscious and stable. Jennifer says there were better options. The church, a hospital, a fire department, a police department. Not abandoned them in the street. She's at Northwell Hospital now as the search for dad continues. Amanda Alexander, 1010 wins on 92.3 FM in Midtown.

6:04Another day, another loss for the New York meds getting old now. People are starting to get restless. Juan Soto's back in the mix tonight when they host the twins at 7 o'clock. That's about the best news they've had in a while since they've lost 12 games in a row. The 27-year-old superstar has been out since April after straining his calf. He did it while running the bases in San Francisco against the Giants. And so he ran the bases the other night. They ran around the bases pretty good at City Field to get the feel for it. They say he's good, but manager Carlos Mendoza says, well, we'll have to manage his workload. Because they can't put everything on one guy to get them out of this slump. This is bad though. They sure could use them opening pitches at 710 tonight. Somebody say, well, still the food is good. The food is really good at City Field. And fooling on last forever.
